    I appreciated the information shared on this video. The koi ponds featured are all so beautiful. I love watching those gentle creatures move and especially enjoy watching them feed off the owners' hands.

    In terms of their longevity, they are very long-lived. A single koi can easily live 50 years if taken good care of. May even outlive the owner.
    There had been one or two koi that purportedly lived for over two centuries. One of them was named "Hanako". It is believed to have lived for 226-228 years. They supposedly verified Hanako's age by counting the annual rings on its scales.

    hello to everyone who love koi.. I am in the process of building a very special unit that will inter-great in to your pond and what this unit will do is power everything that runs the pond..filter, pumps , uv lights and pond light and heaters etc the unit will run on water that is in the pond that is first distilled before being used in the unit ..If any body that is interested in helping me develop this unit you can contact me or i can arrange video chat to fully inform you about this unit if you are interested and have a special skills like electrician, mathematics engineering or chemist or any other skill .. any input would be great in developing the unit and its working towards running our pond efficiently and with no carbon foot-print green power solutions

    i was wondering, can you use a swimming pool sand filter instead of beads ? also can you use well-water in the koi pond ?

    • @crevice5369
      @crevice5369 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can use well water as long as you always check the levels of nitrate nitrite etc. it just has to be treated with water treatment

    1) Good day sir, I am, a koi keeper, would it be ok to put a "Pleco fish", (cat fish looking type of fish/ bottom dwellers), with the koi's in a pond or aquarium, cause I had heard that they eat fish poop, so in a way it helps to control waste in an aquarium/ pond etc. Like some fish keepers say. ???

    • @stevep119
      @stevep119 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      plecs eat algae not poop and they poo like race horses themselves

    • @crevice5369
      @crevice5369 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      they create alot of waste and no fish eats feces

  • @mastertrader3491

    Good day sir, your shows are very informative indeed.
    I have 6 baby butterfly koi's about 3-4 inches in size in an indoor 200 Litre tank, for now, I have a mechanical filter, but not a biological filter.
    Is a biological filter necessary. ???
    I feed them as much as I can when I can many times a day, my goal is to grow them big and fast.
    Also I have access to good clean water, I could do water changes every day etc. if I choose too, but I do change approximately 20 % of the water every 3 days etc.
    Thus, Is a biological filter necessary. ???

    • @crevice5369
      @crevice5369 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      better keep the bio filter to be safe or ask a local hatchery

    Are floating pellets better than sinking one's etc, which is "The Best", for the koi's ???

    • @crevice5369
      @crevice5369 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      sinking is better too much floating can mess up the swim bladder

    I have an indoor pond, should I keep the lights on for them at night or turn it off, which would be better for the koi ???
    And how do they sleep anyway ???

    • @davidchaney20066
      @davidchaney20066  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      koi don't really sleep like we do they sleep while moving around they turn off any unnecessary brain function so the lights wouldn't really bother them

    • @crevice5369
      @crevice5369 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      turning off lights at night can help save money and help the fishes immune system

    Good day sir, I have 4 baby butterfly koi's I feed them the Laguna brand small pellets, sometimes they swallow it and spit it out, does that mean the pellets are off/ bad etc. Pls. help. ???
    How often should we feed them at that age, my objective is to grow them as big and colourful and quickly as possible. ???

    all you need for a koi pond is a shovel, a lot of stones and a lot of plants, water and koi :-) no need for all these fancy equipment that make the pond both expensive and tedious, namaste

      ...so very wrong.. without filters amonia levels will spike and fish will die. they will not digest food properly in cold temperatures and need a heater.. please learn
