    If they retcon the Netflix stuff into the greater MCU, I'd want them to do kinda like how they did the new Suicide Squad: keep the stuff people liked, imply that they happened without making people who never watched those shows feel left out, make improvements to existing characters/plotlines that still feel in line with the originals, don't make any drastic changes like reviving dead characters out of nowhere, ignore everything else.
    That being said, I'm down for them rebooting Iron Fist. And maybe give Elektra a second chance.

    Honestly, as for who Shang-Chi killed, I think it's a very simple answer: it doesn't actually matter WHO it was, just that he went through with it, then found out that the man was a father. Suddenly, he's at the other end of the knife that killed his mom, and CRISIS!!!!
    Simple answer, yes, but it would be fitting character-wise, because he sounds pretty broken up about it, and so ashamed of it all that he can't bring himself to finish the story.

    • @Volvagia1927

      Okay, but if they're going to go for something big and dramatic that leads to fights? (And these are still Marvel movies, so of course they'll go for that angle.) I know this might be kind of weird, and would definitely involve officially rebooting Daredevil (so who cares, really?), but: Jack. Murdock.

    • @azamonra
      @azamonra 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Honestly I didn't even think of who he killed, just that he had killed someone. The question of who, and why it matters never crossed my mind. This gets lost in film land a little but killing anyone is a pretty big deal cause IRL that shit fucks you up if you aren't a literal psycho.

    • @peggyliepmann5248
      @peggyliepmann5248 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@azamonra Agreed. This fourteen year old kid spent years preparing to kill this person, and when he does...it doesn't change anything. His mother's still dead, his family's still shattered, he's a child alone in a foreign country, and killing the man responsible didn't make that go away. Just that would be enough to drive Shang-Chi to run away from that which made this whole thing happen in the first place, away from the person he was, what his father made him into.

    • @rmsgrey
      @rmsgrey 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, who he killed is something they could come back to and use as a hook for future developments, but it's also something that doesn't actually matter until and unless they do make something of it.

    One more reason to like the Xialing story is its implications for the espionage/underworld part of the MCU, which is rapidly filling up with morally grey characters with very different motives.
    There are probably still many Black Widows running around the world trying to free each other, often from places of power. Agent 13 is back in DC and still has operatives in Madripoor. Then there is whatever the Contessa is up to. Either Wolverine or X-23 is coming to the MCU soon. The Ghost is still out there somewhere. Has Hank Pym been cleared yet, or is he still considered a criminal? Gambit might be coming to the MCU. Moon Knight is definitely coming to the MCU. Blade is coming, which means so are various secret societies of vampires and an entire nation of vampires ruled by a vampire king. Then on top of all that, there is a space ship full of ostensibly good Skrulls near Earth somewhere, which means it's only a matter of time before bad Skrulls show up and start infiltrating things.
    I'm surprised they haven't added Grey Hulk to complicate things even further.

    Marvel Netflix: First Season of Daredevil? Pretty good. First Season of Jessica Jones? AWESOME. First Season of Luke Cage? Pretty good. The rest of it...Sigh. I have to assume a mix of budget cuts and being told "you guys AREN'T canon" took the wind out of everyone's sails. If I were to assume why? VERY easy to assume Feige operates the film division under two edicts: 1. No Edgelords or Association with Edgelords. 2. NOTHING Can De-Legitimize Movie Plot-Points. The only show out of Marvel Television that violates neither of those two rules would be Agent Carter.

      To be fair I feel like no edgelords would be a good idea, unless it's like a joke I'm really tired of edgelord characters and stories. I got enough to be depressed about I don't need fiction adding on to it. Though I think the reason for the MCU ignoring tv and making it non-canon is that feige vs perlmutter fued had something to do with it. As much as people complain about the marvel tone in movies many people still go to see them and for the most part they're quality movies and fiege knows how to produce a quality movie. He's been in the industry a long time. With perlmutter he's cheap, racist, sexist, and is more interested in the bottom line than in the movies. Perlmutter was over the marvel Netflix stuff(daredevil, Jessica jones,Luke cage, iron fist, defenders) and the marvel TV stuff(agents of sheild, agent carter, the inhumans, the runaways.) I think from those selection of shows you can see the issue. The tv shows also pretty much only got the scraps the movies didn't really want or need. Perlmutter also was heavily against women led movies cause he felt they didn't sell well and thought all black people looked the same (so he was probably against non-white leads for similar reasons). I think that's why your seeing character characters like shang-chi and black panther and Captain marvel now as opposed to much earlier.

      Daredevil was good, until it tried to juggle legal procedural, scrappy startup company drama, undead ninjas, corrupt cops, and a love story, plus a crazy ex girlfriend, a wise old master searching for a mystical weapon, an evil twin (sorta), and I’m probably forgetting something. It was just too many short narrative threads.

      At this point, it's an MCU tradition that Bruce/Hulk has his/their character development happen entirely offscreen, with only hints and exposition happening onscreen.
      I have heard that it's due to rights issues with Universal, though there are mixed reports whether all rights have finally reverted to Marvel, or Universal still holds some. My research suggests that there was a rumour early last year that Marvel had got them back, which got widely reported as fact, before corrections came out months later. It seems that Universal (still) has distribution rights to any Hulk movies (which would presumably also include any where Hulk/Bruce has a major enough role).
      If that's the case, then there aren't going to be any Hulk solo movies, and only limited focus on the Hulk in team-ups, until the rights revert to Marvel.

Only he didn't really kill him, he got faked out with that technique the Iron Fists use in the comics to pretend to be dead. This gives them an opening to re-integrate the Netflix stuff and a martial arts based villain for Shang-Chi to fight, as well as retro-actively absolving the main character for murder, like they did in Black Widow. Hero can do no wrong is not my favorite trope, but Disney sure does seem to love it. I really don't see them doing the Netflix Iron Fist part, but they might do the last bit in some way. The season 2 of all these lost the plot or tried to have too much plot. Luke Cage was great up until the criminally stupid idea to kill off Mahershala Ali's character.
