  • This video is Part Four of my journey on the Camino Primitivo, a 320 km hike through northern Spain.
    In this video, I leave Pola de Allende in Asturias (northern Spain) continuing to hike the Camino de Santiago - Camino Primitivo route. This video covers days six and seven of my 320 km hike.
    The Camino Primitivo is the original, the first Camino de Santiago and the path is from Oviedo to Santiago de Compestela.
    This isn't a Camino de Santiago documentary. This is a video series that I made that documents my Camino Primitivo.
    If you're planning on walking the Camino then I'd like to recommend the Camino Journal. It's a useful journal for walking the Camino de Santiago includes Camino Information, Spanish Phrase Book and Blank Lined Notebook and is available on Amazon here: amzn.to/40NGrhp

    Jason, nothing wrong with finding a cheap comfy hotel, and taking a quiet "rest day" intermittently during your adventure! It lets you really get to know those rural Spanish villages even better ! As you said yourself, "pacing" yourself is important and can make a challenging trip much more of an enjoyable overall experience. Thank you for your spectacular videos!

    I definitely agree about the breakfast issue, so I would recommend eating tortilla española at breakfast. Just go to any bar and say “hay tortilla?” Or “tiene tortilla”. It’s basically just eggs, potatoes, sometimes onion. It tastes wonderful and is packed with nutrition! Buen Camino!

      Yeah, the tortilla is a bit of a life saver but I don't think I could eat it every day.

    I watched all of the episodes and you are a warrior. It’s admirable that you continued in the face of obstacles. Everyone that knows you must be very proud of your walk. I’ve always wanted to make this walk!!! I am having a hip replacement next month and haven’t ruled out trying it when I fully recover. At 75 years old I may have to rely on your videos instead, but that’s ok. I have lived an adventurist life with no regrets. My only comment on losing your walking sticks temporarily is that not everyone are good people. It’s what you do with your feelings that matters!

      It would be great if you could walk the Camino after your recovery. For what it’s worth, there are quite a few people your age on the trail.

    Ich hätte Ihnen eines der Pferde gegönnt!
    Liebe Grüße -Ernst

    Jason, on that long and beautiful downward trail to the reservoir before Grandes de Salime, if I recall, they were not logging they were clearing up after a terrible fire a couple of years back. Also shame you were not able to make it over the top on the Hospitales trail, but it would not have been great any way with that bad weather. I lucked out and had a cloudless sky for all 24 kilometres., then stayed in the hotel/alberge in A Mesa.....poor kitchen there though

    • @TrailguidePictures
      @TrailguidePictures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, someone else recently told me that. Shame about the fire

    España es muy dura para caminar. Por eso el Norte del pais desde Euskadi, Cantabria, Asturias. Y Galicia ( ocupada por los suevos tribu germanica en el s.III, luego cristiana) Nunca fueron conquistadas, ocupadas desde hace mas de 3000mil años. Ni romanos, ni vikingos ni árabes, ni Napoleón. Lo lograron. 😅😊🤗
    Debiera cambiarse de zapatos y dejar las botas para caminos mas dificiles y protegerse de torcerse un tobillo. Lo ideal cambiar cada dia de calzado. Por ejemplo sandalias descubiertas con calcetines en los lugares llanos. Ánimo.
    Hay taxis que le llevan la mochila al albergue por 10€ más o menos vale la pena.🇪🇸

    Hello Jason, I recently started watching your Camino Primitivo videos and am really enjoying seeing the Camino from your viewpoint and also your focus on different aspects. Coincidentally I just walked it too and posted my "video album" of my experience. Interestingly, I think we were only a few days apart and the weather was very similarly wet. However, I did not film much during the downpours as I was using my cellphone for everything. I imagine you had a go-pro or similar camera that was waterproof?

    • @TrailguidePictures
      @TrailguidePictures  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I remember. You just commented on one of my other videos about your video. I used a Gopro Hero 9 and my iPhone 13 Pro. I used the gopro for the majority of the filming but the iphone for anything I wanted to get a better shot, including some of the rain shots. Sometimes you just need to take a risk with the weather and use the right camera in the moment.

    More beautiful scenery. The big cloud rolling in was kinda cool. The trail looked a little rough in some spots but overall looks great.
    What do people eat there for breakfast?
    Hope you found a place and had a nice big delicious meal and a comfy bed.

    It won’t hurt as much that last day as it does today because your body is adapting. The sad thing is your body will finally become adapted, you’ll have your hiking legs, and then you’ll quit hiking

    Maybe your top straps need to be tighter to lift the pressure from the top of you shoulders, it should get your pack a bit higher on your back and shift the waist strap to slightly above your hips not on them. Just an idea.

    • @TrailguidePictures
      @TrailguidePictures  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the suggestion. Yeah, I tried that for a day or two. Crazy but I think I had them too tight, when I loosened them it got better.
