  • This video is Part Two of my journey on the Camino Primitivo, a 320 km hike through northern Spain.
In this video, I leave the small village of Paladin in Asturias (northern Spain) continuing to hike the Camino de Santiago - Camino Primitivo route. This video covers days two and three of my 320 km hike.
The Camino Primitivo is the original, the first Camino de Santiago and the path is from Oviedo to Santiago de Compestela.
This isn't a Camino de Santiago documentary. This is a video series that I made that documents my Camino Primitivo.
If you're planning on walking the Camino then I'd like to recommend the Camino Journal. It's a useful journal for walking the Camino de Santiago includes Camino Information, Spanish Phrase Book and Blank Lined Notebook and is available on Amazon here: amzn.to/40NGrhp

Captivating. Never imagined spending 40 minutes watching a 49 year old dude walking along a trail! Can't wait to watch the next one.

Excellent piece of your journey. And especially on this video, the tranquil ambient noise was great, I think you could make a sound track just from that. The melodious sounds of the cow bells, the horse crunching his feed, birds singing, rooster crowing, water flowing, wind blowing, church choir singing, and the light but steady percussion from the soft crunch of footsteps on the path. Keep it up and age is just a number. I'm 64 and still often feel like 30 in my head (just a whole lot smarter 😁). And never pass up the opportunity to do what you really want, do it now. ☮️❤️❤️❤️😎

Thanks. Yeah I try to get a bit of f the sound recorded as I go. Tough on this hike with limited equipment (no mic) but there were some nice sounds these days.

Unfortunately, this week, Andy Jensen, programmer for the Camino Ninja App died in Leon at the age of 49y. He was well loved for his app and did around 8000 klms of caminos to keep these routes updated. R.I.P. pilgrim.

Last year I walked the Primitivo, but have also walked the Portuguese, Anglais and 823 kl. long del Norte to Finisterre. Wonderful experiences all of them. However, on route, you cannot help to notice that the horses are free, the sheep are free, the cattle are free, the cats are free but, sadly, in the main, the dogs are chained up or kept in cages. Apparently, their barking keeps the property safe. The only real negative observation I can make really. Will try the 1,004 kilometre long De la Plata next April/May.

Hi Jason. Really enjoying this series that I've only just found, thanks to the link through from Simon ABITW. Thank you for sharing your Camino. I've been thinking about doing it myself, so the info is all really helpful. It's a good mix of gorgeous scenery, and your experience of the trail. And your last comment about using the Spanish that you've got and not being overly critical is 100% right. Keep going! Suerte! (Good luck!)

That's a tough call. I was originally planning to do the Camino del Norte. Haven't done it, I don't have anything to add to your decision other than I really enjoyed the first 3/4 of the Primitivo. I'll return and do the Norte one day. I think if I found it too busy or not interesting enough, then I'd probably head back to the Primitivo.
