Peerless speakers are something absolutely fantastic.
Beautiful.. I love those 7 in drivers, nice build.
Those look CLEAN. Nice one
I like these DIY videos, you encouraged me to think about re-using pair of bookshelf speaker drivers in new enclosure
All about the crossover man.
@@Luke-qs2cg In this video I've learned that you can connect everything to anything, put it in the birdhouse and you've got it. :)
Looks good. Tip for next time. It'll be easier (and cleaner on your crossovers) to drill out those speaker screw holes before assembling the box, and to sand the box before adding the crossover.
Wow, great work! You're really talented. I wish I could do that stuff.
Nice clean build and driver combo. Use those esoteric woofers in a ported 3 way (2x parallel).
Very nice build
Very nice quality video!
Keep it up
Awesome work sir.. salute
No dampaning the speaker?
Great project, very nice speakers!
love videos like this
Great video, love the cinematics.
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it!
@@Doublsmmm do you have a parts list and the mesurements of the wood and the holes?
Nice work i like the color and the wood is nice
I really enjoyed watching this process. I am new just getting into home audio and I am going to try to build a pair of bookshelf speakers and I was just wondering if you could change anything about these speakers looking back would you? Also do they have good bass without being ported? Thank you very much for doing this video.
Very good job and beautiful song choises. Bravo my Friend🙌🙂🤝🤝🤝
Awesome video
love your vids bro
Last year I made a pair of tower speakers (MDF enclosures) and I only used wood glue and clamps and even a heavy pair of bookshelf speakers to help with the clamping. No screws. I tuned the boxes by ear.
Amazing!
Nice work
A good how to for those who don't want to invest a lot in tools and are ok with function over form.
Sooooooooo gooooooooooood. Thumbs up double.!!!
What tweeters were used for this build? Looks awesome! Would love to hear them in person!
Wow they look amazing love to hear them play how much was total build of per speaker or unit
Would love to do something like this, I have the cabinet making skills, but the crossover is the stumbling block for me, you're lucky to have had it designed & built for you. I need to gather a lot more knowledge before I can do that.
Finally got away from MDF, NICE!
Could you please tell me the music used in the video, Also great work on the speakers. Keep doing it my friend.
I am getting ready to do a Overnight Sensations build (my 1st). would be cool if you included a detailed parts list for your custom builds. Especially for the custom crossovers.
That is a great place to start. Are you going to order the knockdown MDF cabinets, or do you plan to do the woodworking yourself?
Can you please provide link to the drivers and the crossover design ? thanks for the great build
A frame of reference building these speakers comparing them to big box brand speakers. Elac debut ?, pioneer SP - BS21-LR ?, Klipsch? Dayton audio?. Who sounds signature do they sound like.
Would like to hear comparison between them and b652 airs. Then a cost comparison
Wow cool
Could you please give the model numbers for the speakers and the crossover components you used? These look really nice and I'd like to build an active version of them with Bluetooth for my sister.
Could you build a quality 2-way speaker with 8" woofer for under $125 each? Most of the DIY kits are overkill and come with weak 6" or 7" woofers.
Are the plans for the crossovers available anywhere? Are they for sale by 123Toid?
Fantastic DIY video, great project, very nice speakers!
Please, if you can, suggest me a Dayton full range 3.5" or 4" or another of the same category to match it with a Peerless 6.5" woofer, no tweeter, I want to make experimental studio monitors, just for fun !
Thank you very much !
Dayton Audio PS95
What kind of setup or jig did you use to do the recess around the speaker openings?
Hi, i want to build 2 of this, can tell me pls what speacker use and what crossovers use?
But, why no bass reflex? it help a lot not only for a deep bass but also for release the pressure from inside of the speakers and reducing the distortion chances/amount!
i like the punchy bass of a sealed enclosure
it's most likely used on a desk, so having a sealed enclosure is actually good.
@@ph4n1th I use my speakers also on desktop, and with the bass reflex ports actually sound better.
@@Orpheuss62 I agree with you there, Having bass ports does amplifier the bass effects, makes it sound deeper and fuller. Tho sealed enclosure does offer a tight sound signature and punchy boxy bass. So It depends on people's taste. Me personally I would use bass ports too :)
@@ph4n1th Here, I agree too, everything related the human senses is purely subjective.
Did you sand the boxes with the crossovers inside?
very nice :)
Damn you have a whole woodwork room
Idk what’s better, enough JBL speakers for a whole family tree or having the ability to build decent wood cabinet speakers.
Where can I buy the crossover parts and which parts would I need
No reflex?
Have you taken an on and off axis response?
Would love to see that data on these build. Seems like the box is going to rumble itself apart with no porting.
Did you spec out the crossover with the driver stats in XSIM?
it depends
Nice build. Sealed I presume, but why no sound deadening?
Jeez, that's a very, very long while ago since you did a speaker build.
What is the type of speakers and where can I get the parts to make the crossover
Any reason not to include insulation or polyfill? Just curious.
DIY speaker and subwoofer grills please
Wander full making
I like the DiY bookshelf speaker. But is that really necessary to glue on the crossover board into the box before sanding the entire box?
No!
Super 👌 👍
Hello,
Are plans available somewhere? Thank you.
what type of wood did you use?
How big is your box? What is the qtc you chose?
Do you have a parts list?
I'm about 3:3 in and Why only three speakers ? It's two or four most times. Didn't think about sound insulation / fill ?
I designed these for his front soundstage in his theater. So this would be his center and two fronts
Can you share the crossover design.
These speakers are passive or active? Does the crossovers have built-in amplifier?
passive
do you see any power cord?
I noticed that you didn't use anything to seal under the speakers. I know the tweeters don't have any sealant material under them, but I couldn't tell is the woofers did. I'd be worried about air leaks. Chuffing sucks.
Skipped through most of the video, very clean build I must say.
That's a bitch move
How is the bass in the esoteric’s?
The Esoteric series speakers have state-of-the-art bass. Duke Lejeune of AudioKinesis told me they have the best bass he has heard in a 6.5-7" size class speaker. They are not a cheap driver, and it is important that you try to chamfer the back side of the baffle around the woofer cutout if you can, to help with airflow through the frame windows between the cone and spider landings.
Nice job, but....
for sealed box, rubber foam gasket between speaker and box is A MUST, as well as cotton thread or wool filling
nhf :-)
What about the subs? You said "in the next video where you will see how the whole systems sounds". Or is the next one the subwoofer build where we will see how the complete system sounds?
The next video should be the entire system going (all going to plan)
Jack can you do a song requas please reply😀
Any advantages of building crossovers instead of buying them? Disregarding the cost
They are designed for the speakers specifically instead of just designed for a large variety or speakers. All in all they sound better. 123Toid explains this in detail on his channel :)
In order to get the best sound from any drivers, you need a custom crossover designed. There's to much to go into right here, but Impulse Audio had a great video on prebuilt crossovers versus custom.
@@Toid this just made me smile. It's so nice to see everyone mentioning each other. Jack mentions Toid and Toid mentions Impulse Audio :) I feel like the DIY audio community on TH-cam is really going right now.
You guys have a ported design in the works?
@@mag290 yes. It'll be on my channel soon as well as my website.
No ports for air?
why my diy bookshelf speaker gives lessbass on table morebass if kept on floor?
any speaker will do the same
amount of bass depends of how high or low speaker is placed too, how close the rear wall is, how close side walls are, and many, many other things
Whn U Made This ..then Y U dont Show the Audio Output.. Tht How is Working We Also Hear that Before we Make it Same Components..plzz Form Next More Videos Plzz make An audio output Sound tht we can Hear too....Btw Its Was Awsome I made same..Its Overpowerd..love yur Idea..💯❤
What are the dimensions for the box itself.
Which wood is that ?
why 3 ?
Front left, Front right and Center!
Funny thing is, you did the same thing as me with the center channel. I did not have enough room for a fancy mid, tweet, mid center speaker in my room, so I did what you did and went for a regular bookshelf speaker. I do not see any obvious improvements of having 2 woofers on the side of my center instead of just one on the bottom. After all, the tweeter really decides if your dialogue sounds clear, crisp, or just muffled. Good move not wasting money on 2 woofers.
general specific you are absolutely correct. I do not have a midrange in mine, but the Polk Audio t15 I used gas a midwoofer and a silk dome tweeter. It certainly sounds like it contains a midrange, and I am happy with it until I can find something slightly more pricy. The earlier Paradigm Atom (using earlier paradigm titans for left and right) are apparently better after a refoam, like I did to my titans, and will match more.
Hi Doublsmm,
I really like the components used in the crossover! That important topic is often missverstanden or underrated.
Did you measure up the frequency response?
Last question: Why did you chose a closed design? I think the woofer is designed for a ported speaker.
Hi nice job! I'm also going to rebuild an old set of bookshelves. But I was also wondering why you didn't put in a port? Are they necessary? I'm new at this too👍
whats the logic behind 3 speakers
Left right centre
no foam inside ? no bass reflex ?
Cid Ou Not really necessary, and sealed boxes tend to sound better than bass reflex
@@joe070907080706 that depended on the person or the box...
@@riveralley Actually no. Sealed enclosures will always surpass bass reflex ones on sound quality. Not in raw bass output per watt though!
But insulation would still improve the sound.
Exactly, the insulation will give the air inside the cabinet a longer travel wich will give the speaker sound like it had a bigger cabinet and a lot less "boxy" sounding too.
placing the drivers/magnets so close, does it affect the speakers anyhow ? on long ter or on performance ?
iceberg789 um not at all mate.
at 3:30 it looks like the left one is different?? is there a reason, or a mistake? Looks like a oops to me.
Good pick-up! I never noticed that, that particular box is just upside down in that video :)
Still waiting for the bigger subs !!
That will be some time.
What size is this speaker for? What are the dimensions of the speaker box?
See 2:20
7:35 what the title backsound this video ?
cual es la marca del tweeter
I'm jealous you have all the proper equipment and space. At the moment I don't
How do you decide on tweeter and woofer?
browse brands
are the ¨punchy¨ ?, I mean the bass
needs vinyl or veneer
Why not go 123Toids ported design?
Kindly share it's dimension details
This is MDF of playwood?
playwood
Where are FR measurements? :)
with all the tools, why don't you have a mitre joints.
hi
7" drivers?? aren't the 6 1/2"?
Why 3 of them?
Please send dimension box
4:16 Any woodworker will tell you that you really should use as many clamps as you can fit.
Why were you using headphones for the jigsaw? You listen to loud music
So that you could keep listening to that loud music.
Sir box dimensions pls
