      Gabriel, question for you please: Was part of the movie filmed there?
      (Trivia tidbit: The daughter of my parents' best friends married the film's editor, Richard Chew. My sister and I got free star wars tee shirts from him. It would have been such fun to have met George Lucas.)

      And thank you always for your replies to me.
      Too many folks are so rude here on YT. You, Jean Voronkova and Robe Trotting are some of the few people who care to reply to me, and that is nice of you. Maddie Gold and Tangerine Travels are other good people. But, by and large nice people out here seem to be few and far between.

      Wondering if you can help me. Looking to take a round trip taxi from Kajuraho to Kalinjar fort. Can you tell me approximately what you paid and if possible the name of the taxi company. Thanks in advance!

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Dr.Mzungu I don't remember exactly, maybe around $50 for a taxi from Khajuraho to Chitrakoot one way. I think I mentioned the price in this video: th-cam.com/video/R7KD4p_j2iQ/w-d-xo.html It wasn't with a taxi company but with a local person who I found through my hotel. So you can just ask at your hotel and they should be able to arrange something.

    Nice places. The word Marhaba is not actually Turkish but it is derived from the Assyrian phrase Mar Khobba (Mar Hobba) meaning The Lord is Love (God is Love) The Assyrians are the people of Assyria today known as Iraq under arab rule. The Turks learned the word while the Ottomans occupied Lebanon, Syria, Iraq for over 400 years.

    Although the cave homes look abandoned, many still have owners .....families that used them up to a few decades ago and now have houses in the town but still consider these caves theirs and may use them still for storage etc. There are at least several that are still lived in and it would not surprise me to see the younger generation return to them as well as the cost of living goes up in Turkey.

Places that this jump starts my imagination and it goes wild with who lived there, what were so many of the cubies for, and several separate areas within used for? Sleeping? Cooking? what was daily life like? Was there happiness and delight or just a very difficult life? Where did they get water, and food? Anyway.....thanks Gabe :)

    Gabe, excellent choice for a very exciting video. Rates at the top and I will have to go back and watch your previous ones from this area if there are any.
    I can see you living peacefully in one of those caves with solar panels and satellite internet!
    Very entertaining. One question tho , the government allows people to simply move into those caves and take over? This area should be off limits to vagrants and designated as a national park and protected. It is a shame if they let them get destroyed and filled with trash and cars etc.It is a national treasure for Turkey. I was appalled at the state of these dwellings and surroundings.Such a beautiful area.
