Of course you can admit a guy's attractive perfectly without being gay, but you probably don't understand what's being discussed here. It's most weird SYSTEMATIC behavior by Rogan who regularly discusses guy's dicks, makes dick jokes abundantly for no reason, and generally behaves along those gay lines - which would make such admissions by him even more fitting into that context. As a boxer, I'd like to add my piece: I think we have some of the best strikes in martial arts, now I have many friends in my gym who watch and love MMA, and we can't really compare with other martial arts that use other forms of strikes: elbows, palm-strikes, kicks, backfists, etc. I'm fully aware that you can't take a boxing into the octagon, it's the same outcome as getting any MMA fighter and putting the guy in the ring with boxing rules. I've been kicked in the leg before, that hurt like a motherfucker, boxers can do little to nothing against a kick or a grapple unless we have some background in other martial arts, we're fully aware of that. I'm pretty sure if an MMA fighter went against a boxer using nothing but strikes, no kicks or grappling, you're bound to have a hard time.

      Like Jeff said, its not a fair fight if you have take away options from a fighter while the other fighter can use his/her entire arsenal. Fact is that boxers are incomplete fighters when you look at the overall picture and not just striking. Even in striking, they are incomplete as they can't kick and can be kept at a distance with kicks. As Joe said, a few hard low kicks to the legs and suddenly your footwork is not the same anymore. However, once a boxer connects, its damn difficult to keep up lol. You guys hit brutally hard!

      @@GoreDios "Boxing is the sport of punching , MMA is the sport of fighting" -Joey Rogey Which is the "best" is entirely based on the ruleset. IMO the best study of pure hand strikes is clearly boxing, there are no other things to consider such as, kicks, knees, elbows and most of all TAKEDOWNS. Inversely, the "best" study of pure leg strikes could arguably be Tae kwon do because there are no punches to the head or TAKEDOWNS. The "Best" study of strikes with arms and legs is muay thai also bc they don't have to worry about takedowns. Some could argue kickboxing, silat but idk. One could say the best ground fighting is Brazilian or Japanese Jiu Jit Su because of submissions, but then there's also wrestling and and outlier of judo where its just takedowns and no ground fighting. The game ultimately changes when takedowns, AND groundfighting is allowed. The closest ive seen to an almost zero ruleset is Sambo, Valey Two Toe ; ) and then theres a weird outlier of Lethwei where the art of 9 limbs allowing headbutts exist from Myanmar/Berma neighboring Thailand. Its a wild world out there and Im glad that we're around to see a competitive form of martial arts with a very limited ruleset (MMA) take place on a global scale. Sensai seth and Ramsay Dewey have a great vid on if MMA is a style or just a ruleset. PRIDE was cool and ONE Championship still allows soccer kicks and any leg strikes to the head of a grounded opponent, which would make Khabib's reign not be as dominant IMO. There are lots of times where you could sprawl and knee the fuck out of a person shooting and its game over. Anyways COVID has me bored AF, can you tell? lol Merry Chrimbus Everyone!

      One big factor in me not enjoying MMA as much as I do for boxing is because adding this kind of shit into boxing would dilute the quality, like it does for MMA. striking generally is poor in MMA, it's hard to be a big boxing fan and watch those MMA guys throw poor quality shots.

      @@john-wick101 you're looking at in a strictly boxing lense when in actuality, it's like comparing apples to oranges. It's like Joe said, most of the technique in a pure boxer would not work in MMA. You'd never see a guy in mma set up strikes like Lomachenko, Hearns, Ali , Duran, Sugar Ray or any of the other great punchers because the positioning wouldn't work. "Poor quality" is only correct if you throw those guys into a boxing match. Spinning backfist is devastating, major weakness to any spinning move is you only have to touch the outside shoulder to stop any spinning move dead you are now behind in perfect position to choke out. We had a local guy from my home town who used spinning backfist as trademark but he launched it very tight and close in while most use it to cover distance. The Crawf was able to knock out first round many times until he was known for this move. My favourite move but you have to be careful about how to sneak it in as any spinning move can be exploited.

And once its in the stand up realm they have a better chance say than a kickboxer based on how both martial arts defend. In kboxing (or more muay thai...I think) they rather block than get out the way, while boxing has slips etc. Also muay thai/kickboxing (except for dutch style) has a really slow start and is not known for pressuring opponents. Boxers also have strong legs so checking kicks is another skill they can pick up easier than wrestling.

    I don't necessarily agree with Joe on the 1st point he made about about Jon Jones.
    A boxer who has great defense and who can avoid a hand coming straight at them down the pipe will have a great chance of seeing a kick coming especially as kicks are more likely to be telegraphed.
    I agree though that if you eat a few it's considerably going to slow you down and someone with a good ground game gets you on the floor then it's night night time.
    But in the end, I'd say that as straight up amateurs if a very average level MMA fighter fought a boxer if the same average skill set then I believe the MMA fighter has a greater chance unless the boxer utilises his greatest friend, the jab to keep him far away enough that he can't land a punch but close enough that he can't get a decent kick

Its hard to maintain a grip especially as the fight goes on and people sweat, its also a lot more dangerous to give up position in search of some fancy sub attempt. After that and I wee bit more research on BJJ and mma and I realized finally why I talked down about mma, it wasn't because of hating, heck no, I love Karate, kickboxing, offensive MA. I think like "if you can't beat someone with your own strength then you're a p*$$y" and that equated to me thinking punching and kicking only, and that grappling and pinning and all that was a p*$$y thing to do. Now It was as the guy in the podcast said, "people prefer the dumb way of fighting" which was how I preferred fighting. Smart, but not the smartest or quickest way of it. Spinning backhands alone against a boxer dont work too well, trust me, had a 3 minute match against a bigger guy than me wearing only bag mitts and he was trying spinning backhands, by the time he had spun around id already hit him 2 or 3 times, including in the back of the head which is rather dangerous, he was a bleeding mess by the end, guess it depends on the skill level though.

    Boxing footwork will do absolutely nothing for you in an actual fight with an mma fighter 😂. As a boxer who transitioned into bjj and muay thai I realized footwork in boxing only works in boxing. If you get an mma fighter coming at you with a takedown, your footwork and Jab won't do shit to stop him

    • @0Yunggunna
      @0Yunggunna 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In an actual fight, you don’t necessarily have to be in a cage/ring. So if you attempt to take down a boxer in….let’s say a parking lot, they’re going to fuck you up with accurate, precise strikes. It’s easier to land a punch than a kick. They will simply retreat and pick their shots. Possibly even knock you out. But to your defense, wrestling and boxing are the oldest forms of martial arts so I’m pretty sure wrestling has its benefits as well.

    • @javierdeleon8630
      @javierdeleon8630 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@0Yunggunna disagree, boxers are not used to takedowns and a person who does jot know how to defend against a submission is going to lose badly. The kickboxer can keep the distance as the low kicks are going to chop them up. Boxers are not used to kicks or takedown’s. On the other hand an mma fighter that knows bjj will eat a few punches but they will easily control the boxers body. A boxer vs an mma fighter will get either strangled or knocked out with a kick.

    I bet neither of these fights would have happened if either had insisted on being able to kick Mayweather in the head..

Because best money is in boxing, not MMA. So - I still wait for a real boxing champion to try his luck in octagon.
