Hand Cannot Erase would have to be in my top 5 albums of all time. It's one that I just never tire of hearing. Guthrie Govan's work on both this and Raven are spectacular but on Hand Cannot Erase I feel he took it to a new level. The whole band just worked so well together and made these very special and even though Steven is a genius I feel he lost quite a lot when Guthrie and Marco stopped playing on his albums.
Hand Cannot Erase probably is my favourite as well. I love all his albums, but the theme, and overall concept and sound of this is just fantastic. Routine (one of my all time favourite songs) is just devastating, and Ninet Tayeb is the cherry on the icing on this delectable cake!
@@RhymeSignatures Ancestral gives me the chills every time! The Home Invasion version is amazing too! I sent you an email a few days back actually to gush over you!
This is the first time that I agree in every position in a list created by someone else. HCE is the masterpiece of SW entire career. Love this album! And To The Bone aged very well, I think I didn't like it so much on my first hearings just because of the expectations that I had after Raven and HCE. But nowadays I enjoy listening this album.
I always enjoy your videos. Though I love hand.cannot.erase and The Raven the most as well, I'd reverse them, as Raven ranks among my top ten or maybe even seven albums of all time...along with Deadwing
Insurgentes > Grace for Drowning > Hand Cannot Erase > The Raven That Refused to Sing > The Harmony Codex > To the Bone > The Future Bites The proggier approach to the first four albums is very appealing, but there's something special about the more minimalist approach to the first two as well that just makes them click the most with me. The last three have more of an electronic/pop approach which are good, but doesn't click with me as much as the first four. Overall, I like every album, and Steven Wilson is one of my favorite songwriters out there.
I will probably check out The Raven That Refused to Sing because I keep hearing it on the radio app that I listen to nightly. I like what little bit I've heard, but I'll probably wait until after the album releases or between them.
Insurgentes is my favorite. Love the sound and the vibe of that album throughout. The rest would be The Raven That Refused to Sing > To the Bone > Hand Cannot Erase > Grace for Drowning > The Harmony Codex > The Future Bites. Looking forward to The Overview, but nervous about the fact that there are only 2 tracks. Could be really good or could be really bad.
I absolutely loved The Harmony Codex. I quite liked The Future Bites, actually. Looking forward to the next one. Edit: I took against Hand Cannot Erase, because of the plagiarism of St Etienne's "Over The Border" from Words and Music (2012).
To The Bone. Future Bites. HCE. Harmony Codex. Raven. Insurgentes. Grace For Drowning. Controversial probably, but for me, I prefer his less proggy moments, & instead, prefer his more "straight forward" simpler structured songs
@@RhymeSignatures Last time I saw him was at the RAH on the To The Bone tour, and loved the more traditional structure of the majority of the tracks played, until he relented to the prog fans and played Ancestral, which I thought really ruined the flow & feel of the gig. I was surprised he played such a proggy song on that tour bearing in mind the majority of the rest of the set being far more straight forward. He certainly doesn't worry about challenging his audience with his album releases by changing genres, so I was surprised he tried to please all types when he played live. God knows how ecclectic the set will be on his upcoming tour, considering he's not toured TFB or THC, although the new album is apparently more of a return to prog! Maybe he'll play for about 5 hours and try to please everyone! It'll be fun to see though, I'm sure. 🤣😂🤣
Hce > raven> TTB > harmony > grace > insurgentes > future bites Top 5 sw songs: 1. king ghost❤️ 2. Perfect life 3. Luminol 4. Ancestral 5. Economies of scale I typically get things early. I've tried contacting you on here and Facebook but you never saw my messages.
Hand Cannot Erase is number 1 for me too. Especially the 5.1 dolby mix is mindblowing!

Agreed completely, the absence of both of them was really felt in subsequent albums!
Love Steve Wilson Hand cannot Erase 10/10 one of the best albums of the last 40 years
Thank you pal , Hand Cannot Erase is an incredible album . I saw him in Brighton on that tour , superb
Awesome! I remember seeing him shortly after To the Bone came out, in Manchester
Amazing gig, one of my favourite musicians I've seen live ❤️

Routine and Ancestral are amongst his absolute best songs ever

hand cannot erase is so good man. im glad im not alone out there.
Every single moment is special ❤️
I know you mentioned it, but I’ll expand on the fact that Guthrie Govan is what puts the top two albums at the top.
Guthrie is one of the best modern guitarist, he's just extraordinary
Great video Iain. Good to see you in good spirits and keeping well.
Nothing brings me down, that music can't heal!!

Always fun when you find someone who's tastes match your own :D

That's fair! Raven is one of the all time best ever 🥰

I'm super excited to see how proggy The Overview is!

Raven is absolutely magical ❤️
Drive Home contains my all time favorite guitar solo--lovingly crafted and perfectly performed
Insurgentes is my favorite. Love the sound and the vibe of that album throughout. I'm confident it will be great! Think about some of the all time classic prog rock albums, there's a lot of 2-track albums!
Nice ranking. I would reverse to the bone and grace for drowning. I do like beautiful scarecrow from codex allot
That's definitely one of the best songs of Harmony Codex!
1 Raven, HCR (tie)
3 Grace
4 TTB
5 Insurgentes
6 Harmony Codex
7 TFB
Great list, great ranking!
I absolutely loved The Harmony Codex. I quite liked The Future Bites, actually. Looking forward to the next one. Edit: I took against Hand Cannot Erase, because of the plagiarism of St Etienne's "Over The Border" from Words and Music (2012).
Agree with the order
No 1 - Grace For Drowning
I love Hands Cannot Erase as much as the next SW fan, but I'm a Raven man.
It really is always a battle between HCE and Raven isn't it 🤣
@RhymeSignatures oh 100%. Both certified S Tier, masterpieces.
Have all up to and including to the bone, saw this tour concert. Hand, cannot, erase is best, but raven is close second.
I really love Man Of The People from The Future Bites.
That's definitely one of the good songs off the album :)
I liked Personal Shopper and Follow Me. That's about it for me.
My ranking: worst to best - The future Bites, Harmony Codex, To The Bone, Insurgents, Grace For Drowning, The Raven and Hand. Cannot. Erase.
To The Bone, The Future Bites, The Raven, Harmony Codex, HCE, Grace, Insurgents.
A bit unconventional probably, but that is my taste.
You gotta do you!!
To The Bone. Future Bites. HCE. Harmony Codex. Raven. Insurgentes. Grace For Drowning. Controversial probably, but for me, I prefer his less proggy moments, & instead, prefer his more "straight forward" simpler structured songs
Absolutely valid! Love to see To the Bone getting more appreciation ❤️

Hand.cannot.erase is the best. The harmony codex second
I feel THC could go higher in my rankings as I listen to it more, it's certainly very bloody good!
