This was some of the only Disney Star Wars content where I was actually on the edge of my seat, the tension was 100% real with little to no plot armor to help the protagonists. Respect to the directors.
@Grant B. But he and Mon Mothma are the only ones so far that do. Now if as I suspect K2 is coming soon then that's 3 but not even Luthen or Mothma's family have that luxury.
This episode is some of the best Star Wars we've gotten in years 👍 I'm so happy we're getting something that feels more adult than the other shows have.
This was BY FAR some of the most cinematically astounding Star Wars related content ever! The eye scene, the tie fighter takeoff sequence! Andor continues to help Star Wars out of the gutter!
I think scrambling to the TIE fighters has been one of my favourite scenes in the Star Wars franchise. Boarding from the raised gantry, to start up sequence, the lowering and release in front of that backdrop. Loved every moment of it.
Ep 6 could've been season finale and I would've been happy. OMG. Can say now that this has surpassed my love for The Mandalorian (for now) just because this dark tone , the top-notch writing and soundtrack has consistently amazed me. Can't wait for the next arc.
WHAT an episode. Real Rebel shit! Love those Imps getting pushed around. Insane visuals. Cared about all the characters, which is pretty difficult when it comes to the “ragtag group” kind of trope. “You belong here”
The Eye, I can only assume, is created out of the "shadow" the planet leaves as it passes through the belt... which makes me both wonder how perfectly synced the planet's rotation is to its orbit that the same viewing location always has a grand view, but also what hellscape the other side of the planet must face being pummeled by a direct hit from this occurrence triennialy.
I think Skeen's line about his brother was meant to be ambiguous. Yes, it could be interpreted as 'he doesn't have a brother, and never has', or it could mean 'he doesn't have a brother anymore because he's dead'. The beauty is, it doesn't matter. It doesn't have an effect on the plot in any way, but its a subtle addition that makes you think. Just phenomenal writing!
I agree…. He HAD a brother which represented goodness. But with his brothers death and now he saying aloud “I have no brother” Skeen is giving himself permission to be selfish, disloyal, etc…
First off I love the character of Grogu and his relationship with Din jarin. But I really believe the only reason why Andor is not a huge hit like the Mandalorian is because of the absence of a "gimmick" like baby Yoda to capture the attention from the casual watchers
I feel Andor had to shoot Skeen because their conversation was leading to Skeen shooting Andor if he didn't go along with the plan, or maybe even killing Andor after they left the planet with the money. Skeen was creeping in that direction.
I don't trust anybody with a Manifesto the narcissism to think that you have it all figured out and people should read your words and follow it like some kind of religion reaks of insecurity
@@robertstone9988 A manifesto is just a declaration of thoughts, I don't know what youre thinking about but like the Origin of the Species by Darwin is a manifesto and he certainly knew he had not everything figured out, the Bible can also be considered a manifesto and no, it does not tell you what you have to do or how you have to behave, and also it's purposely up to interpretation, the Communist Manifesto is not a guideline either, it just shares Marx's and Engels ideas on communism, and even it states that those ideas are not absolute and always up for discussion, Animal Farm is a manifesto and doesn't set up any certain thought that people should follow, it's mere criticism of a regime.
The Eye reflecting off the TIE Fighter canopies reminded me how Rogue Squadron pilots used to call TIE Fighters 'eyeballs' (Interceptors were 'Squints', Bombers were 'Dupes')
Wow! Something just noticed watching this video. If anyone else has been in the military and had to train for a “reaction force” you may pick up on that TIE pilot. He knew at what step to drop off and did a twist while doing it. Then he went right for the hatch. You could tell this is routinely drilled. This defiantly feels real for anyone else that has been there.
This was a great episode and I loved the tie fighter pilots getting to their tie. This one episode had some of the best Star Wars visuals yet and hope the momentum continues not to mention so far plot armor feels non existent and the empire can actually land some shots.
If someone doesn't make an animated background on wallpaper engine of the tie fighter with the pilot getting in with the meteor shower behind it, I will be sad
This is the best episode yet. Well Written and fantastic visuals. The Eye Scene is one of the best scenes in Star Wars. This And Mando Are Next Level Disney Star Wars. Hyped for the rest of the series and hope to get Morbius' Girlfriend back. Also hope for Saw Next Episode And More Of Luthen because Stellan is so good as him.
This series is fast becoming my favorite thing that has come out of Disney + Love your comparison referencing marx, it for sure has some parallel there.
That’s the cool thing about good writing: it’s ambiguous. When he said he had no brother that kinda proved he wasn’t testing him. Skeen should have said “my brother would have wanted it this way…”
That was my initial thought. But thinking on it, I realized there is zero point in testing him. He Held up his end of thr bargain. He even outed himself out as a mercenary. His plan wasn't to stick with the rebels, he wanted to get paid and leave. So why would Skeen test him? And for what purpose? I couldn't think of any, so my own conclusion was that Skeen was serious.
No testing, i felt it too real, you won't be kidding that hard in that situation, actually it felt like Skeen was about to kill Andor any time later, and that's why Andor killed him(plus som sense of moral).
Well to be fair in the previous episode he said he didn’t want to be looking over his shoulder. So at the first sign of betrayal Andor wasn’t taking any chances with his life so quickly and effectively took out Skeen.
Badass women without having to constantly tell you, women characters in a relationship, which you'd miss if you blinked, because they don't need to shove it down your throat! And a tense anxiety inducing mission capped by one of the most visually stimulating things I've seen in Star Wars. Well done. More writers like these!!
The Eye was so stunning visually. It also reminded me of a minigame from one of my favourite games, which had a backstory to it that's kind of similar to what happens to Nemik this episode.
Im calling it here. Nemiks manifesto/Nemiks memory is somehow the programming basis for K2-SO. From how he talks, to his quips; Alex Lawther felt like a cousin to K2 in episode 5. Climb indeed.
6:10 I totally noticed that. This is the first time any humanoid character has ever relieved themselves in Star Wars. Not sure if Star Trek has hit that mark yet.
After the remark about how the pelts stink, and the way the pilgrims just throw the pelt in the fire, I feel like the imperials are given purposefully stinky pelts. 😂
Missed detail. Our group says “squad halt” moments after the actual guards say something different (I can’t remember the word exactly) but it raised suspicions
If you want to go english teacher about the "Climb" type thing its possible its also an allegory for the rebels climbing up the ladder or climbing to defeat the empire. Just a thought.
Wow, Andor just gets better & better! This is really the kind of standard I hold Star Wars to. Everything SW should be just as good as ep. 6, it feels on par with Rogue One. Simply excellent. Obi-Wan was a letdown but Andor is bringing me back to the "light side"
At 13:56 the background behind Major Pardigast (?) looks like an "eye" with the Emperial symbol in the center contrasting the Eye of Aldhani. I think this is to represent that everyone is under the watchful eye of the ISB.
Also, notice how in the shot of Jayhold sip their drinks, side by side. notice how they're drinking with their "inside arms" a contrast the last episode when "Clem" points out that they should have their strong hands on the "outside"
I love this as much as anyone, only thing I need is a few more characters that are not humanoid. Remind me if I missed any. Casting is fantastic, love Diego and love Stellan. ❤
I dunno, dogg, I feel pretty sure that Skeen was fully on board with the mission, and that he had a brother. But once things started falling apart, he read the room and made the most practical call for himself.
I like how, for only the second time now, we're shown the unwilling family of an Imperial. We learned in R1 that family accommodations are offered as a treat for important Imperial officers.. This time, in contrast to that, we see the more than willing Officer with his submissive, if a bit passive aggressive, family that yurns to leave by can't because of their patriarchs loyalties.
The "...requires a signal from Alkenzi." line MIGHT be a reference to Die Hard. Specifically, the scene where the FBI cuts the power to the building causing the final lock on the vault to open. Sorta like when Gorn blows the locks in this episode.
Prediction. Disney Plus Star Wars Shows introduce future characters in existing content. We (eventually) see Mon Mothma being rescued by a live action crew of The Ghost. They are setting up this with Mon Mothma’s story arc. Thoughts?
My question is, what does the empire do when they see this? Are they gonna kill all the natives due to thinking they were involved in this. Very interesting on what are the repercussions for the native people on the planets are. The rebels can’t really help
I assume that kid grows up to be an Imperial loyalist, unless Cynta killed them (which I highly doubt) or the Empire kills them and the falsely reports that they were murdered by the rebels.
Dang, some strong reasons to rewatch this one and look back at the subtle character choices, thanks for highlighting some of those critical moments! Great acting and directing, haven't been able to say that in a minute

It's like a movie every 3 episodes
The tie pilot scene gave us our first look at stormtroopers at the bottom barely noticeable
Nice catch Jim - I noticed them too - guarding the Imperial shuttle
WHAT an episode. Real Rebel shit! Love those Imps getting pushed around. Insane visuals. Cared about all the characters, which is pretty difficult when it comes to the “ragtag group” kind of trope.
“You belong here”
I love how the TIE fighter cat walk has virtually no hand rails, reminding us of the Empire's aversion to basic safety measures
It's probably unhealthy how hard I laughed at this
