Only certain things with certain powers can Kirby consume. What goes in he chooses, if it's too big or he legit can't eat it then he won't. However if somebody were to cut Kirby in half everybody everywhere would be dead.
Yea basically kirby has a switch so his mouth changes from ‘beeg mouth’ mode to ‘black hole’ mode. Hypernova amplifies BOTH of these modes, allowing Kirby to inhale enormous amounts of matter without the need to use his ‘black hole’ mode

The giant rock he fought in Right Back at Ya's name was Blocky (or at least that what I think that's what he was called in the dub). As for why Kirby couldn't inhale him, I think it was mostly because the anime was taking a lot of inspiration and ideas from the first three games in the franchise, way before Kirby really got a handle on his powers yet. Hell, in the episode involving said rock monster, Kirby actually couldn't inhale him and needed a training session just to get said monster to split into four pieces before he could use the stone ability to have the monsters drown at the bottom of the ocean.

Only certain things with certain powers can Kirby consume. What goes in he chooses, if it's too big or he legit can't eat it then he won't. However if somebody were to cut Kirby in half everybody everywhere would be dead.
Yea basically kirby has a switch so his mouth changes from ‘beeg mouth’ mode to ‘black hole’ mode. Hypernova amplifies BOTH of these modes, allowing Kirby to inhale enormous amounts of matter without the need to use his ‘black hole’ mode

The giant rock he fought in Right Back at Ya's name was Blocky (or at least that what I think that's what he was called in the dub). As for why Kirby couldn't inhale him, I think it was mostly because the anime was taking a lot of inspiration and ideas from the first three games in the franchise, way before Kirby really got a handle on his powers yet. Hell, in the episode involving said rock monster, Kirby actually couldn't inhale him and needed a training session just to get said monster to split into four pieces before he could use the stone ability to have the monsters drown at the bottom of the ocean.
