- For decades, Korea and its people labor under Japanese imperialist rule. But in 1912, in a small town outside Pyongyang, a child is born - Kim Il Sung, coinciding with an omen of imperialism’s doom. This is the story of how an unknown guerrilla fighter rises to power, takes complete control of his country and makes himself a god in the eyes of his people.

This means you are a communist sympathizer. You should visit there someday.

I've never clicked on a video so fast in my life. I've watched nearly all of the NK documentaries on TH-cam.

Same. Anything NK related and I click the second I see it. Can’t get enough of it!
Almost all of them are old repeats posted over and over
Ohh weeeee
Same! 😂
Why am I so obsessed DPRK documentaries….thanks Nat Geo! I’ve been running out of things to watch.
What's up
Because you're actually North Korean.
Because it's a mysterious country bro with unusual character for a modern country in the century we live in
It's not documentary, it's American propaganda.
Did you realize you already watched this one? It was made in 2018.
I don’t know why I am so obsessed with these documentaries😂😂

How awful knowing your surrender meant the death of your family. My heart goes out to the commando whose parents were publicly executed.

Outstanding. This documentary is astonishingly well put together, with a wealth of real footage and images. Extremely informative and superbly narrated. Bravo!
I was in South Korea during the incident at Panmunjom in 1976. I served in a mortar platoon in the 2nd Division which was located less than 30 miles from the DMZ. I knew so little about what was going on that it was over before I found out what had happened. The death of two American officers was tragic.

I feel sorry for what you went through and the North Korean citizens
That was a tragic accident long ago and is a lost memory for Koreans.

I can't believe this is free, great documentary
It's hard to imagine having completely unrestricted power to the point where anything you want or desire, anyone you want killed or imprisoned, anything at all no matter how outrageous or expensive is given to you at your command and without question. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Yes, but the Sword of Damocles hangs over them. This is why they act as they do.

My father fought in the Korean War.
He said they are a very different type of people. Very simple and afraid the North Korean people.
My father was captured by them and held for over a year.
He said the people are nice and the government is crazy. At night strangers would go into the camp and give the American soldiers food.
Bread, and potatoes, when they had the chance of getting caught, but they would do it.
Just crazy.

About one million innocent North Korean citizens also perished in famines due to never-ending sanctions. 😔

May I also remind you of the fact that our Native American population in our motherland, the Continent of America before the European Colonizers arrived, was around 15 millions, while the European population in their motherland, the Continent of Europe was around 25 millions.
Today, Native American population is 15 million, while the European population, in the Continents of America + Europe, is a staggering TWO BILLION! A shockingly sad truth. 😔
In my humble opinion, it's about time to decolonize the Colonized lands, and return to rightful owners Native American people.
Notorious global cardinal crimes the Christian West has committed, and benefited a great deal, such as centuries-long global Slavery & Colonialism had long been over, why on earth is notorious Colonization still lingering on, may I ask? 🙁🤷
O.K
Right on.
Free? What are you 12?
My jaw dropped as I read Native American population in their motherland, the Continent of America before the European Colonizers arrived, was around 15 millions, while the European population in their motherland, the Continent of Europe was around 25 millions.
Today, Native American population is 15 million, while the European population, in the Continents of America + Europe, is a staggering TWO BILLION. It is a shockingly sad truth. 😔
For centuries, in vast bountiful North & South America, the motherland of Native American people, where the vast majority of the population, hundreds of millions of Europeans were from all over and every corner of Northern & Southern Europe brought in over to occupy the Native American lands.
Similarly, here in the Asia-Pacific region, the vast majority of the population in Vast bountiful Australia & New Zealand, tens of millions of Europeans were from all over Europe brought in over to the Asia-Pacific, the motherland of Native Asian-Pacific people.
'Slavery, Genocide, Colonialism & Colonization' are all evil things done and benefited by evildoers.
Speaking of Native American people who have not occupied an inch of European land, or slaughtered a single European in Europe; while European Colonizers have occupied both North & South America lands and terminated 99.9% of Natives population.. A shockingly sad truth.
What European Colonizers did to the Native American people in their own motherland, wiping them out almost entirely after tens of thousands of years of profound culture.. It's really sad and disgusting how so many Native people of the Americas were wiped out by genocide and Colonization. 😔

@liamanonuevo4964 it really doesn't, sure it's interesting enough to appease western call of duty people that believe America is the world police. In that sense, yes, it's good. In reality, it doesn't depict 100% the entire truth, and I'm not saying the Kim regime/leadership is good, it's definitely not, but this documentary only shows one side of the story.
Marxism-Leninism is at the heart of all totalitarian police state regimes.
I am pretty sure there will be triology of movies about this kingdom. Full of mysteries with emotions, betrayal, honor, and greed.
