Reading the whole passage, it did warn kings to not be drunk, as well as the admonition against " not overindulging in wine" for leaders in the church. 1 Timothy 3 Jesus was accused of being a "heavy drinker". Matthew 11 18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon!’ 19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a heavy drinker, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ It's not as black and white of an issue that many congregations make it out to be. To me it seems to fall into instructions in Romans 14
The Scriptures do not state believers should not drink. It says to not get drunk. I agree with Hank on his answers. I had attended a denomination that frowned upon alcohol. If you drank alcohol you were sinning. Definitely not scriptural! I stopped attending this denomination due to other beliefs that did not line up with Scripture.

Don't cause someone to stumble by drinking in front of them. Drunkeness shall not enter the kingdom of heaven.
