I just started teaching myself Chinese last week. This lesson is perfect for me. I'm interested in just learning how to speak Chinese but not read it or write it. My purpose is just to memorize many phrases accurately and understand what is being said to me and to have a conversation with someone. This works perfectly for me, thank you.

Remember, it takes a child 3 to 4 years to speak their native language. Adults, almost twice as long. You have to hear it EVERYDAY - or forget it. Like mastering guitar (which took me over a decade).

It’s funny that I am a son of a Chinese couples from Vietnam but no Chinese at all. Years ago, I have had many sources but not quite good until i found these lessons. I am happy now. My pinying is good to communicate with people but not Chinese writing. One thing I realized is these lessons teaching useful everyday sentences that really need for beginners and they will see many words repeating in real life.Thank you again

Wish I could pin this video to the top of my daily video feed until I've memorized all of it... One thing I really like about this video is that it uses many more natural native phrases, instead of the awkward translations that most texts recommend

Exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks very much for this.
My only note would be to leave one or two more seconds at the end of each piece so we have a touch more time to say the whole thing at once after the last time you repeat it.
It's no problem most of the time but for some longer ones its hard to fully say them before it transitions.

Thank you, its very good. I will definitely listen a lot to this video. The repetitions are great..slow then faster,. Just one small suggestion /correction: there is one phrase in the lesson that we don't use in English; "How's you going"? We really do not ever say that. We say instead: "How's it going?"

I am finding from an intermediate student perspective, not just as a beginner, that these simple phrases and sentences are excellent for the practice of writing characters. A dictionary with stroke order is also good to have, one on the ipad and the other on my phone. Tai hao le.
