Kate and Leisha have said on their podcast numerous times that what made the original L Word so special was the friendships between all the women. Gen Q doesn’t have this at all. This is what happens when a brilliant writer like Ilene Chaiken passes the torch to a mediocre writer like Marja. It’s so sad. Gen Q is a dumpster fire and I feel so bad for the OG actors that fought for this reboot.

What I would give to have a whole TH-cam series watching Leisha and Kate pick up the OG members of The L Word in a big school bus while chatting about the good old days! I understand their plight, it's truly not fair that we have such an amazing group of people more than willing to hop on and they just won't do it. Hoping we don't get shafted in 9 and 10.

It's such a disappointment that Gen Q has been so anti the OG show and characters. They had such an opportunity to capitalize on a huge following, and unfortunately their insecurities regarding the main show have made everything a mess. I'm nervous for episodes 9 & 10, because they have made it clear that they are not invested whatsoever in the fans favorite characters (Bette and Tina & Gigi).
The fact that they not promoting, not saying or showing us anything about Bette and Tina returning to the last 2 episodes, makes my blood boil… 🤦♀️ if it wasn’t for Ash I wouldn’t even know they are returning, I would’ve lost hope after first 2 episodes… the audacity of showtime.. and such a miss opportunity for them. We need answers. Kate and Leisha talking about wanting to have a different reboot says it all. Even the zombie apocalypse would be so much better than what the fans are getting now.. We can tell Kate and Leisha are not happy, im sure they cannot wait to rant when the show is over. And they said that they hear us and know what we want, unfortunately its not up to them, so sad. Im glad they are on our side. My wife said that the Gen Q is ruining The Original L Word legacy. Which I agree. If they wanted to make something different they never should’ve named it The L Word Gen Q, should’ve left that name out. JB, KM, LH and Ilenne worked so hard to pitch this show back on air, I just wished they were in charge of the whole thing.. As soon as Bette said Kit dies of an over dose I knew this show would not be good. The whole thing has been frustrating. I wish they would get the bus load of people they want. Find new writers a new show runner and start a new show and do it right.
I knew it was gonna be a mess when 1. They killed off kit, 2. Tibette were broken up AGAIN, 3. Tasha and Alice were ALSO broken up and 4. Most of the new characters (not Dani) were boring or unlikable

Ash, when Leisha posted the photo on IG of the three of them I commented "Where's Mia?" because they always talk about the 4 of them in Vancouver when they talk about the original show. I think Kate and Leisha are as fed up as we are! I think Jennifer losing her producer credit was the last straw for them. To think that they took a show that is revered around the world and destroyed its legacy is the biggest of insults to Ilene, Jennifer, Kate Leisha, and all those who made it what it was.

Gen Q has been a total flop and it makes me extremely sad. With how hard Jen, Kate, Leisha and Ilene fought to bring the show back, I feel so bad that they’ve been let down like this. The OG had such a huge legacy and there was so many storylines from the end of the OG that they could have used to continue this show. It just sucks that this is what we are going to be left with and the legacy of The L Word is going to be tainted by this absolute shit show 😭😭

Ever since the showrunner said they won't bring Sarah Shahi back since she isn't 100% Mexican I haven't given a shit about this show. Majority of the fans want Shane and Carmen to have either some actual closure or to continue that romance.
If you had told me before this season started that the highlight of s3 would be 7 mins of a Pants podcast I wouldn’t have believed it. They had me in tears! 😂 IMO I think they finally spoke out after seeing the fan reactions and maybe to see if they can rally enough social/fan support to force changes in the show. The people that run this show are flat out delusional - squeezing out the OGs and Gigi is INSANE. Without them, the show is an unwatchable, incoherent, boring and poorly written dumpster fire. I’d say most fans would gladly jump ship and get on that magic bus with Leisha and Kate!
Leisha and Kate should venture out and bring back The L Word on their own...Make it a Pants production and reach out to other Networks..They have the history, knowledge, skillset for producing, directing, the talent to write and act, the respect to bring people on board that want to come back...I think it would be an awesome attempt to revive and give closer as they say...And I think Showtime nixed some because of their dedication to other things they (the netowork) may not want to be involved with. Sadly the networks only like controversy if they own the rights to it.
The downfall of Gen Q is squarely on Marja and the writer's. You can hear the frustration and disappointment in Kate's voice and Leisha's voice. Marja had Gen Q's version of Bette and Tina in Gigi and Dani. The interaction between the OG's and the new cast has been mumbo-jumbo and has made no sense. I'm not being a smart ass but L Word fans could write better storylines, and the interaction between the OG's and the new cast would make sense. I said on Twitter today that I get more information and promotion by watching this channel. Thank you, Ash, for all you do for us, and I think everyone would agree that we appreciate you very much.

This is so infuriating, cause now I feel for ep 9 Bette and Tina will prob show up at the end giving them prob less than 10 min screen time OR (and I don't wanna think this)...They cut the Tina Bette scenes. What pisses me off is that GenQ people show indifference to us OG fans+OG characters , BUT benefited from the OG legacy that allowed them to have a GenQ show in the 1st place. Do peeps forget that Jennifer Beals and co were the ones to fight to bring this show back? and this is the thanks they get? We built this, show some respect. I'm in a fb group and I swear I'm starting to see a hatred towards those of us that love Bette and Tina! I've also noticed that this younger generation doesn't give two shits about our generation. I'm starting to get really pissed about it actually.
They really dropped the ball! When you think of reboots of shows from 15+ years ago, you wonder if characters would even be interested or (not to be morbid) alive or in good health after a long time to reprise their past roles. The L Word is sooooo lucky to have the privilege of having not only a good amount of past characters HIGHLY INTERESTED (thinking of a recent Sara interview) but available and present to reprise their roles. Why not use the opportunity to either close chapters or give fans incredible moments? It's ridiculous.
Thanks for the video Ash 😍 I think they're keeping quiet about episodes 9&10 because they want us to watch all episodes trying to catch hints of what's coming. If they would've spilled the beans early everyone would hold off on watching till the last two episodes.
I would have hope that promotions are coming next week but I recently listened to a podcast that I believe is sponsored and they downplayed Bette & Tina in their reviews for the first two episodes so badly that I was in shock. I now believe that there is an idea to "cut the top" lead actresses from this show and Bette & Tina are not going to get the celebration I think that they deserve. For me, they are the First and BEST WLW couple in a series representing a 20 year relationship. They are also actresses that became advocates and helped push the equality we enjoy today. I appreciate them and would like more promotions as well.
Oh wow!!! I did think that mentioning Sepideh was quite significant....but didn't notice the change in sound. You're right, they added it in. That's significant. Things get curiouser and curiouser!! It wasn't as subtle though as you'd think 😆😆😆
We really are missing the friendship aspects of the show. I miss the long scenes with important conversations that happened in the OG seasons. The reboot is mostly just relationship drama and I feel like having the main ensemble places be a bar and Alices set makes it difficult to accommodate these conversations. Also I still am not over how they dismissed Jenny’s death as a suicide and nobody has mentioned it since makes me so sad. Jenny was a huge part of their lives - especially Shane’s and to have nobody speak her name makes me so sad. I know a lot of people hated Jenny but I think to never speak of her while Shane literally runs a bar called Dana’s is a bit of a miss for me. Also it’d be great to have heard more about Kits passing too, she too deserved more than to have met the fate of a drug overdose!!! If anything, Dana’s should have been named Kits especially since it’s become the new planet.
This is a great point, and Kate has alluded to this a few times on the pod. Neither one of Leisha or Kate has talked about a lot of the audience hating Jenny, but they have talked about how much they love Mia and love what she did with that character, and both have said they would've liked to have her back. The fact that they just dismissed Jenny's death like it was nothing - when literally ALL of season 6 was centered around it was really messed up in my judgment. (Now, season 6 of the OG was terrible, but, I digress :) ) But like you said, regardless of what your feelings are on Jenny, she was vital to the show, and there wouldn't have been a show without her (something Kate and Leisha have also said), so just casting her aside they way they have is bothersome. Same thing with Kit. She wasn't a main character, but she was definitely an important one, and just throwing her out and giving basically no explanation or closure was super messed up.
Sepi new interview promoting blackbird show was not a dig but when she talked about "patient story telling" I remembered how marja tells short term stories that don't last more than 2-3 episodes lmfao

Wow, I listened to the Pants podcast today and it was a bomb! Although these two are hilarious as always, playing off of each other, they weren’t kidding about the storylines that drop people off like hitchhikers, never to be heard from or seen again. I wish Carmen could come back. I get that people will feel that is cultural appropriation. But hear me out. The writers wanted authenticity, but as a mixed-race woman from an interracial household and marriage, should I be offended that a mono-racial acress was cast as Angie? I mean she is not half white. Double standard in a sense. And before people say, "but mixed people can claim their POC sides only"...that is fine. But many of us claim all of ourselves and if you were not raised like we were, it is NOT authentic. Just saying.
Wanna say this again. The new peeps don't get to benefit from the OG legacy and sh!t on that same OG legacy. A big takeaway from the Pants podcast is Kate and Leisha basically saying that we the OG fans and both of them are on the same page with our views about the direction of this show. If we are feeling this level of frustration, can only imagine what Jen, Kate, Leisha, Illene are feeling. All because of nepotism and connections we may not have a proper send off for Bette and Tina. Also, Sepi REALLY enjoyed being on this show last season. I saw it in her body language. But her last eps of S3 she looked drained and sad. *SIGHS*

Thanks for the update as am yet to hear the current Pants podcast as yet. I feel sorry for Kate and Leisha, by the sound bite, I am concerned that even though both directed and episode that the edits of them did not show the work they did justice. A sad state of affairs as we can see the errors but those in power appear dismissive of the needs and wants of the OG's as well as the core audience of the show.
Never thought I’d hear KM and LH reveal that info. They’re very careful, professional and both want continue to employment in the entertainment industry. I’m hopeful this might mean change is underway, or at least pressing in that direction.
I dont understand the showrunner and everyone who is behind this series... this is unbelievable and I am becoming very angry, because people have high hopes for episode 9 and 10. I loved that Kate and Leisha became vocal about their feelings of the once iconic show. You could feel, that they are very unhappy with the current situation. I mean it is also their legacy and the L-word OG still means something and let's not forget how hard JB fought to reboot the show. I mean GenQ has had all the possibilities, but I get the feeling that Showtime and the showrunner don't care or care for different things. The audience of the L-word is special and extremley loyal and ignoring it so consequently is pretty low. As Ash has mentioned many times, I don't get that the show is not beimg promoted at all. Also, there has been not even a single statement regrading JB and SM leaving the show. I mean Jennifer is an icon in her own category and she will remain there, no matter what. Having a breakout star like Sepideh, who could have easily become the new face of GenQ, carried GenQ into a very good direction and was invested - to also loose her the way they di - pretty unforgiveable. I mean the show could have capitalized on SM... The stories are poor, incoherent, annoying and badly executed. There is no group dynamic and fun, like with the OG series. People and story lines are being pushed and given screentime who are not interesting at all... It is a big f*cking mess and sad what has become of the show. I totally agree with Ash on every level. I fast forward the show and enjoy your recaps 💗
Kehlani as Ivy really highlighted the lack of chemistry between Shane & Tess. Tess is annoying & needs to go. I would happily have Carmen, Quiara or even Jenny back !
I love that they always keep the show (and showrunner) honest. They've been doing it at least since the 2nd season, and then had Marja on an ep after the reason was done. And the criticisms then pale compare to the carnage of this season. Rant away, Ash. You are all of us!
In my opinion, the strategy was to do the season three low cost. Showing Bette and Tina in two first episodes probably goes with thinking that's enough to convince people to watch the entire season. The almost last scene with them was open on purpose-to make fans think they might be back in a few next episodes. They did the same with Gigi. The car scene with Nat wasn't finished and left many questions, many weird holes in her story. So they cut many costs by removing people from the screen and manipulating fans that theirs favourite characters might be back sooner or later since their stories were left so open. They did almost nothing for almost a whole season apart for making bad writing and decisions, so they ended up having extra money in their hands-they used them to invite guest stars, not well-known actors. It was cheap, so why not. Nothing more interesting to say or show, so maybe new faces sounded like a good idea. They also brought back a few OGs for a few minutes of screen time, possibly to fill some holes after Bette and Tina. And they also decided to have some great musicians on the show to keep fans still glued to the showtime subscription, just in case some of them might turn around and cancel it before. And they left the best on the end because clearly they wanted to give fans what they needed for so long-the Bette and Tina wedding. As everything, this was a wrap up to make fans think they care about us and our opinions, when they don't. And to make us forget about everything they did not necessarily like we wanted and to help them end the reboot on good terms or fight with them for season four. Ridiculous. Sorry for mistakes.
Is there some kind of obligation payment or something if Bette/Gigi’s names get mentioned? It’s beyond bizarre that neithers names have been mentioned and Gigi has only been mentioned as ‘my ex’. The thing is because Bette is coming back they should have had a couple of mentions of what they were up to to keep the casual Bette/TiBette fans watching just for the hope of getting a quick little nugget Production on the show must be aware of the things Kate and Leisha are saying? Like they aren’t even hiding it at this point how unhappy they are. I’ve mentioned it before but I really feel for JB, Kate and Leisha. They worked so hard to bring the show back and you can tell they’re just really unhappy with what it turned out to be I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they’re saving promo for after the trailer airs and then they’ll actually acknowledge their return. It’s an absolute golden opportunity to finally have social media posts that won’t be bombarded with negative comments 😂
I'm so glad I found this channel, I feel like my thoughts and feelings on this series have been validated - I thought I was going mad. Why are all the characters so disconnected?! I loved the L Word for the strong friendships as much as I did the relationships. I can't even tell anymore how they know each other, or if some of the characters even DO know some of the others. Angie is literally out on her own these days, she has no connection to anyone else. And when they do bring back a character who was part of a friendship group, they don't even mention the dead friend they had in common - why is Jenny a forbidden word? So many other things in the reboot I didn't ever understand - I don't believe Tina wouldn't go to Kit's funeral and what happened to the kid Bette and Tina were meant to be adopting at the end of the OG? Even the geography of where they live in relation to each other feels disconnected. There is a lack of substance.
I think the original plan was to get the LWord jumping again by starting with the OG cast, and slowly eliminate them, to keep the show running with new comers. However, they failed big time, besides Gigi and Dani, the new cast suck! Nothing like the OG's. How dare them mess with Tibette. 😋
Its because these new characters lack any depth. Dani and gigi I like but again they are not explored in depth as characters and the others may as well be walkons.....micha for example and Finley 🙄

Jennifer Beals leaving to give more space for other stories is NOT the reason she left. She couldn’t say the truth. She left bc Marja has destroyed the legacy & she doesn’t want to be a part of it anymore. No Jennifer. No Laurel. Are Leisha & Kate in some kind of contract? Bc if there’s a season 4 (which I highly doubt there will be) I can’t see how they would jump on that bus again. Most of us like to forget season 6 existed in the original. I’d like to forget there was ever a reboot. Should’ve just been Gen Q with NO OG’s. I would’ve never watched. Leisha & Kate have their own podcast. They should pitch their own show. Trust me. Gen Q would be left with nothing which is what is already happening. OG’s will ALWAYS outnumber the newbies. The show wouldn’t have been what it became without us. I feel slapped in the face and spit on. Can’t imagine how the OG’s must feel. Marja has a God complex. Except for Tibette being endgame, I am disgusted and heartbroken over this 💩 show😔

Your comments shows me you have an open mind, you're intelligent, you're careful about what you say and how you say it, and you really do exercise fairness...I admire you for that. For many of us OG, and Gigi and Dani fans, what's happening to, or has happened to GenQ is personal. I understand when JB made the statement they want to tell new stories, ok, understood. But moving in the direction that GenQ is moving, which is what...I'm confused...mind boggling, as well as very disrespectful to the OGs and Sepideh fans. What really bothers me is that the "powers that be" don't care about how the fans feel. They have proven so far, they could careless! I only hope that episodes 9&10 are not sabotaged. I tell you what though, Karma is ABSOLUTELY a BEAST! The people behind all this confusion, will be looking for support on their next project, of which, they may not get it. As soon as episode 10 is over, I am DEFINITELY canceling my subscription to Showtime.

When I think of the original l word, my favorite bits were the simple times morning coffee with whole group at the planet, Shane and bette on the porch steps at end of the day,, the party scene with Shane Alice Tina dancing laughing singing... There's commiserating friends, there's joy, there's support for each other and that's what's missing for me in gen q. And who the f doesn't want Shane and carman reunion. And some Helena and Alice absurdities and laughs would be soo nice.
What are they doing??? I'm so angry and frustrated right now!!! I hope that Tibette will have anough screen time in episodes 9 and 10. Otherwise it would be really insane!
Ash, first I want to thank u for keeping us up to date. I think there must have been bad relationships between Showtime and Jennifer Beals and Sepideh Moafi and others. Showtime doesn't care about this show. I feel that true L Word fans are up to date with the show and will tune in for episodes 9 and 10.
They said in an early episode of Pants that Gen Q is basically a mea culpa for the OG L Word. Why does there *need* to be a mea culpa? If anyone thinks it was that "bad," make a new damn show. Don't try to stuff an iconic early-2000s lesbian soap opera into a 2020s box. It clearly doesn't work.
Kate and Leisha need to add Jennifer and Laurel to the bus!!!! For them to call it out as they did? I feel they had different expectations for the show than what the show runner did. I do believe they also tried to alienate the OG fans and silence the OG’s to focus on the GQ but… when that isn’t succeeding? Save it with the OG’s. I only watched because of Laurel’s return. That glimmer of hope for Bette and Tina. Without Laurel? I never would have watched Gen Q. Reboots are never as good as the original. But this? They had that potential. HAD. As I said before, and I know u have said u don’t agree…but I think Kate and Leisha will spill some more tea once the season ends as they have already said they would. They are both very aware of the fans disgust for Season 3 and it’s nice to know they are in alignment w the fans. After all this is more than a ‘job’ to them this show has made them lesbian icons and legends. It is their brand after all. I know I personally sent them an email telling how I felt and asked them to pitch a show bc anything would be better than this mess. Although I’m sure they had a blast making it, they obviously are aware that most folks didn’t like it which is why they said they were probably projecting when they talked about how ‘great’ it was 🤣 Glad I stopped watching the show months ago. I’m almost certain Bette/ Tina will not be in much of the last 2 episodes. It would only make sense given the other stupid decisions that have been made on the show. I know U don’t agree, but the trash that is Season 3 is totally Marja’s fault. Although she works for Showtime and everything must be approved by them, SHE is responsible for creative control. If the show had a good showrunner the show would look TOTALLY different and Sepi would be front and center, characters would have proper closer like ever other reboot/ continuation of an original beloved series, and the audience would NOT be bombarded w boring/ tone deaf storylines 99% of fans don’t care about. The fact that she is cowardly deleting comments, took down her twitter page and refusing to speak up about it like a grown woman tells u everything u need to know about her mindset and lack high level thought. I wonder if they wanted to just focus on Gen Q why did they let Sepideh leave? What happened for her to leave suddenly? Dani and Gigi had so much chemistry together. They made so much effort and probably helped get season 3 commissioned by going to a bar together and creating so much hype and attention around their characters. Why if they wanted to reduce the roles of Bette, Tina, Shane and Alice would they break up their strongest GenQ couple and one of their most popular characters just leave suddenly at the beginning of the new season?
The same reason that jennifer Beales quit, these actresses already told the writers they were not happy and they weren't listened to, I heard it was getting beachy behind the scenes so they left.
I'm still really upset that they just shrug off Jenny's character. Hardly ever mentioned as if she was just some side character in the OG when she was one of the main and most brilliant! She was my favorite, be it Jenny or Mia. Ughhh

The original L Word wasn’t the best show out there, but it did show lesbian love and friendships (the good, the bad and the red flags). I tried to watch a couple of episodes of Gen Q and it was without humour, overly woke/inclusive and didn’t show the friendships, which stayed true through all of the relationship drama. I felt like the original cast would be fun people to hang out with (or just appreciate, like Sarah Shahi. Why refuse to bring Carmen back)? The new cast was too numerous and dull.

@brittanymiitchell8491 Well I think it was ridiculous and the show is just too woke, that is saying something. Sarah already played the role, so what was the harm in returning to the role. Olympia Dukakis was able to return for the revival of Tales of the City, even though she was never trans. They just hired an actual trans actress to play the younger version. I think Gen Q just takes it all a bit far with the checking of boxes.

Expect for the tiny bit we get of Gigi and Sophie with their families. That being said I wish they would have spent just as much time writing the queer women of color interesting storylines as they did making sure everything was politically correct.
During the original L word, we all knew that we couldn’t talk badly about it, because it was the only show that was out there for us… so I understand why some people are in denial. I cringe at all the good reviews regarding Gen Q. It wasn’t good, and I’m sad that the legacy was ruined. Kate and Leisha have said on their podcast numerous times that what made the original L Word so special was the friendships between all the women. Gen Q doesn’t have this at all. This is what happens when a brilliant writer like Ilene Chaiken passes the torch to a mediocre writer like Marja. It’s so sad. Gen Q is a dumpster fire and I feel so bad for the OG actors that fought for this reboot.

It's such a disappointment that Gen Q has been so anti the OG show and characters. They had such an opportunity to capitalize on a huge following, and unfortunately their insecurities regarding the main show have made everything a mess. I think Kate and Leisha are as fed up as we are! I think Jennifer losing her producer credit was the last straw for them. To think that they took a show that is revered around the world and destroyed its legacy is the biggest of insults to Ilene, Jennifer, Kate Leisha, and all those who made it what it was.

Ever since the showrunner said they won't bring Sarah Shahi back since she isn't 100% Mexican I haven't given a shit about this show. Majority of the fans want Shane and Carmen to have either some actual closure or to continue that romance.
If you had told me before this season started that the highlight of s3 would be 7 mins of a Pants podcast I wouldn’t have believed it. They had me in tears! 😂 IMO I think they finally spoke out after seeing the fan reactions and maybe to see if they can rally enough social/fan support to force changes in the show. The people that run this show are flat out delusional - squeezing out the OGs and Gigi is INSANE. Without them, the show is an unwatchable, incoherent, boring and poorly written dumpster fire. I’d say most fans would gladly jump ship and get on that magic bus with Leisha and Kate!

The downfall of Gen Q is squarely on Marja and the writer's. You can hear the frustration and disappointment in Kate's voice and Leisha's voice. Marja had Gen Q's version of Bette and Tina in Gigi and Dani. The interaction between the OG's and the new cast has been mumbo-jumbo and has made no sense. I'm not being a smart ass but L Word fans could write better storylines, and the interaction between the OG's and the new cast would make sense. I said on Twitter today that I get more information and promotion by watching this channel. Thank you, Ash, for all you do for us, and I think everyone would agree that we appreciate you very much.

When you think of reboots of shows from 15+ years ago, you wonder if characters would even be interested or (not to be morbid) alive or in good health after a long time to reprise their past roles. The L Word is sooooo lucky to have the privilege of having not only a good amount of past characters HIGHLY INTERESTED (thinking of a recent Sara interview) but available and present to reprise their roles. Why not use the opportunity to either close chapters or give fans incredible moments? It's ridiculous.

I would have hope that promotions are coming next week but I recently listened to a podcast that I believe is sponsored and they downplayed Bette & Tina in their reviews for the first two episodes so badly that I was in shock. I now believe that there is an idea to "cut the top" lead actresses from this show and Bette & Tina are not going to get the celebration I think that they deserve. For me, they are the First and BEST WLW couple in a series representing a 20 year relationship. They are also actresses that became advocates and helped push the equality we enjoy today. I appreciate them and would like more promotions as well.

We really are missing the friendship aspects of the show. I miss the long scenes with important conversations that happened in the OG seasons. The reboot is mostly just relationship drama and I feel like having the main ensemble places be a bar and Alices set makes it difficult to accommodate these conversations.
Also I still am not over how they dismissed Jenny’s death as a suicide and nobody has mentioned it since makes me so sad. Jenny was a huge part of their lives - especially Shane’s and to have nobody speak her name makes me so sad. I know a lot of people hated Jenny but I think to never speak of her while Shane literally runs a bar called Dana’s is a bit of a miss for me. Also it’d be great to have heard more about Kits passing too, she too deserved more than to have met the fate of a drug overdose!!! If anything, Dana’s should have been named Kits especially since it’s become the new planet.
This is a great point, and Kate has alluded to this a few times on the pod. Neither one of Leisha or Kate has talked about a lot of the audience hating Jenny, but they have talked about how much they love Mia and love what she did with that character, and both have said they would've liked to have her back. The fact that they just dismissed Jenny's death like it was nothing - when literally ALL of season 6 was centered around it was really messed up in my judgment. (Now, season 6 of the OG was terrible, but, I digress :) ) But like you said, regardless of what your feelings are on Jenny, she was vital to the show, and there wouldn't have been a show without her (something Kate and Leisha have also said), so just casting her aside they way they have is bothersome. Same thing with Kit. She wasn't a main character, but she was definitely an important one, and just throwing her out and giving basically no explanation or closure was super messed up.
Sepi new interview promoting blackbird show was not a dig but when she talked about "patient story telling" I remembered how marja tells short term stories that don't last more than 2-3 episodes lmfao

The writers wanted authenticity, but as a mixed-race woman from an interracial household and marriage, should I be offended that a mono-racial acress was cast as Angie? I mean she is not half white. Double standard in a sense. And before people say, "but mixed people can claim their POC sides only"...that is fine. But many of us claim all of ourselves and if you were not raised like we were, it is NOT authentic. Just saying.

A big takeaway from the Pants podcast is Kate and Leisha basically saying that we the OG fans and both of them are on the same page with our views about the direction of this show. If we are feeling this level of frustration, can only imagine what Jen, Kate, Leisha, Illene are feeling. All because of nepotism and connections we may not have a proper send off for Bette and Tina. Thanks for the update as am yet to hear the current Pants podcast as yet. I feel sorry for Kate and Leisha, by the sound bite, I am concerned that even though both directed and episode that the edits of them did not show the work they did justice. A sad state of affairs as we can see the errors but those in power appear dismissive of the needs and wants of the OG's as well as the core audience of the show.
Never thought I’d hear KM and LH reveal that info. They’re very careful, professional and both want continue to employment in the entertainment industry. I’m hopeful this might mean change is underway, or at least pressing in that direction.

I loved that Kate and Leisha became vocal about their feelings of the once iconic show. You could feel, that they are very unhappy with the current situation. I mean it is also their legacy and the L-word OG still means something and let's not forget how hard JB fought to reboot the show. The audience of the L-word is special and extremley loyal and ignoring it so consequently is pretty low. As Ash has mentioned many times, I don't get that the show is not beimg promoted at all. Also, there has been not even a single statement regrading JB and SM leaving the show. I mean Jennifer is an icon in her own category and she will remain there, no matter what. Having a breakout star like Sepideh, who could have easily become the new face of GenQ, carried GenQ into a very good direction and was invested - to also loose her the way they di - pretty unforgiveable. I mean the show could have capitalized on SM... The stories are poor, incoherent, annoying and badly executed. There is no group dynamic and fun, like with the OG series. People and story lines are being pushed and given screentime who are not interesting at all... It is a big f*cking mess and sad what has become of the show. I totally agree with Ash on every level. I fast forward the show and enjoy your recaps 💗
Kehlani as Ivy really highlighted the lack of chemistry between Shane & Tess. Tess is annoying & needs to go. I would happily have Carmen, Quiara or even Jenny back !
I love that they always keep the show (and showrunner) honest. They've been doing it at least since the 2nd season, and then had Marja on an ep after the reason was done. And the criticisms then pale compare to the carnage of this season. Rant away, Ash. You are all of us!

Obviously by saying "Let's ride around and pick up the ORIGINAL cast members" means they KNOW the newbies sucked. Except Gigi and Dani.
In my opinion, the strategy was to do the season three low cost. Showing Bette and Tina in two first episodes probably goes with thinking that's enough to convince people to watch the entire season. The almost last scene with them was open on purpose-to make fans think they might be back in a few next episodes. They did the same with Gigi. The car scene with Nat wasn't finished and left many questions, many weird holes in her story. So they cut many costs by removing people from the screen and manipulating fans that theirs favourite characters might be back sooner or later since their stories were left so open. They did almost nothing for almost a whole season apart for making bad writing and decisions, so they ended up having extra money in their hands-they used them to invite guest stars, not well-known actors. It was cheap, so why not. Nothing more interesting to say or show, so maybe new faces sounded like a good idea. They also brought back a few OGs for a few minutes of screen time, possibly to fill some holes after Bette and Tina. And they also decided to have some great musicians on the show to keep fans still glued to the showtime subscription, just in case some of them might turn around and cancel it before. And they left the best on the end because clearly they wanted to give fans what they needed for so long-the Bette and Tina wedding. As everything, this was a wrap up to make fans think they care about us and our opinions, when they don't. And to make us forget about everything they did not necessarily like we wanted and to help them end the reboot on good terms or fight with them for season four.

Is there some kind of obligation payment or something if Bette/Gigi’s names get mentioned? It’s beyond bizarre that neithers names have been mentioned and Gigi has only been mentioned as ‘my ex’. The thing is because Bette is coming back they should have had a couple of mentions of what they were up to to keep the casual Bette/TiBette fans watching just for the hope of getting a quick little nugget

I'm so glad I found this channel, I feel like my thoughts and feelings on this series have been validated - I thought I was going mad. Why are all the characters so disconnected?! I loved the L Word for the strong friendships as much as I did the relationships. I can't even tell anymore how they know each other, or if some of the characters even DO know some of the others. Angie is literally out on her own these days, she has no connection to anyone else. And when they do bring back a character who was part of a friendship group, they don't even mention the dead friend they had in common - why is Jenny a forbidden word? So many other things in the reboot I didn't ever understand - I don't believe Tina wouldn't go to Kit's funeral and what happened to the kid Bette and Tina were meant to be adopting at the end of the OG? Even the geography of where they live in relation to each other feels disconnected. There is a lack of substance.

For many of us OG, and Gigi and Dani fans, what's happening to, or has happened to GenQ is personal. I understand when JB made the statement they want to tell new stories, ok, understood. But moving in the direction that GenQ is moving, which is what...I'm confused...mind boggling, as well as very disrespectful to the OGs and Sepideh fans. What really bothers me is that the "powers that be" don't care about how the fans feel. They have proven so far, they could careless! I only hope that episodes 9&10 are not sabotaged. When I think of the original l word, my favorite bits were the simple times morning coffee with whole group at the planet, Shane and bette on the porch steps at end of the day,, the party scene with Shane Alice Tina dancing laughing singing... There's commiserating friends, there's joy, there's support for each other and that's what's missing for me in gen q. And who the f doesn't want Shane and carman reunion. And some Helena and Alice absurdities and laughs would be soo nice.

They said in an early episode of Pants that Gen Q is basically a mea culpa for the OG L Word. Why does there *need* to be a mea culpa? If anyone thinks it was that "bad," make a new damn show. Don't try to stuff an iconic early-2000s lesbian soap opera into a 2020s box. It clearly doesn't work.
Kate and Leisha need to add Jennifer and Laurel to the bus!!!! For them to call it out as they did? I feel they had different expectations for the show than what the show runner did. I do believe they also tried to alienate the OG fans and silence the OG’s to focus on the GQ but… when that isn’t succeeding? Save it with the OG’s. I only watched because of Laurel’s return. That glimmer of hope for Bette and Tina. Without Laurel? I never would have watched Gen Q. Reboots are never as good as the original. But this? They had that potential. HAD. As I said before, and I know u have said u don’t agree…but I think Kate and Leisha will spill some more tea once the season ends as they have already said they would. They are both very aware of the fans disgust for Season 3 and it’s nice to know they are in alignment w the fans. After all this is more than a ‘job’ to them this show has made them lesbian icons and legends. It is their brand after all. I know I personally sent them an email telling how I felt and asked them to pitch a show bc anything would be better than this mess. Glad I stopped watching the show months ago. I’m almost certain Bette/ Tina will not be in much of the last 2 episodes. It would only make sense given the other stupid decisions that have been made on the show.
I know U don’t agree, but the trash that is Season 3 is totally Marja’s fault. Although she works for Showtime and everything must be approved by them, SHE is responsible for creative control. If the show had a good showrunner the show would look TOTALLY different and Sepi would be front and center, characters would have proper closer like ever other reboot/ continuation of an original beloved series, and the audience would NOT be bombarded w boring/ tone deaf storylines 99% of fans don’t care about. They made so much effort and probably helped get season 3 commissioned by going to a bar together and creating so much hype and attention around their characters. Why if they wanted to reduce the roles of Bette, Tina, Shane and Alice would they break up their strongest GenQ couple and one of their most popular characters just leave suddenly at the beginning of the new season?
The same reason that jennifer Beales quit, these actresses already told the writers they were not happy and they weren't listened to, I heard it was getting beachy behind the scenes so they left.

The original L Word wasn’t the best show out there, but it did show lesbian love and friendships (the good, the bad and the red flags). I tried to watch a couple of episodes of Gen Q and it was without humour, overly woke/inclusive and didn’t show the friendships, which stayed true through all of the relationship drama. I felt like the original cast would be fun people to hang out with (or just appreciate, like Sarah Shahi. Why refuse to bring Carmen back)? The new cast was too numerous and dull.
I swear this is the first we’ve heard from anyone to do with the show addressing that Sepideh is gone?!

Olympia Dukakis was able to return for the revival of Tales of the City, even though she was never trans. They just hired an actual trans actress to play the younger version. I think Gen Q just takes it all a bit far with the checking of boxes.

Expect for the tiny bit we get of Gigi and Sophie with their families. That being said I wish they would have spent just as much time writing the queer women of color interesting storylines as they did making sure everything was politically correct.

During the original L word, we all knew that we couldn’t talk badly about it, because it was the only show that was out there for us… so I understand why some people are in denial. I cringe at all the good reviews regarding Gen Q. It wasn’t good, and I’m sad that the legacy was ruined. I hold hope that it can be picked up again with all the OG cast and a showrunner and writers whose MAIN FOCUS is character development and great storytelling. This CAN NOT be how this show ends😭

Showtime is accomplice to MLR in sabotaging this season, because they wanted to break the contracts of JB and SM
Secondly, Showtime gave MLR "carte blanche"she had her hands free , and MLR did. what she wanted, without Showtime being able to intervene, no doubt taking into account the signed contract .
I really don't see what kind of audience they want to attract with such mediocre stories, scripts..
