    I was raised by a yellow Labrador & golden retriever hybrid. She literally got me from middle school thru first year- 2nd year of college. Best girl ever! ❤
    My current dog is my service dog & she’s a long haired black Labrador retriever. ❤ lab fan forever! 😊

      Congratulations! There's a guide dog professional I hugely respect who worked there for many years, then she moved to southeastern guide Dogs, now Dogs Inc. Leader Dogs is a great school, and I've met some great teams from there.

    I forgot to mention that Guide Dogs of America opted out to being part of the International Guide Dog Federation. This may have changed but if this is still true I don’t know what to think. I’ve been meaning to ask why they opted out. IGDF sets standards for various areas of the organization. They also allow for easy trading of breeding stock and puppies. Also if you are in another country, you are more likely to get help from another IGDF organization in the new country you are in. I got help when I lived in Japan with my guide who was from an IGDF carried school in the US.

    Those schools sound great, especially Leader Dogs with their deaf-blind program and their mobility programs for young people. I hope that you are able to find a school that willfit your requirements and which you can work with to find a dog which is going to fill the void you currently have. I love the amount of choice you have in the states around being able to decide which school you use. Here in Australia we only have the choice of our state-baced Guide Dogs school or the national Seeing Eye Dogs Australia. There is another school starting up in Queens Land which I believe will let you work will them if you're not in QLD and I will be looking more into them when it's time for Penelope to retire.

    Do these schools pre match ? Or can you try (for want of a better word) the dogs available and between you and the school work out which one is best for you ?

    • @khanhhm5762
      @khanhhm5762 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The three schools do some level of pre-matching, and that's the case with most of the schools in the states. Some schools will have a couple of candidates available for the applicant when they enter class, others may only have one. But that's not always set either.

    Well, this is awesome and so cool the fact that the first school that you looked up, the one in Michigan provides someone to go with the team and also provides them. You know the meals and training as well so they can help out you know their kid or their sibling awesome awesome wow that’s so cool. The mix of both worlds golden retriever and a Labrador. wow I love how they offer as well hearing impaired/blind and also I love how they offer the programs in English English and of course in Spanish that is so cool. I love her name. Danielle was so nice to you. and of course, helpful very very helpful. I really like your first choice, the leader dogs for the blind. I think the first one has all of the things that you’re looking for hopefully e so hopefully that will be an option for you, but I also like the second one

    I have been to Guide Dogs for the Blind, Guiding Eyes for the Blind, and the Guide Dog Foundation. There are two things that make the foundation different from other places. They teach their dogs how to leash guide. The other thing is the foundation trains Standard Poodles for people with Documented dog allergies. I’m back on the waitlist for my third poodle. The only other school that trains poodles is Guide Dogs of the Desert in Palm Springs, CA. I think GDA stopped training shepherds. Fidelco only trains shepherd. Guiding Eyes and The Seeing Eye are the only other schools that train shepherds. GDF has been doing the 2 week training program, two students per instructor and I think there are around 8 students total. Fidelco and Freedom Guide Dogs only do home training. This next dog will be my 6th.

      @@JohnDoe-xu2vxmost of the schools offer all of that free. One school doesn’t pay for your transportation there and back I think that is Pilot Dog in Ohio.
