I had a long hot start on my 2006, dummy plugs. My truck left me stranded with bad IPR once. when I replaced I put heatshield (jacket) on it. Been about 6 years haven't had a high pressure oil issue since.
My 2006 f250 6.0 powerstroke would not run hot sitting at idle, but as sonn as u started driving the temps would hit 230 almost instantly, also had no heat in cab at idle. Turns out it was the water pump.
Make sure you are not using some weird coolant type, make sure you have the right water pump installed (two sizes on a 6.0 common for ppl to put old smaller one in on accident).
Appreciate the advice! I made sure to get the correct coolant and I’ve read about the two different water pump sizes , hoping I have the correct one bc they aren’t cheap 🤣
Next time you’re in there doing standpipes and dummy plugs (because ford changed their manufacture of O-rings during covid so they are junk now) purchase the Alliant O-ring kit (AP0028) cheaper and will actually last.
@@DieselTechFred I was a little confused by that because general an oil cooler is replaced when the EOT is too high. Which will appear as engine overtemp on the dash. I've seen a couple 6.Os that can loose heat or overheat under load due to the water pump impeller spinning on the shaft. Might be worth looking into if everything else is ruled out.
Stopped up. If u dont keep coolant and oil changed in a 6. 0 it will always stop u somewhere. Put a filter in line with coolant.never use water drom a tap either . Only use distilled water in coolant or corrosion will bild up. I bought a 2004 f250 and ended up spending 22k on a new jasper built 6.0 with lifetime warranty. I changed oil every 4k miles and coolant every 6 months and after 36k miles oil and coolant looks new every change
I had a 6.0 that would overheat and would not act right as in the fan would not kick on and it would tea kettle the water out of overflow res. Anyway would not act right. Was on a tow trip and the idler pully went out on the road. Changed it and the truck acted like a completely different truck the fan would kick on when it was suppose to that being said the heads were cooked and I eventually ended up doing the heads. But the engine was sick. Acted sick and had problems. If your going to keep it it sounds like the top end is cooked. Once they start getting hot the heads get cooked. If its not bullet proofed get that done when you do the heads get a diagnostic tool and learn at you tube school. You dont need someone telling you what we all know is that once they get hot they have problems. I have run a 6.0 for years. Unless your going to performance mod the engine get rid of the performance chip it will lead to more problems. I could set mine chip to max and pass other cars towing 36k in the PNW. Which im sure led to the last 6.0's death. I have a new one in my 550 crew centurion pu. It runs fine. But I dont try to make it a hotrod. Hope this helps...
yeah buddy, the fleet manager of a mid sized city with 40+ years experience in that cities maintenance and repair shops explained to me that the ford 6.0 is the worst engine ever built. period. that engine and the one that came after should have led to end of FORD what probably saved FORD are municipal contracts with federal govt and cities throughout the country that buy fleets of police cars, pickups , drivetrains and chasis's for busses and trucks
@DieselObsession ford didn't make the 6.0 but it has ford crap because epa so take that crap off and egr delete new head gasket and stud the right way. Here in Georgia they give lifetime warranty on bulldog heads lol

See I was thinking of my water pump too but after the oil cooler it never gets hot and says within 5 degrees from coolant and oil temp
@@DieselTechFred By the way i had a thermostat that would open in hot boiling water and it still casued my truck to run hot
Did u ever get the overheating issue fixed?
Sure did , after I did the oil cooler it never overheated anymore. Coolant stays around 190-205 degrees

Thanks! I’ve heard alliant o rings are what to get so I got a set on stand by in case these go out anytime soon.
Was the coolant temperatures overheating or the engine oil temps getting too high?
Coolant temp was overheating to 235 while oil temp was in the low 200s

Oil cooler shot
That grill is part of the problem. Ac coil cleaner works wonders to clean the air coolers.
That's a good idea, thanks for the tip!
What year is your truck
2007
Ficm wasnt the right voltage when it was had the key on befir the start
Sounds like you should have gotten a Dodge. Then you'd have MORE -POWER. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yea A great motor in a shitty truck lmao
I had a 2012 ram 3500 drw 6.7 and the transmission gave out at 140k so I’ll just stick with my ford 😅
More power but no gears left in the trans in a shitty truck.

Almost $25k into a 21yr old truck lol..
I heard jasper trash

I appreciate the advice, I'll be sure to check out the idler pulley. Thanks for the comment!
Clogged heater core
That’s what I figured, I’ll should be changing it out this weekend
Crank no start fica undrr overflow tank common problem

Ehh 6.4 would be the worst. Not many 6.4’s make it past 150k without cracking a piston
Nope 6.4 is the worst motor now the dt365 is a 6.0 lol so close to a cat motor 😅😅 fix the Ford crap on the 6.0 then it's fine good to go
