Please don't say things like that. No victim will "let" abuse. Especially those of us who have been abused since childhood, when they are told and shown that is all they are worth and all they deserve their whole life, they learn to believe it. Abusers are predators and recognise us as prey, no abusive relationship starts that way, the fear and pain ramps up over time until they are trapped by it.

When I tried to leave my last partner's abuse, he held and tortured me (literally). I was grateful to eventually escape alive, fighting back and trying to leave can be dangerous surprisingly often.

It is different to the abuse I went through, but being cheated on must be heartbreaking and really injure your soul, some people carry trust issues for life because of that, and alcoholics are often very verbally abusive if not also physically. It's no wonder you were diagnosed with depression! You're a good person to show them the harm they were causing, not only to you but to themselves. I'm so glad you were able to take your life back. I have been been with the most wonderful man for the last 15 years, the first part of my life without abuse, but I still pay for the almost 40 years before him. Apart from the physical scars, I'm in ongoing treatment for cPTSD, I suffer terribly with hypervigilance and dissociation and social anxiety and nightmares and sleep paralysis, sometimes hallucinations and flashbacks, and while the cause is specific I can be triggered quite easily. That person I mentioned used isolation and restraint, starvation and sleep deprivation, assaulted and abused me and wounds and illness were not allowed medical treatment...I escaped a 44kg wreck, pooping blood, barely able to function and absolutely broken physically and mentally. So I appreciate your message of empowerment, I admire your strength, and I am right there with you! And I really am sorry if I offended you in my first message.

last story: ok she got married to someone else and time passed how is she NOT able to forgive her sister?? time heals all wounds.
