I'm in process of sorting & donating fabric, extensive collection inherent from my mom & sister. Hate giving up my fabric but no longer physically able to keep lifting & moving large bins...found a local church group to give it too. Mom & sister would approve of where fabric is going.
I loved seeing your thought process as you sorted those bins. It may not be directly relevant to me as a hobby quilter rather than a business quilter, but there is definitely cross-over. I keep one large bin for ‘backgrounds’ and a separate bin for backings which I buy in sales. I’m sure your local charity quilting group will be delighted with any fabrics you send to them to work with as you have such wonderful taste. Thanks for continuing to inspire us with your sharing 😎
Yes, Yes! I absolutely loved watching you sort through your bins of fabric. It gives me ideas for sorting my stuff and for future projrects. My little tip for large chunks/backing fabric: I have a larger tub just for those big yardage pieces that could be backings. I measure each piece and pin a slip of paper with the yardage amount to the fabric. That way when I am looking for a backing, I can tell right away if the piece is large enough for my current project. Saves me tons of time when I am rooting around for a backing fabric.
I’m just a little behind but will catch up this week. I’m using a Kindle edition of the book since the hardback is on back order. So far so good. Love these daily videos, just long enough! Thanks Pat for making me laugh daily! You are my quilting therapy!!😃
I am always so impressed with the way you have your workspace set up. You should give a class on organizing! Now I want to run out and get some proper size shelves for my own room - also, I would love to sit in the middle of your floor throwing all of that beautiful fabric into the air and laugh with hysterical joy. :D
When I watch you I feel like I'm hanging out with you in your studio! Love to see how you think through the decisions for your projects and more often that not I agree with your choices. You are so productive for your business so it's also educational to see how you keep all the balls you have in the air at once organized and on track!

It's always fun to watch you keep your collection clean and sorted. I sorted before Christmas, but it will need it again in the spring. Your snow view with the trees dripping with snow looks like my Maryland backyard. The trees are leaning toward my house, so I hope the snow falls off the trees sooner than later! Happy Sorting!
I enjoyed watching you sort. The watching is nicer then the actual doing. I just get overwhelmed and frustrated. But thanks for the ideas I will start slowly and plow through. Speaking of plowing that's a nice snow fall. ❄
You need to push through that feeling or you'll never get it done. Often you cannot sort quickly it takes days you need to pull it all out sort it into what you're currently using what you expect to use and what you'll never use. Then take your time to put it back don't rush you can do it!
I definitely enjoyed your sorting video - it's fun to see what someone else has in their "forgotten" stash, to see someone else's method of sorting out, and to inspire me to go through my stash to better sort & organize it. I did some during the holidays (four big totes), but I want to go through my yardage & precuts - get the yardage wrapped on comic boards (or at least neater on the shelf) and try to put some fabric pulls together for upcoming SALs. I have more than enough fabric on hand, so I'm going to be diligent this year in using my stash.
I enjoyed the sorting today. I have less of a stash than you do, but I still find fabrics and other items I forgot I had. I think it's a good idea to go through our stashes every few months.
Your organizing session inspired me to start doing the same! I have a long way to go but at least I have started and I have one table cleared off. Thanks for the encouragement. It feels so good!

I love seeing your sorting process. It has helped me a lot as I am in the process of downsizing my sewing room. I will be moving into an ADU within the next year or so. Which means I am going from a sewing room to a small sewing space. I will be donating many of my quilting books, patterns, fabric as well as cross stitch patterns, fabrics, and books/magazines. I love your sorting, it’s just they way I do mine too. I grew up with this Motto: Everything has a place AND Everything in it. My. Other was super organized, and that’s helped me be the same.
So appropriate for this week. College granddaughter is home and here for week and helping me to better organize at least half of my fabric and sewing accessories

can't use a tote, i have no space in here, my ONLY room vent is under that table so it can not be blocked
