This is the first Guzzi I have ever ridden and I really was blown away at how nice it really is! Has a lot of character and sounds like a muscle car when your riding it. I had a grin on my face the whole test ride!
Can't wait to grab one, even though I used to think they were funny looking with the motor sticking out like that! Boy did I miss a lot of fun for being prejudiced!
The griso is a work of art and that engine is a master piece 👍🏻
"Gentleman's sport bike." Nicely put.
I'm in your boat. Just stopped by today to peek at a V7, but the Griso totally rocked my world. The idle alone is enough to make you drool... must be experienced to fully appreciate.
Unfortunately Guzzi does not produce this beauty anymore. For me this bike was the true heir of the legendary Le Mans I.
Come on Piaggio - bring back the Griso!
The current Moto Guzzi portfolio is not satisfying at all! All CARC bikes are gone :-(
Good review. Just one thing; all that stuff about torque reaction because of the in-line crank also applies to all Boxer-engine BMW's, yet no-one ever mentions it. Guzzi reviews almost always contain this cliché, and sometimes the incorrect 'engine descended from a military 3-wheeled tractor' story. Guzzi's have all the character and heritage of a Harley but go, handle and stop far better and are a great real-world open-road 'bike.
the absolute best cornering handling on this planet
Cool can't wait to get mine
I love mine! It is a blast to ride, and its rarity means you always draw a crowd. It feels like my old LeMans with an extra 40bhp!
Note: Guzzi changed from flat tappets to roller tappets in mid 2012 because the flats were failing. Make certain your's has had this upgrade!
I’d buy a brand new. What a bike!
good review, well done
love the colors and the look !! if only a 4 cylinder super bike could look like this, now that would be sexy ;)
Art on two wheels... BMW and Guzzi engines, torque and shaft drive are to be loved. I love Beemers, but the Italians have the "style" hands down!
As the owner of a classic 1976 cruiser style Guzzi this is/was my choice from the Moto Guzzi lineup if i were in a position to buy. Oh, and if the side stand is lethal then i'm taking it off and fitting something else that's better functioning yet doesn't bottom out on corners. I'm not passing on the bike. I'm not looking for an out and out sportbike. More of a sport tourer and i like the looks of this.
Mine is delivered tomorrow :-)
Moto Guzzi: Una Storia Italiana.
love my Guzzi. love all bikes but really love my v7 ..
I tested both a V7 Stone and a Griso 8v SE, I found that the V7 doesn't lack in power on urban setting, its lighter weight makes up for that. The rear suspension of the V7 is stiffer, perhaps the heavier weight on the Griso absorbs bumps better. The Griso was superb, with gobs of torque, loads of character, a compelling exhaust note and very comfortable. I would be happy to have either bike in my garage.
Woow.. I like this bike. Classic but have a lot of power.
very cool
Does anyone remember that the 1970/80's highway patrol bikes in US were Guzzis?
love the wire wheels
Was looking at the v7 but wow, this looks awesome even if well over the budget. Not sure how great this would be for a novice rider. I really love the look compared to the current crop of sport bikes. Oh and think Google when you pronounce it--Moto Gootzi
... depends what you are on about. It's not a performance bike, true, but this bike has just so much style, no Japanese bike will ever get even close ..!!!!
@M0T0GUZZ1 I am that grey haired veteran LOL... except I'm not grey haired. When you see these bikes in person they just blow your mind. There's a couple that show up in this video:
Dunlop Sportmax Q2 on 2002 Triumph Sprint 955i
I keep thinking I must try a Breva before I get rid of my Sprint 955i. I love the Triumph but at the same time it's got so much damn power it's frustrating at times how easy it is to go fast in the city. Old adage more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow
Actually a pretty good looking motorcycle if not a bit pricey...
Note for the commentator : GU"ZZ"I it is pronounce like Pi"zz"a , I'm assuming you don't order a PIZA so non this case you don't say Moto Guzi it is too GUTZI to explain better. Listen to the German review comparison between BMW R 1200 and Griso V8 and see how they say to GUZZI
Forza GUZZI!!!!!!!!!
@SwollenCranium It's more an motorcycle for collectors. To be ridden not so often.
For a USA you use english really well. (compliment) I'd like to see a short story you might write. It would be like Hemingway. ....very neat and concise...no waste...and tight and contained..| keep going.
sorry mate:
It's MOTO! You can check it out on any Italian motorbike review on youtube!
Are you sure; your wife is from Italy???:-))
LOL, he said Goozy :D
gorgeous looking so expensive though... shame
griso v8, the best
For God sake, let people pronounce it the way they want. Makes Guzzi lovers look like snobs. I stopped giving language lessons years ago -- aggravates the hell out of people. (No disrespect intended.) BTW I'm nuts for my California 1400 Touring. Wish I had room for a Griso in my garage. Ride safe.
looks nice
put off by what he said about the shaft drive being... what did he say... not smooth?
and what on earth would a squid be doing riding a bike?
weird
You don't know what a squid is?
Every shaft drive bike has some slack in the drive line. Takes an afternoon to be expert in riding around that small issue. I personally love knowing i will never have chain mainteinance on this bike.
Dont know about the exhaust bit ugly from one side exquisite apart from that
@choopdewoot I think nada. Or nothing
I was the first person in England to write one off in 2006. The sidestand is too low, grounds on corners lifts the back wheel off the tarmac & shit down you go - happened twice to me - once in Italy 40mph "S" bends - off 0 - second time manhole cover UK - 80 mph off - bike straight into the front of an oncoming car - luckily my leathers slowed me so it was the bike only head - on. Beware of this Moto Guzzi - NOT INTERESTED!!! VOSA UK - NOT INTERESTED.
That would be the bloody awful Pirelli tyres that were mentioned, they do that. I've grounded my V7 a few times on Avons and they don't even twitch; they even grip road irons in the wet which is a bit of a novelty.
the European harley
ma chi sti ddi??
harley is trash, guzzi is the mother of all modern motorbikes!
for 14 g 's ill take a speed triple
Really 106 HP 7,500 rpm AIR COOLED ?
It doesn't seem so powerful.
Oil cooled...
Griso ain't a cruiser, its got a frame which is extremely thick & rigid, no limits to its abilities. On the Griso Facebook page the problem has been recognised. Its a very poor design, I don't know what they could do about it, but the design is poor. I was examining a Griso this weekend with a group of biker friends and they all agreed that the side stand is a hell of a lump. It is a bike I wanted to ride but could not because of this deadly design fault.
Because of the side stand?
xiu
it's moto lol are you kidding me?
Why the hell can't you 'Muricans say Guzzi properly? It's pronounced just like piZZa, see, GuZZi, piZZa, GuZZi, .... and a journalist that can't say the name of the bike.
It's not just Americans. Watch British, South African or Australian videos and they all mispronounce it. It's an English language thing. Deal with it. In the UK you're likely to hear "Guhzee"
"Guhzee" is nearer the correct pronunciation, it is not like "pizza" (there's no "t" sound).
Even italians have problems pronouncing "Guzzi". Mandelo del Lario is in Lombardy where the "zz' is pronounced 's', and the "u" is long hence "Guhsee". In standard italian every letter is pronounced hence "Guz'zi".
