If you want to complete the Nicholas Cage trifecta, consider reacting to "The Rock" (1996) and "Con Air" (1997) with stacked casts.
*RED ROCK WEST (1993)*
*HONEYMOON IN VEGAS (1992)*
Snake Eyes and the 2 National Treasure films
RAISING ARIZONA
John Travolta playing Nicholas Cage playing John Travolta, facing Nicholas Cage playing John Travolta playing Nicholas Cage.
Just perfect!
My brain is melting at the thought of it, lol
Oh no, I've gone cross-eyed! 🤓
"I'm a dude playing a dude disguised as another dude". : )
Imagine being an A-list actor, and being told you'd get to play both the hero and the villain in the same movie. What a fun project this must have been for Cage and Travolta.
That's why he gets the A-list money 💰
That would just be so much fun!
@@VerowakReactsBeen a while since I've seen this movie 🍿🎥 but I think you are not a 100% on the acting of the acting ⁉️ Maybe the wrong side of 50/50?? Even with the "Face exchange" they are them acting like them?? Just them acting like they are the other,,,, acting like them (selves) until they FACE each other?? HAAA!! Ya this is Better than I remember!! Thanks Lady Verowak!! ☮️
Especially dancing and head banging with a preist outfit 😂
"His face is getting away." 🤣
"Face Off?!?!"
That title realization by V was hilarious!
We all knew going in what was going to happen.
This movie is wild. Nic Cage's acting is nuts too.
It is! Very pleasantly surprised at how he did
Not really. He's crazy before the face transfer but after that he just plays a pretty standard hero character, and that happens by the end of act 1. Travolta really brings it.
Face Off is an action movie classic. Great performances by Cage / Travolta.
I'm instantly a fan based on their performances in this movie :D
I like how both actors had to act as each other.
They did wonderfully
I do the "hand thing" on every first date i go on. The ladies love it. One of these days i might even go on a second date.
More trivia:
The movie was supposed to be set in "the near future", where the face technology would fit better, but for various reasons it was decided that it should be set in the present. Obviously they had to keep the surgery part.
The boots the prisoners wore are reused props from the Super Mario Bros movie from 1993, because "they were cool".
Loved when you said "His face is getting away!" Absolutely classic. Thanks for the great reaction.
right behind Hard Boiled and Blast Killer, one of John Woo's best movies
Face Off is basically a "greatest hits" John Woo film... and its a blast. "Hard Boiled" and "The Killer" are absolute must watch from him. You'll probably enjoy "Broken Arrow" too, lots of silly fun with Travolta again and Christian Slater, here you will discover Woo's dislike of Helicopters 😆 Good reaction.
Love early John Woo's film Hard Boiled... Not about eggs.
Damn, I was hoping for some eggs in that movie!
Seems like there's a bunch of good John Woo movies! I'm looking forward to them :D
I love The Killer! Hard Boiled is pretty good too
I had a feeling that giving the daughter a knife would become important. Just didn’t realize how badly it would backfire on the real Castor Troy! How ironic was that?!
The like one good/nice thing he did as Sean Archer came back to bite him 😂
Great choice. John Woo is incredible as a director. He’s mostly known for foreign films like Hard Boiled and The Killer, but his tone in the movies are the same: full blown nutty action. Glad you’re giving this underrated gem a reaction. Excited to watch.
She's Canadian so an American film like Face/Off would also be a foreign film.
Ahhh FaceOff!!! I love this movie because it's the protagonist vs. bad guy vs. antagonist vs good guy. Who.. actually won?!!🤔
Yes. That's who won 😂
I'm glad you enjoyed this movie! A lot of people are overly critical of it because they come into it with the wrong expectations.
The movie was such a blast, it sucks that people are overly critical because it's such a fun movie. Their loss lol
We're getting ever so closer to watching 'The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent'.. and I can't wait!
I was already a fan of Pedro Pascal, now that I've seen Nic Cage... I'm almost there! I may check out a few more Nic Cage movies first though
@@VerowakReacts 100% watch some more of Nick Cage's films.. the essentials are; this film, 'Lord of War', 'Con Air' and 'The Rock'. (I think.. someone will correct me if there's more). But one of my favourite films of his is 'Snake Eyes' co-starring Gary Sinise
Nic cage making this movie and con air a day apart is legendary
I didn't know that! I'll have to see Con Air soon
I absolutely LOVED that you got to discover what the title meant real-time. Your expression at that moment is priceless! : D
John Woo soecializes is absurd and incredible action with really unique corny sentimentality and romanticism that's so fun to watch. Face Off is the most successful vehicle for that for his American films but a few others are well worth watching. And his Hong Kong films are mind blowing.
great reaction to a silly but enjoyable over the top action movie big thumbs up
Thank you, I thoroughly enjoyed the madness of this movie :D
Things you'll never hear someone again: "His face is getting away!"
😅
I never thought I would say that 🤣
Thx for sharing V! I think this is my favorite Nick Cage movie. Wonderful that you finally get to know the meaning of that face off reference too! 🙂👏
It's such a splendid movie! I'm so glad I got to see Nic Cage be serious since all I've ever seen were memes of him lol
Yes! Thank you for reacting to this! its such a fun movie. I love how unapologetically over the top it is. From the way pollux speaks to the dual golden gun scenes when cage jumps out of the plane xD its just all delicious. Again, thanks! I will now head/off to other places!
It's over the top without being bad, so just the perfect level!
0:40 🤣...
9:36 Now you get it! 😃🤣
It all made sense!! 🤣
If you like to see Nicholas Cage in a serious roll, check out, The Knowing.
I always found it funny. Both hero and villain always hit who they're aiming at except each other.
2:55 how i wake up every morning
There's a great podcast called "How did this get made" and they cover this movie on an episode. It's a solid hour of hilarity. They invent the phrase "hand waterfall".😅
Ooh, I'll have to check out that podcast, it sounds great :D
Saw someone online elsewhere that reminded me a lot of you. Took a screenshot, but we can't share those here.
It was just weird. I saw this woman for the first few seconds and was like, "I know her from somewhere, but where? Oh, that's the reaction lady, Verowak!" But then realized it couldn't be.
I've always wanted to find my doppelganger(s)!
Hard Target is another great John Woo movie with Jean Claude Van Damme, Lance Henriksen (Aliens) and Arnold Vosloo (The Mummy). Maybe also one of the best JCVD movies beside Bloodsport.
It's my favorite JCVD movie.
I appreciate the ACAB sentiment and The Princess Bride reference was a bonus. You earned a subscribe!
Haha welcome!!
"A bit" of ridiculousness. Hah. At your "Oh yes, Father" my thought was, "No, he's Daddy." XD
hahaha!!! 🤣
1:16 Love the Freddy Mercury mustache, he should’ve kept it lol
I would not have been able to take him seriously lol
@@VerowakReacts I know, that’s probably why they only had if for the flashback, lol
Jean-Claude Van Damme gets a lot of crap and probably deservedly, but John woo did direct, in my opinion one of the best Jean-Claude Van Damme movies in Hard Target (1993) ... If you care.
John Woo has his style that I think appeals more to some than others ... The slow motion spins of heros dual wielding pistols as doves fly across the scene isn't for everyone, but I could watch his movies all day long.
This is one movie I return to sooooo much, I've easily seen it 20+ times because it's a classic popcorn action movie with enough "character" to be more than that.
Honestly a classic
Nicolas Cage's crazy smile makes me 🤣
His expressions are amazing!
My ABSOLUTE favorite action/thriller movie of all time! One of a kind, will never be outdone...
So fun and such a unique series of events!
And as a dessert, let's watch the pitch meeting for this movie 😋
"nic cage would do really well in a serious role"
Well this was about a year after he won Best Actor for Leaving Las Vegas
I was thinking the same thing, lol. If you haven't seen Cage's newest film Renfield it's not bad. Some great action scenes with Cage as Renfield's boss count Dracula. Some of the clips are here on youtube. Just type in the search bar Renfield action scenes.
I didn't know he won an Oscar. That's a movie I'll have to check out then
@@VerowakReacts Definitely check out Leaving Las Vegas. Sometimes it's hard to tell why Nic Cage is so well regarded as an actor since he can be a little zany in his roles, but Leaving Las Vegas will make it clear.
Also, if you want another John Woo film you should check out Broken Arrow which also stars John Travolta. It's a rather standard action film plot, so nothing quite as high concept as Face/Off, but you'll get to see some more of Woo's skill as an action director and it's a pretty solid film.
@@VerowakReacts it's a downer drama, not sure it's good for reacting, not to tell you not to see it
@@Demigord Some movies that should do well for reactions don't for my channel so it doesn't really matter 🤣
Cage went from shooting Con Air straight into this which explains his unhinged performance.
Hard Target and Broken Arrow are also John Woo and both mindlessly entertaining.
Hello Miss Verowak, nice to see you!😊 So, you are finally watching this crazy film!🤪 Now you'll know what your brother meant.😉 I think those green things on the table were "Artichokes" with the lobster and other foods. The knife fake Archer gives to his daughter is a "Butterfly knife". You're too funny, Vero. "His face is getting away!"😄 Two more Nicolas Cage action films with all star casts are "The Rock" (1996) and "Con Air" (1997). Both are very popular action films, "The Rock" especially.😉 Great reactions to this well made and acted action film, Miss Verowak!!!!🎬👏👏👏👏
Hey Mike! This crazy film was so amazing!! I learned so much watching this movie, and know that those vegetables are artichokes now too 😂
Oh yeah, I wanted to watch "The Rock" even since learning it's not about the wrestler 🤣
Thanks, Verowak! 🔄 Be sure to catch Mr. Travolta in SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER (1977) and GREASE (1978). Be sure to catch Mr. Cage in PEGGY SUE GOT MARRIED (1986) and RAISING ARIZONA (1987).
I really need to stop watching movies with actors I haven't seen before, there are always so many more movies to add to my list! Thank you for the suggestions!!
@@VerowakReacts It's okay to watch movies in whatever order... just keep watchin', keep appreciatin'. 📺 And you're so very welcome, as always.
Ok so John Travolta movies to watch, certainly Pulp Fiction, Saturday Night Fever, and Broken Arrow. Nicolas Cage movies,Con Air, and Raising Arizona.
I only heard of two of those :D I'll start with those ones (Pulp Fiction and Con Air)
Also, watch for doves in John Woo movies.
Happy to see you reacting to this classic action movie. I miss the 90s my childhood.
Love This movie. So underrated! Just fun !
Yes, just so much fun! I love it too!
What a great movie...even with the over the top explosions. Loved your reaction as always...
Nic Cage got an Oscar for Leaving Las Vegas. Worth checking out.
I will have to yeah!
I once explained the basics of this film to a girlfriend and she thought i was making it up. I had to buy a copy to prove it
Any excuse to watch this movie is a good one 😁
Those were Zip disks utilized in Zip Drives circa late 90s computer tech.
The Nic Cage 90’s action trifecta is: The Rock, Con Air, Face Off.
Another John Woo banger mentioned throughout these comments: Hard Target.
WHAT?!?!
Well let's make some lists!
Cage:
The Rock
Gone In 60 Seconds
Con Air
National Treasure
It Could Happen To You
Travolta:
Grease
Look Who's Talking
Pulp Fiction
Broken Arrow
Phenomenon
She hasn’t seen a John Travolta movie before and nobody recommended Pulp Fiction yet? Inconceivable!
At least I know of Pulp Fiction and the John Travolta meme 🤣
Nah. Welcome Back Kotter! Up your nose with a rubber hose!
IT nerd here, what they handed him was a Iomega Drive disk, i remember those, they could handle 100Mb or more, floppys could only handle 1.44Mb 😊
Oh, is that the same thing as a Zip Drive?
All YT reactors are pleasantly surprised how good Arnold Schwarzenegger's filmography is when they dive in
It's fun finding an actor who has been in a bunch of fun and entertaining movies :D
One fun fact I haven't seen anyone mention is that the actor who played Castor Troy's brother also played Billy in Jurassic Park III.
What?! Really?!?! I did not recognize him at all!! I can see how superman could disguise himself as Clark Kent, it's the damn glasses!!
@@VerowakReacts Yeah I didn't recognize him either until another commenter pointed it out several months ago. I was like, "no way." So I looked it up and sure enough it's the same actor. I can see it now when I look at him closely.
@@stevenalexander6713 The two characters are so different, I love it!
@@VerowakReacts I do, too. That's Johnny Depp-level versatility.
"eel infested waters" i love your references :)
Hard Target is my favorite John Woo movie.
This movie is so hilariously epic
One thing I like about this Plot is that Both Actors got to Play the Good Guy and the Bad Guy
Yes!!! So fun, I wish more movies have actors that chance lol
This is somewhat unfortunately, John Woo's best Hollywood movie. The other one worth seeing is "Hard Target" ("Broken Arrow" "Paycheck" and "Windtalkers" are all OK but not great)
But definitely see his HK movies "The Killer" "Hardboiled" "Bullet in the Head" and the long version of "Red Cliff"
Oh! And also "Once a Thief" (1991)
when you think about it it's so not credible..... cage and Travolta don't have the same height, the same build or the same weight....😂. but we believe it all the same!! The magic of cinema
Definitely not credible, but really fun nonetheless! Haha
Thanks again Vera. It was fun. And remember to twist the knife so the womb won't heal. 🤭
When you said Eel infested waters I lost it 😂
Arnold and Stalone were supposed to be the leads but Jon Woo thought Cage and Travolta would make for a better movie.
If you are interested in a great Travolta movie, I recommend Michael and Phenomenon. Both are great.
Leaving Las Vegas.
The daughter, Dominique Swain, has gone on to have one of the most phenomenal D-list actor careers ever. She may hold the record for most movies with a sub 5 rating on IMDB.
Not gonna lie, if you like this, you should check out Broken Arrow, with Christian Slater and John Travolta… Even with out Nic Cage, Travolta goes FULL NIC CAGE in that film! It’s awesome, hilarious and pretty thrilling, actually.
Face/Off is a great movie by John Woo. It's unfair to say this, but you can almost reduce John Woo movies down to 'Slow motion' and 'Doves'.
Other movies of him that I liked are MI:2, Broken Arrow and Hard Target. There are other great movies that I have not seen.
Many people complained about Mission Impossible 2. I believe these are people that mostly had not seen any of his previous movies including Face/Off
Face/Off is a masterclass in acting and mimicry. John Travolta mimicking Nic Cage is brilliant and Nic Cage's over-acting was neccessary to establish Castor Troy's style so quickly.
This is really good movie and I am glad you enjoyed it.
John Woo's was the original slow motion master, his style was some of the earlier in movie history, before everyone started over doing it. Absolutley love this movie. You should definitely watch Hard Target.
This was a Great Reaction
Thank you!! 🤩
This is one of the greatest movies ever, but not how they intended it to be. This is one of the better comedies to exist.
Even the prospect of people not noticing taller & fat Travolta swapped faces with shorter more athletic Nick Cage. There’s one line I love, an FBI agent who’s got more power says “get the LAPD on this!”
That line made me write a short story of a Secret Service agent saving the life of The President, & being promoted to the greatest crime prevention agencies ever… The LAPD!
They’ve got jet packs, scrambler jets, super model secretaries, & even Dark Knight styled tank vehicles.
If anyone's interested in watching Cage's newest films one I highly recommend is Renfrew. Cage playing an even more out of control Dracula is well... Something that's been keeping me a fan of the guy all these years.
After you said face off like that I was just waiting for that part. I totally got it. I wonder how it came up with your brother. Oh god van damn? The terminator? Sreven segal? Would be aweful. De nero an al pacino... maybe but nick cage and traavolta are perfectly suited for over the top crazy stuff like this
For Nick Cage in a serious role in a great movie, please watch Moonstruck (also staring Cher).
Got to watch Nic in "The Rock" with Sean Connery.
This movie is a trip.
Super cheesy, super fun. Great performances.
0:25 …and doves
Your hair looks very nice
Thank you! 😊
It's definitely one of the classic action movies.
21:16 Artichokes. 🙂
Ahh! Thank you lol
@@VerowakReacts No problem! 😊
A Stallone vs Schwarzeneggar Face Off would have been much weaker IMO. Stallone is a good, sometimes great, actor, but Arnold, not so much. He's come a long way, but during this period, I don't think he could have carried either role sufficiently. Denzel vs Snipes and Pacino vs DeNiro would have been amazing though.
Face/Off isn't a remake, but it borrows a lot of its elements from Woo's earlier (and better) movie The Killer (1989), filmed while he was still in Hong Kong. You should check it out.
I'm early seems like = P. And great movie btw. Gonna enjoy the next 47min with you reacting to it x).
I hope you enjoyed it!!! And thanks for being early :D
The idea that you can just get parents a replacement son is kinda wild honestly.
I loved this movie as well. I was a huge John Woo fan and this movie was a treat.
If you are interested in watching Hong Kong movies with subtitles I recommend The Killer and Hard Boiled
Isn't it great when they catch the bad guy in the first 10-15 minutes? It sure can spare us from having to watch movies for over an hour.
Broken Arrow is another John woo classic also with Travolta
You probably won't see this, but I swear I still say the face off thing just like your brother did even now to this day. It must have been something us dumb boys all did after seeing this movie as kids in the theater 😂. It used to piss my mom off so much because it got to the point where I said it for anything related to a face. I also have a friend who still does it all the time. It's just the way Nick Cage said it was so ridiculous
I love how people pick up the same things from a movie! Nic Cage seems to have very memorable delivery of lines haha
Nick cage won a academy award for a movie called Leaving Las Vegas. If your looking for a serious depressing role
More of John Woo's Hollywood filmography (not his best stuff, but big action fun) - Hard Target (Jean Claude Van Damme), Paycheck (Ben Affleck), Broken Arrow (Travolta again), Windtalkers (Cage again)
I recommend the movie "The Wysterplate Mystery" 2013
I'm pretty sure half this movie they just filmed Nicolas Cage and didn't tell him to act.
Part II 😁 Arnold and Sly⁉️ That would have sucked!! Instead of FACE OFF it would have been a PUN OFF or a improv contest!! 🕊️☮️
FUNNY FACE/OFF (1997 ) FILM - REACTION AND COMMENTARY - FIRST TIME WATCHING !!!
There are a few James Bond films with boat chases in them that are good.
When there is a child death it doesn't work out. Unless you lose both at the same time
I don't know why, but I always thought Cage was the good guy and Travolta the bad guy. But then I suppose that is the second half of the film. Just the way I remember it
If you think Cage is the good guy and Travolta is the bad guy, or vice versa, you're right anyways!
I was working for Mann THeatres when this came out... and we were all college fanboys/girls for John Woo films. Such a great action movie.
It was such a fun movie, and I definitely need to see more John Woo movies lol
