Dear watchers! Please act very carefully in the Icelandic nature due to its fragility, stay on tracks and roads at all time and avoid cycling over vegetation. The moss in Iceland grows only 0.75-1.2 mm a year, that is it! The growing season is short, especially in the highlands and average 24hrs temperatures in July in the warmer lowlands are only 11.7°C. Once a scar has been cut into the vegetation, even just grass, there are great chances that the strong winds that are dominant here pick at the scar peeling off the vegetation. And due to the low cohesion of the volcanic clay here it blows easily away once vegetative cover is lost. As somebody said here earlier, in Iceland you can still see "writings, pickings off, in moss made in 1959! Feel welcome to visit Iceland, but please avoid any possible damage to nature.
my relatives are from iceland and I have always wanted to go downhill biking there but after reading all the negative comments about how riding there can destroy the environment I'll just stay in canada where I belong lol

This is what they need to do to sell MTB to the casual public! A show about locations all over the world and then some action shots along with a narrator talking about the location and country, history ect. May not be a huge hit but it will get ratings!

Are you kidding this keeps people away from bikes. People don’t like leaving the ground on bikes. I was always surprised that DH free ride didn’t take off but after 15 years of it I can see why people stay away. Even the best of the best take massive wipeouts.

LeOnMoTo it was a strategy by the Vikings that wanted control over the island. They sent them to Greenland with high hopes and then their boats froze
