Black Skin Disease BSD Part 1

  • This is the first in a series of videos I will be doing on Black Skin Disease (BSD). I plan to take a proactive role this year before Bella shows signs of the BSD returning and resulting hair loss. I will be treating the dark strip down her back and on her hips/butt area where the hair is thinner and at this time has some black specks on the skin. My hope that if I treat her before she shows signs of BSD re-occurring that it will not return this summer or only minimally. She never loses her total coat any more but gets some very bad areas. The coat is thin and the skin is dark in those areas. I also want to see if keeping the skin from drying out and getting flaky will help in any way.
    The products I use are:
    Dermacton from www.equinat-us...
    Dermagic Bar Soap which I purchase at a local pet shop
    Oil from: www.matalas.biz plus they sell shampoo and conditioner, but they are heavily perfumed and I am allergic to scents of most kinds.
    Conditioner - I use my own unscented product from Old-Fashioned Foods. I will dilute it in warm water and spray it on when I brush Bella's coat.
    My website: www.seniorladyblogger.com if you are interested in my BSD story from 2011/2012.

    Thank you Hon - for sharing this information on this product - DERMACTON (BTW - not available on Amazon) - the British manufacturer will not reveal the ingredients, but whatever it is - it worked for my show quality full-bred pomeranian with BSD. I didn't do the intense bathing and oils. I just rubbed the cream in during the day, gave him a 1mg melatonin pill and put a t-shirt on him to keep him from getting sun on his skin. After a month of daily cream treatments, his spots stopped spreading - so I ordered more cream and continued our daily routine of cream, where I'd scratch it into his skin with my fingernails - and then let it soak in during the day under the tshirt. Took t-shirt off at night and brushed him. Bathed him as normal - every week or two depending on how messy he got from cream residue or dirt from outside, but nothing more than normal. I even brought him in the shower with me and used my sulfate free shampoo and conditioner on him that I use - nothing that I think would be a major contributor to his issue. Silver coloidal shampoo didn't work at all. The Dermacton was the fix. Absolutely the cure for this dog. I can't believe my veterinarian doesn't know about it. It's appalling that dogs suffer from this and the solution is there, but no one seems to know about it. Thank you - Thank you - Thank you - for taking the time to share your experience. It was very helpful to me and my baby, MokiMooBoo :) hugs If you would like to see my before and after's let me know and I'll send you a link. Adena

      Adena Wilder sorry I sometimes don’t get notified of new messages. During COVID-19 Dermacton isn’t available. It isn’t a cure though and will return and your baby will pass it on if you breed him. I would love to see pics though. Thanks.

    Bella is gorgeous! My Pomeranian, Freddie Mercury, a male aged 6, also has BSD. He was a stud dog for a breeder until it showed up when he was 3-4 years old. Then he was retired and neutered. His coat then grew back beautifully! However, he has lost his fur on both sides. His face and legs are fine. His tail is thin too.l
    I put t-shirts on him. Is this okay?

    Have a good year. Thanks to the product (made by brewing the plants) that I made with my own means, Black skin disease ended in a short time. Spray applied externally. Then the cream is applied and results are obtained in a very short time. If you are interested, I can also send photos of my own animal and animals of other friends (before and after) suffering from the same disease.
    NOTE: There is no chemical and preservative agent in my product.

    Dear Rosie, thank you so much for your advices. I’ve watched all of the series. Is Bella neutered? And would you recommend it, like does it help? And what kind of brush do you use? What’s the name of the brush? Thank you so much. Regards

    • @vanderingrose7079
      @vanderingrose7079  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shabnam Rahimi I recommend spaying for all pets. I don’t know if it helps or not, but dogs who are neutered or spayed seem to keep their coat better. I use an oblong pin brush because I like the shape and feel in my hand. It is a 25249 PSI Brush made in Germany. Sometimes hard to get. Any pin brush that feels good to you is fine. I wish you good luck with your dog. Stay safe in these times.

      I live in Germany, thank you for your tip. We went to a dermatologist for pets and she said that if you neuter a dog, then there’s no chance to grow her hair back when it is fallen out. I am a little confused about this topic. Is Bella neutered? And do they change their attitude when they’re neutered? My dog is a little Pomeranian girl and is 1,3 years old. She lost her hair an the sides of her body and a little around her butt. I’ve ordered the dermacton spray and soap and I am using the spray since three days now. I’ve also ordered the healing oil, that you showed. I was really lost but so glad that I’ve found you on here.

    • @vanderingrose7079
      @vanderingrose7079  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shabnam Rahimi the dermatologist is wrong. Bella is spayed (girls are spayed, boys are neutered, but mean the same thing - they can’t produce offspring). Once they are “fixed” (In Canada we use that term for neutered/spayed) they do get more sedate and can gain weight. My Bella has shown no different signs but some dogs do. She doesn’t get fat and her body doesn’t have that look it gets after being spayed. She does sleep a lot but always has. It is her 10th birthday today.
      Yes, they do lose their hair on the butt as well as other parts. Bella’s butt hair is always a bit thinner but she does get a great coat otherwise. It can take about two years before they get their best coat or it did with Bella. Lots of hard work. Because your Pom is 13 it may get to be too much, all the brushing, bathing. If that happens at her age I might just let her be. You don’t want to have her enjoy her last years or I wouldn’t. Bella is very good about the brushing but as they get older dogs seem to feel the pain more. Again good luck. And don’t worry about it too much. Also if your girl isn’t spayed yet, 13 is a little late to put her through a surgery.

      My dog is one year and three months old, a young dog. She’s showing sings since ocotober and round about February we’ve brought her to the dermatologist. Before that we brought her to her regular vet and she said we have to wait. The dermatologist also gave a her a medicine called Ypozane and told us that it worked with other dogs too. So the medicine is finish and now we are waiting to see if we can get any results. How old was Bella when you neutered her? Because I really am thinking about it. I’ve ordered the healing oil and I am using the soap and spray from dermacton. Do I need anything else ? I will start the exfoliating with the pad when the oil arrives. I was really lost because this is my first dog and I was really afraid of this. But I got used to it and I still lover so much, even more .. but I want her to have her coat back so I will follow all of your steps you’ve mentioned. Once again, thank you so much for all of your Tipps and your responses. I did a lot of research and I couldn’t find anything helpful but your tips are really giving me hope.

    Thank you for this video. I had a hard time listening to the video. Can you please tell what you are putting on your dog. The name of the product, and who makes it, and also your website. It sound like you said humectin? I think my dog has black skin disease, but it could be something more serious. I will be taking him to see the vet tomorrow. He is a Maltipoo. He turned a year old in January. I started noticing his skin getting darker back in March or April, and it is getting darker. At first I thought it was because he is now an adult, but I remember our other dogs never had dark skin, and that their skin was always a beautiful pink color. He does go outside a lot so I could be the sun as well, but I don't believe that is the case. So the breeder should not have bred the poodle and the Maltese, and no doubt they knew about the poodle carried the gene for the black skin disease. I hope they will be able to diagnose him tomorrow, and don't to hear that he has this disease, but I don't want to hear that he has some major illness either.
    update. I am watching part two, and you give the link. Thank you.

      YES, I was going to say that. I was new at making videos and I should have put it in. I think I can edit it and add. Good luck with your little dog. Is he losing hair as well. Sometimes dogs have dark pigment. Wait for the vet’s diagnosis. Of course Dermacton can be used just as a coat/skin conditioner and is made from all natural products. @@vanderingrose7079 Thank you for getting back to me quickly. It looks like he is losing hair around his belly area, and the hair around his chest area looks grayish. I started taking him to Petsmart last year to have him groomed. I have issues with pain as well with osteoarthritis in both my thumbs and some fingers, and carpal tunnel surgery, and last week I had surgery for a trigger finger release. The last time I had him trimmed, I noticed his belly area was turning darker. I want something natural, and the product you are saying looks like it is all natural.

      @@EliseAngelofHealing I am assuming because he is a Maltese/Poodle cross the groomer is shaving him. In Poms if the groomer shaves a dog with BSD the hair takes a long time to grow back. I don't know about other breeds. If it is the same with them for regrowth of hair. I really do hope that it isn't BSD.
      I edited all the videos and included the names and links of all the products I use on my Bella.
      Here is what I added:
      The products I use are:
      Dermacton from www.equinat-usa.com/dermacton-for-dogs/
      Dermagic Bar Soap which I purchase at a local pet shop
      Oil from: www.matalas.biz plus they sell shampoo and conditioner, but they are heavily perfumed and I am allergic to scents of most kinds.
