About the music:
This musical piece serves the comedy-ballet, a work mixing
theatre, music and dance, for the entertainment of the king and the court. It's here
between the collaboration of Molière and Lully which creates this new genre where the music is
integrated into the theatrical plot: Le Bourgeois gentilhomme (The Bourgeois Gentleman) is a perfect example. Created at the request of Louis XIV "The Sun King" (1638-1715) to ridicule the turkish emissary who
made a very bad impression when he was received as a monarch.
About the composer:
Jean-Baptiste Lully (1632-1687), born Giovanni Battista Lulli, was an Italian-born French composer, instrumentalist, and dancer who is considered a master of the French Baroque music style. Best known for his operas, he spent most of his life working in the court of Louis XIV of France and became a French subject in 1661.
Personal notes:
Yes, it seems that this piece of music was made as a "parody" of grandiloquent melodies for ceremonies, but although it was considered that way during its creation, I personally think that this music has the essence of France during the 17th century, especially the court of Louis XIV.
No offense to the late king, but aside from a few laughs at the context of this melody (The Bourgeois Gentleman), he must have admitted at some point how epic and majestic this music is.

All of Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme's pieces are wonderful, but Lully really outdid himself on this one. Wonderful edition of the good old Ancient Régime, times of sweetness. Vive le Roi!
This music is symbol of Grand Century of Roi de Soleil. I feel spirit of Louis14 from Lully's music.

March for the Turkish Ceremony (Marche pour la cérémonie des Turcs) was written by Jean-Baptiste Lully in 1670. It is taken from the ninth comedy-ballet entitled « Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme » by the playwright Molière. Comedy ballet is a combination of spoken comedies, singing, and dancing. This form was desired by King Louis XIV in order to sew together theater, music and dance without breaking the thread of the piece. Context: The King received the emissary of the Grand Turk represented by Suleiman Aga in 1669 but the diplomat's clumsiness and casualness turned into a caricature. It was then that the famous « Turkish ridiculous ballet » was born. The comedy-ballet is a veritable reservoir of the processes that Jean-Baptiste Lully will find in lyric tragedy. She is entirely instrumental and is intended to be danced. So it’s ballet music. To heighten the irony of this scene, the composer uses all the instruments at his disposal and also uses percussion with oriental sounds. The march is structured around two repeated musical phrases. From the first notes, everything is done to create a solemn character: the key of G minor, the dotted rhythms similar to opera overtures and supposed to represent the march of the Sun King. This colored piece also includes a small tessitura of which the repetitions offer a journey of exploration of the timbre in the composition. *Lucien*

неплохой личный особняк построил для себя король Луи , фактически это была большая красивая казарма для знатных дворян Франции.
А чтобы пленники не скучали, король лично танцевал перед ними и проводил постоянные балы и охоту.
Содержание Версаля обходилось в половину государственного бюджета Франции .
В конце концов французам надоело содержать своих дорогих монархов и последнему королю Франции они отрубили голову.
А сам дворец в наши дни напоминает лишь имена его выдающихся мастеров, строивших Версаль - архитекторов Франсуа Лево, Жуля Ардуэн-Мансара , Андре Ленотра !
И конечно,особая благодарность от современных потомков - обычным французским рабочим строителям ,что построили этот великолепный дворец 350 лет назад! ⚜️☝️😎

Пятнадцатый Бурбон фактически профукал наследство своего выдающегося деда , играя в ролевые игры ,,Парка оленей". Фактически он и был настоящим оленем своего парка 😀..
А добила окончательно династию Бурбонов глупая немка Мария- Антуанетта ,за что лишила башки и себя и своего добряка мужа...

Jean-Baptiste Lully or Giovanni Battista Lulli is a super underrated composer.. I recommend you listen to more of his music, especially "Te Deum"
