      It should be noted that a lot of Dune fans dislike Brian Herbert’s Dune Prequel novels as it contradicts the themes his father wrote. There’s history and animosity to Brian’s stories. Many even accuse Brian Herbert of writing the prequels for money. It is either that or Brian is trying to bring closure to some of his father’s remaining story materials but just couldn’t execute them right. Overall, we shouldn’t just make quick judgments and call Brian greedy, but just admit that he is not his father. Frank Herbert is Frank Herbert. Brian Herbert is Brian Herbert.

      @@JungleJetAviation06i actually enjoyed the expanded universe stuff. My thing is people say the butlarian jihad was a philosophical war, yet there had to be some kind of battle if they had to advance their technology to adapt. Plus to me, it reminds me of the cylons from the syfy battlestar Galactica series. Plus the legends books I thought lined up with the original books. And let’s not forget what Mohiam said: “once men turned their thinking to machines in the hopes that this would set them free. That only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.” How I took that in reference to the BH KJA books was that the original titans used their thinking machines to begin their takeover only to be enslaved by Omnius. I know there’s more details, but I need to reread the books

      @@tgiacin435The only books I feel of BH that contradict Frank directly was the Caladan trilogy which is his and KJA’s recent Dune trilogy. The ending contradicted Frank’s reasoning for taking Arrakis away from the Harkonnens and giving it to the Atreides.

    I've been thinking all morning about the first episode. It dawned on me that the glowing blue eyes in the vision belong to none other than Leto II, the God Emperor! He's using his prescience to travel back through his genetic heritage to scare off key Bene Gesserit from their breeding program and their ultimate search for the Kwisatz Haderach. Why? Because it created his father. And the destructive chaos his father unleashed led to Leto choosing a terrible metamorphosis, to save humanity. Leto II's Golden Path hobbled the Bene G's for thousands of years as he didn't trust them and had no use for them. After his death, the Scattering happened. That resulted in the Honoured Matres returning to destroy the Bene G homeworld. Or, maybe it's that those who had the vision saw a prescient glimpse of a future which would contain the greatest threat to them if they pursued their ambitions.

    • @IseoluwaCobham
      @IseoluwaCobham 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      You have an undeniably outstanding theory here.
      But I make bold to counter , that the eyes seen staring back at the mother superior were the eyes of a machine. The very one Leto ii warned about which were at the end of the dune novel titled chapter house.
      That's what was to prepare mankind for to be ready for the return of a more superior threat a machine-god.
      Yeah leto ii never trust the bene gessirt that's why he took over their breading program personally.

      @@IseoluwaCobham You are probably right BUT the vision involved a sandworm - and the blue Dune eyes. To me there was no hint of machinery. Just sand, a worm and blue eyes and a powerful voice. Ergo, Leto.

  • @Rauruatreides
    @Rauruatreides 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

    Tiran-Arafel is probably not to do anything with Paul. Rather, it is to do with his son, the God Emperor, who describes himself that his mission is to prevent Arafel.

    • @joal1743
      @joal1743 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I believe arafel is in reference to a god like being capable of extinguishing humanity, which is why Leto rules like a tyrant to force the big scattering and make it impossible for humanity to become fully extinct. Just like when the telxiu (sorry forgot how to spell) said they can create anything but they can’t create arafel.

    Well, I love the world of Dune and am curious where the show is going, so I'll keep watching, but this episode sure wouldn't have hooked me if I wasn't already a fan. It was super exposition heavy and dropped us in the middle of a ton of complicated plotting with no foothold with which to get traction and connect to the story. I was mostly just lost through it and didn't feel much reason to care about anything one way or another. Plus, for taking place 10,000 years before the films, it feels like it could've happened only decades before for how much it looks like them. So while it wasn't a terrible start, it was very underwhelming.

    I enjoyed the episode especially the ending which makes for a very intriguing early part to the story being told. The amount of times they went back to the masters discussing things and reviewing the overall situation became a bit monotonous, perhaps a result of the slight redirection the show took during production. I am concerned we may see too much of this type of thing plugged in to lengthen episodes and carry narrative. In the end I think most of the Dune fan base will enjoy this show. They’re definitely giving us quite a bit of technology and graphic work. Looks pretty cool

    I had no idea this series was coming out, so, I had no expectations. Suddently esterday I saw 'reviews' of it on TH-cam and thought "this I have to see". HBO Max isn't available in Canada but I wondered if it could be on Amazon Prime and, there it was! I thought it was brilliant. The only let-down was seeing how Travis Fimmel now looks like Barney Rubble from the Flintstones and why is he using that weird semi-Germanic accent he developed in Vikings? But I'm hooked by this series.

      @askani21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@QuelSalius Yeah, that's a stressful thought loll. I just hope they stick to the non-problematic parts of Brian's lore. Vorian Atreides is a fun character in the books, but his entire existence contradicts the original novels, in which God literally details the origins of his family up to the House of Atreus of Ancien Greece on Earth. And when he remembers the life of his tyrant ancestor Agamemnon, it's at the battle of Troy, in Ancient Greece. The real historical figure. Not a cymek.
      And Raquella is not an Atreides in the original novels either. That's why they really can't go there, it would be a middle finger to Frank Herbert.
      I just hope they navigate between the two respectfully, picking and choosing the parts that won't contradict one another.

    I don't understand how this marriage would stabilize House Corrino, when Ynez's children would be literally Richese. In feudal systems, the father's name and bloodline matters.
    Also, the Emperor didn't have any legal male heir even this early? Then the Corrino bloodline literally doesn't exist.

  • @JungleJetAviation06
    @JungleJetAviation06 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

    That had to be the God Emperor with the blue eyes and deep voice lol.

    • @askani21
      @askani21 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That's also what I thought. But he can't be seen by prescients. Even Paul could not foresee God's birth. I guess he could have been staring at Raquella so she'd feel his gaze. I'd be fine with that.
      But I also think it might literally be Arafel. She does mention Arafel during her vision. Arafel was the name God gave to the Ixian Hunter Seeker machines they were destined to create, the AI swarm that would hunt down humanity to extinction using artificial prescience. It's the future Paul chose to save Chani. It's why God had to choose the Golden path, to save humanity from his father's vision.
      It could also be Omnis. I hope not lolll

    I was just about to ask how soon after the establishment of the sisterhood, did they begin taking the water of life and when did they start seeding planets with prophecies? Also, my theory is that Tiran-Arafel is connected directly to the worms of arrakis. In the books, the worms are worshipped as gods. The fact that Alia's plans failed so pointedly seem to suggest that Tiran-Arafel and the Kwisatz-Heidarach are not related and instead Tiran-Arafel leads the sisterhood to discover the Kwisatz-Heidarach prophecy.

    Honestly the first episode was okay visually but i had some reservstions.
    For starters the club scene wasnt necessary, i know it was to illustrate the carefree lifestyle of the inez and her brother but it just was particularly flat and dull.
    Secondly the sparring scene with the sword master it was terrible, it was so bad i was like what was the plan here , if the plan was to depict the slow-blade technique which would breach the shields. Well they failed. Thr choreography was dull and sluggish.
    Also the sparring session at wallach ix where the recruits were sparring boy it was terrible. The pacing, foot work and hit on contact just seem like whoever choreographied this wasnt certain of what the weriding-way ought to look like on screen. And quite frankly it shows
    The first scene with thr younger valya th performance there was mechanical, it looked force. It lack believability.
    Finally the dialogues could have been better.
    For a sci-fi HBO series im struggling to understand why we even have s dune series, because its not necessary. If were meant to get a series i believe it makes much sense to have one on the mentat's
    Why because they are msjor faction's in the movie or media who havent gotten much recognition and they're as much revelant to the lans rad as the other schools like the bene gessirt
