The idea of evolution not feeling right should have no bearing on it's trueness.. according to the video anyway.
The irony of Christians talking about the truth lol.
Good day, may one day everyone know the truth is hidden, and anyone who's claimed to know it was after something unrelated.
Evolution may not be 100% complete and true, but it's at least trying to be self-consistent.

    • @akunog3665

@@grimfada "But how does a mind tuned to maximize survival require attaining anything true from our surroundings. For example, escaping a tiger can result from a plethora of false beliefs about tigers and their dangerousness to humans."
First, tuned to maximize survival is only a trend in evolution. It is essentially a random process, but the one's who produce more offspring and live long enough to produce more offspring are more likely to survive and be present in the world. I'll concede that the truth is not exclusively required to survive a tiger attack, but I'll also argue that the truth is more effective in more situations. If we want to survive things that haven't even happened yet we need to seek the truth about it. We are no longer struggling to survive the tiger of today, but the collapse of the future as well.
"If the theory of evolution is produced by a brain not tuned to attain truth but to survive, the theory and any thought whatsoever has nothing to do with truth. Survival is all that matters."
Here again, I would argue that the truth is very beneficial to survival, especially if we have gotten to a place where we don't have to worry much about tigers today, but our threats are abstract visions of the future that may or may not come to pass, the truth is a key part of this survival strategy.
"Self-consistency is not, in the other hand, a measuring stick that does good for you. A murderer intent on killing and willing to take action can self-consistent in their worldview, but still wrong in doing so."
yes, I agree with this 100%, which is why I said "Evolution may not be 100% complete and true, but it's at least trying to be self-consistent."
I didn't say that self-consistency was proof that evolution is true, it's just that being self-inconsistent would disprove it, like the king james bible is disproven as the inerrant word of god by contradicting itself. I don't think evolution is the complete answer, I don't think the complete answer is even necessarily knowable, which is my main point. If someone is telling you know the complete answer, but won't show their work.. I would be very skeptical, but that's just me. I only have a tenuous control over my own mind, I do not seek to try to control other's minds.
"Life just does not come from non-life, an empirical fact."
I don't think this is a proven, empirical fact. It's from a place of bias that you believe this to be true, even though you could not know. I don't know the state of research in this field, but regardless, there is no way to exhaust every possibility to determine it is impossible, especially in the timescale of a lab scientist. Just because life has not sprung from a vat of amino acids over the last few decades in a lab, does not mean it's impossible within the context of the entire cosmos.
Again, I'm not saying life came from non-life as an empirical fact.. I'm saying we don't know.. so, quit knocking on my door and telling me I'll see grandma again if I join this group and give my heart to Jesus, it's kind of sick, really this is how I feel. I wish everyone a good and fruitful life, but I don't know the answers, and I don't claim to.

The number of times I've had to explain what true love is to even pastors and "professional" evangelists just frustrates me. Thank you for covering that. I recently got into a heated argument with a popular Christian band on social media over what love is because of their very public affirmation of homosexuality. To them, letting someone know "they are loved" is more important than actually rebuking them for choosing their homosexual lifestyle over faithfully adhering to God's will, and justified their position by claiming that pretty much every Christian man has a porn addiction so no one can rebuke anyone else. It was so unbiblical.

That last bit is truly a pathetic attack they pulled out their backside. It diverts away from the topic and is irrelevant.
Yes, God loved the world so much he gave his one and only son to die on a cross that whoever believes in him shall not die but receive ever-lasting life, but he also says if you love him you will keep his commands, and that no one is worthy of him unless they forsake everything they hold dear in this world to follow after him and pick up their own cross.
The one who rebukes you openly is your true friend and is better than your enemy who will soothe you with a kiss.
Why? Because a true friend will tell you the truth for your benefit even if it hurts because they truly love you and don’t want you to be deceived. Your enemy wants you to stay in the comfort of your deception that leads to destruction. That don’t care what happens to you. That would love to see you be destroyed or just as miserable as they are!
Lord Jesus we follow after you. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. ✝️♥️🙏🏻

The information that you are sharing in this video is immensely valuable as I’m sure you know. Grandma‘s and grandpa‘s, moms and dads as well as teachers need to jump on this ASAP. We seem to be losing Christian ground very quickly. I plan to order some information and pass it along to my son so his four-year-old daughter will have a shot at a reasonable life. Even though we taught this to our daughter practically from birth, had her in a good church every week, homeschooled, put her in youth programs, and read the Bible and prayed in our home, she still rejected the faith as soon as she was on her own. The pull of these ideas is very strong, especially to people who want to be subject only to their own authority.

The only one ever who is free from sin is Jesus and we're not Jesus and we can't ever be. We are imperfect and all we can do is try to do better and better ourselves and ask for forgivness when we fail and we will be forgiven ❤️

The bible says to acknowledge God in all our ways. Jesus had given us victory over sin because of his death and Resurrection! And now we have the Holy Spirit living in us! So when you feel tempted to tell a lie, God says acknowledge Him before you go to speak. Say I am tempted to tell this lie (for whatever reason) but my Heavenly Father hates lying so I will acknowledge Him in this decision and choose not to lie. Even if it is difficult, we have victory over sin if we choose to walk in the Spirit. It doesn't mean we will never sin (we are human) but we strive to walk in the Spirit.

One time my class had an open discussion about morality in every day life and we started by discussing the definition of "morals". A dictionary was never consulted, it was about what we felt it meant. Even though some people gave conflicting definitions we were collectively told by our teacher we were all correct. The conversation from then on was basically us talking past each other for an hour while the teacher pretended there was deep introspection happening.
This is why it's hard to have conversations with non-believers about basic things like love and justice. How can we have a productive conversation about anything if we don't all agree on what it means?

If I'm honest with myself, money, popularity and pleasure never fulfill me and actually have a tendency to hurt me. So if I'm honest with myself, if I TRULY follow my heart... My youngest granddaughters were arguing about if homosexuality was wrong or not and I overheard one say “you can’t help who you love! “The other one said “the Bible says it’s wrong” then the first one said “what if you don’t know the Bible and your heart loves a girl?”
I was floored! My granddaughters go to a Christian school!!
I grew up just knowing there’s right and wrong-no matter what you feel. I didn’t know that this culture was pushing this false idea, everyone has their own truth and their own reality. I thought it was just a liberal idea. I’m definitely going to have a talk with these kids and try to explain Gods truth vs man’s truth and feelings, to them. I’m going to check out the website too!

This is an excellent video! I talk to my kids all the time about these things. It is so very important. I would like to say, $175 for only a years access to this curriculum is very expensive. I buy curriculum every year for my kids and nothing is this expensive and I am able to keep the curriculum for years to come. Answers in Genesis had worldview curriculum for much better price, maybe not the detail but it won’t break the bank.

"13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)"

God's law is written on the heart.

We are not under law but under grace.
We have become dead to the law but alive unto Christ Jesus.
The law was not made for the righteous but for the unrighteous.
The Sabbath has its roots in the garden. “God blessed it and sanctified it” - but he does not command it until later as a part of the relationship and covenant that he has with the children of Israel through the Mosaic Law.
I believe this institution is important to God because it is an earthly representation of the relationship that the church will have with Jesus; he is our sabbath; he is our rest from the works of the law.
The verses in Exodus that command the Sabbath are to the Israelites and not to the whole world. God did not deliver the gentiles from Egypt. He did not bring them to Mount Sinai. He did not establish a covenant with the gentiles.
It does include foreigners living in their cities. This is to prevent the Israelites from getting their work done on an extra day through foreigners and slaves - but more importantly that these foreigners and slaves should also rest. To reiterate: this is not a command for the whole world. It is included with the mosaic covenant with the children of Israel.
There exists only two commandments for the bride of Christ. But first, let’s make a distinction between the church and the children of Israel.
The Abrahamic promise is different from the mosaic covenant that was made with the children of Israel. Abraham’s promise is that of a son - specifically Isaac, and that all the people’s of the world would be blessed through Abraham - This is the Messianic promise.
The prophet Jeremiah records that the covenants will change:
      Jeremiah 31: 31-33
      31
“The days are coming,” declares the Lord,
“when I will make a new covenant
      with the people of Israel
and with the people of Judah.
      32
It will not be like the covenant
      I made with their ancestors
when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of Egypt,
      because they broke my covenant,
      though I was a husband to[a] them,[b]”
      declares the Lord.
      33
“This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel
after that time,” declares the Lord.
“I will put my law in their minds
and write it on their hearts.
I will be their God, and they will be my people.”
Verse 31 is clear that a new covenant is coming and that it replaces the old covenant
Verse 32 contrasts it with the Old Covenant. “it will not be like...” the one made with the children of Israel via Moses.
Verse 33 explains the difference. This new law will be in their hearts and minds; it is not a to-do list of laws which carry the penalty of death. Circumcision of the penis was a sign of the old covenant. The new covenant requires being born again by the Holy Spirit. This is referred to as a circumcision of the heart. Romans 2:29, Colossians 2:11. Mentioned in the Old Testament but only temporarily possible through repentance on an ongoing basis. It was not until the Old Covenant was closed and Christ sent the Holy Spirit to make this spirit circumcision permanent through the His indwelling in the believer.
Gentile believers were never under mosaic law and because of the new covenant we are taught with complete clarity that we are not under the law (Romans 6:4) - which always brings death. We are under grace.
shall we sin because we are not under the law? God forbid!
We have two the commandments from Jesus and these are not burdensome.
      John 13: 34
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another”
This is the clearest understanding of the New Covenant which replaced the Old Covenant. It is a covenant that is to be in our hearts, because He dwells in our hearts.
      2 John V5-6
5 And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another. 6 And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.
To love Jesus is to obey him. To obey him is to love each other.
      I John 3: 23
23 And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.
We are His church. We are not under the Mosaic law - but under grace. This is clear in Jeremiah’s prophecy because he uses the phrase “Not like the covenant I made...”
It is vastly different. It is for this very reason that we have two separate portions of the Bible: the Old Testament which documents the history, Abrahamic promise, the mosaic covenant, the mosaic laws, and the prophets. In contrast to the New Testament which documents the fulfillment of messianic prophecies, the teachings of Jesus, history of the early church, our clear and only commandment of Love, and further prophecies regarding end times.
Because we are the church we have no right to teach, force, or require any believer to obey Mosaic law. This includes circumcision, which Paul clearly opposed as part of the New Covenant, and it includes the sabbath.
We are to encourage New Covenant law - that of love - which is superior in all ways to the Mosaic law.
I firmly believe in the importance of the sabbath in the OT - but only because It demonstrates God’s attitude towards us and our rest that we have in Christ. I am convinced that the sabbath has been replaced; it has not been replaced by Sunday or any other day of the week, but by Christ himself.
Many have made “keeping the sabbath” a condition of salvation by believing that if someone does not keep the sabbath then they are part of the Whore of Babylon and will suffer punishment. That is a form of legalism. Additionally, sabbath keeping is a subtle form of pride: “I keep the sabbath, God is pleased with me [but not with you.]”
God is pleased with us only because Christ is in us and for no other reason. We were created for good works which is evidence of our genuine faith - and those works are expressed through love for one another, our neighbors, and our enemies.
The true believer does not “go” to church. He (or she) is the church. They pray without ceasing. They sing to each other in Psalms, Hymns, and spiritual songs. They love their brothers and sisters, their neighbors, and their enemies. They make amends for their sins, they seek Christ in all things, and rest in him continuously; they do these things every day of the week.
So then, does this mean that we are exempt from keeping the 10 commandments? YES, but only because we keep them from the heart: Matthew 22:37
      1) Love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength - and we love our neighbor as we love ourselves.
      2) Do not falsely imagine God to be anything but who he actually is.
      3) We bear the name of Christ. Do not take his name in vain. Do not live like you are married to Christ, but fornicating with the world.
      4) Christ is our rest from works of the law.
      5) We must honor all lawful authority.
      6) We must love our enemies and give them food and clothes.
      7) We must not lust after another, which is adultery.
      8) We must work to supply our owns needs and those of others.
      9) We must speak the truth in love, because Christ is the truth.
      10) We must be content with what we have because he has said, “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.” We are coheirs with Christ.
The true church keeps the sabbath every day because we are in church every day..
The Saturday sabbath is not for the bride of Christ.
Christ is the Lord of the sabbath. He is the Lord of our rest.

Wow did this come at a good time for me! People from our old Mormon ward knocked on our door 5 minutes ago to collect tithing (🤷🏻‍♀️) and my 6 year old suddenly realized we used to go to their church. She asked why we don’t go to that church anymore which sparked a great opportunity for me to use some tips from this interview in explaining what truth is and why it matters. 🙌

I did the truth test on my 12 year old and the answer might be dependent on how it is phrased. WHen I asked is the truth true for everyone he responded "Not always", when I clarified and said, "I'm not saying that a CLAIM of truth is true for everyone but if you knew the truth then that truth is true for everyone" then he resonded "Yes". So things might be as dark as it at first appears.

To the first point made about feelings equate truth, I have experience dealing with this from a LDS member that I work with. His foundation is his feelings and this causes him to read his theology into the scriptures instead of pulling his theology from the scripture. It actually makes it nearly impossible to bring truth because he by default will take a verse out of context to support himself and his favorite response is, everyone interprets differently and maybe everyone is partially correct... my response is, nope... I categorically disagree with that statement.

You could point out that he doesn't interpret non-scriptural documents in this way. If your boss sends him an email with a list of tasks to complete, his interpretation of that list better be pretty close to your boss's intention in writing it! If something is unclear and your LDS friend discusses it with the rest of the coworkers, you can most often come to a pretty close agreement of the true meaning.

Critical thinking is learned. I learned by studying the Greek NT. When my 1st Bible as an adult being an Amplified Classic showed me. Oh, a word had a much fuller, more definitive answer. In reading like C.S. Lewis, Francis Schaffer, Owen, Nee. A few books with Bible in hand and HS in me I study still. And have learned and adjusted beliefs. Sometimes it is hard bcs you have a deeply ingrained belief but the Bible says otherwise. Then the cognitive dissonance can be strong. The Bible means what it says, sooo. Adjust n pray the HS brings one into ALL truth. 🕊💙

@@nicolepettit5120 this is an extremely good point! When I think about his claim on interpretation, it makes me ask, well is there reason to believe that there is a correct way to interpret something? If the answer is yes then that implies that there ought to be a wrong way as well. If the answer is no, there is not a correct way to interpret, then how can I trust what you are saying is what you are meaning to say... we would have no confidence in having any understanding from written or spoken communication. Thanks Nicole for your insightful comment!

@@mishaanton5436 Misha, great point! We tend to be prideful people... we as in most people. When we hold something as true, especially if it is for any significant amount of time, it becomes harder and harder to adjust that belief when a better argument arises or new understanding conflicts with the standing belief. I think society is stuck in a positive feedback loop and feeds on their confirmation bias, I know I struggle with it and it is very hard to set the pride aside for truth.

My family and I now, once again, go to a solid through the Bible church just outside of Portland, Oregon(of all places). During Covid our former church fell apart.
One of my boys goes to public school (He’s a freshman) and one is in a private Christian school (He’s a junior). I try to reinforce what you all are talking about here all of the time with them. For me it is an ongoing, uphill battle. There is a major spiritual battle in this world for the hearts, minds, and souls of everyone. Jesus Christ is the only hope - the way, the truth, and the life!
