They, snipers, are not “chill”. They are in fact partially sociopaths. As are most task force police. They don't have that level of empathy that you and I have.
@efccoyney and? You're saying me.. this people here in the comment section are in the UK army? DUDE.. this are 14 to 21 yo kids who plays COD or CSGO.. nothing more, nothing less..
Do you know what an artist and a sniper have in common? Details. Like when a touch of color is out of place. When a shadow does not match with its surroundings. Or when a shape is not where it is supposed to be. The only difference is the stakes.
For those of you saying he missed his target remember that he is using a scope zeroed out WAY farther than 100ft. so what you are seeing is the actual vertical space between the muzzle and the scope...
That's not true. The bullet doesn't come out of the barrel in a straight line. The bullet has a arched trajectory to it. He's shooting a .308 so depending on load he's using, his first point of contact (with his eye sight) should be around 20 to 30 yards.
+Blake Beverly It does start to arch at that close distance... +Tom K you are correct... its the same with Using a ACOG on an M4 at 36 yrds if you arent zeroed out at 36yrds. your shot pattern will be higher.
I'd be funny if his actual name was Mike, then they just said it was his fake name. What a clever way to try and throw people off. Cool mustache as well "Mike" bringin back the 70s I see.
You guys are presuming that the guy that said the "one shot, one kill" line was the "Mike" that did the actual shooting... it may be him, and it may not...
+Pablo Aguilar Please. Sitting in a 130 degree box for 30 - 45 minutes to make one shot. That's child's play to him, it was probably even fun. www.warhistoryonline.com/vietnam-war/a-vietnam-war-sniper-crawled-for-3-days-across-2000m-of-open-field-killed-nva-general-with-one-shot-then-crawledback.html
Love the part where he told the sniper to put his rifle on safety I get he's trying to be as safe as possible but it's like my guy you just told a trained sniper with most likely some kills under his belt who can shoot between heart beats in 130 degrees f to put his safety on yeah I think he has that part covered pal.
Interesting enough, when on nearly every range during USMC training, THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENS, beside the fact that he spoke to him, and you are typically being shouted at through a microphone/speaker from a little tower in the middle of the firing line.
in bootcamp you learn to shoot between breaths unless youre like a few of us and shoot between heartbeats which is a lot easier cause you can time it but harder to use at kneeling because itll make your rectile bouncing
If he was sitting in a real mission, odds are, he'd have been in those conditions over the course of hours, if not days, and would still make the shot. This probably felt like a walk in the park for him.
I once headshot a seagul a mile away on 60 mph day with an unsighted pellet gun and once shot the same bullet twice I also did the breathing technique and I'm 14 btw
The explanation is so rocket science of scientist fiction. Let me translate in simplified ways. The sniper just using his special ability just like Trevor in the GTA V to shoot between his heartbeat without losing the target and ofcourse one shot one kill.
Snipers aren’t the only ones who do this. I do it with every long distance shot. If you’ve ever heard of buck fever, that is the inability to keep your cool, to control your shot when hunting. Science is finally catching up to what many already know! Fun stuff
Youre calm until you see the X, then you start panicking because they are usually a moving x in the time window you can take the shot, no mention of that variable and it is a BIG variable.
As a drummer and aspiring marksman, i can attest to the difficulty of shooting between beats, you have to make note of the tempo of your heart rate while maintaining on target and calm, then, you have to time a slower trigger pull to subdivide the heartbeat perfectly
I hate to be "that guy" and for what it's worth, I was just a standard Marine-- no Rickey Recon, sniper, MARSOC, etc. But, I shot between heartbeats and breaths. I didn't know this was considered unique. EDIT: and to be clear-- from known distances prone. Not standing, kneeling, or with a moving target. Thats a different story...

The act of pulling a trigger with the cross-hairs sitting stable and on target is EASY, anyone can do that with some basic training...The hard part is the Field-craft, finding the best location, setting up without being seen, having multiple likely, effectively anticipated target areas under surveillance so you can engage anywhere, again, without being seen "shifting" from one to the other, plus the range estimation, doping the wind, and properly compensating for any/all elevation difference between you and the target... All of which must be calculated into "this many clicks" of scope adjustment for each variable, so you can do the easy part (put the cross-hairs on target and shoot) without thinking too much about it...
Your right and wrong it makes little to no difference at any range most people will be shooting at but at a mile it can be the difference of hitting your target or the wall 20 feet to his left
