    Excellent video and thank you for taking the time to make it.
    You are correct on the fact of SRMs being the best brawling weapons.

      Btw, what is Missions_YAML ? Is that a real mod? Where's I find it?

      Yes, I think you can get it on the same NexusMods page as Yet Another Mech Lab. It allows the story line missions to use the mechs added by YAML.

    What kills Framerate in Mech 5 Mercs are the many of the heavy under optimized effects. The biggest offenders are the smoke effects from different explosion types like smoke from chemical containers to some terrain and rock types

      that is exactly the sort of thing that xenopax is supposed to fix.

    I ran this through again without VSYNC (still in 4k). In vanilla play with no optimize I generally sat between 75 and 90 fps with occasional spikes to 93 and occasional dips down into the mid 60s. With XenoPax Optimize enabled that increased to sitting between 103 and 80 fps with spikes up to 110 and the dips down to 75. So XenoPax Optimize added 10-15 fps for unmodded play. Our modded version of the experiment generally kept our fps dipping below 60 so it should still be a valid test even with vsync on. I will probably do another quick video to show this and include the XenoArghs newer art optimizer as well. I'll probably lower the resolution to 1440 or 1080p for that as well as Jason says down below, 65% of players are on 1080.

      1080p is a sad low resolution, unless you are running Skyrim where there are 150 different mods to make things look better.

    • @RoamGaming
      @RoamGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@stardaggerrihannsu2363 yes but 78% of people play it at 1080 or less. An experiment for the 1% isn't of much use to the general public. :) And Skyrim always looks bad. The only solution I found was the "uninstall" mod. :)

    Does YAML inclue optimizations from XenoPax Optimize?

    I wish you would just say if its good or not, I dont have time to sit here 30 minutes and look if it works. then I could have checked it myself by that time

      there is a comment from me with results from the non-vsync test and a summary of both tests. you could also skip to the end.

    Applaud you reaching for the stars, but may want to drop to 1440p. Better visuals and frame rate. According to Steam a bit over 65% of users are still on 1080p. Including lower resolutions accounts for just over 78% of users.

      I think we'll run this series through with 4k and then probably drop to 1440 for future series. We'll see. I want to do some more experimenting as well. XenoArgh has an art optimized mod as well. I wasn't using it because I was running some customized textures with some other mods and I didn't want to to conflict. I think getting rid of the WarFX mod would help performance rather a lot as well especially on some of the more custom maps like Space Port city. When I started the 4k experiment I just wanted to boost from 1080p/30 to 1080p/60 and boost the bit rate to cut down on some of the blurrying we were seeing in fast moving scenes. It just kind of snowballed from there. TH-cam is planning on changing their 4k policies as well and are going to require you to pay for a premium membership to get 4k so most people are not going to be able to view in 4k anyway. It also takes me about 1.5 to 2 hours to upload and another further 12+ hours to process one of my videos in 4k. I don't mind the time but it means that I can't react very well to comments before I have to get a video recorded if I want it to be posted on time. Cutting back to 1440 should cut a significant chunk of time off of that process.

    Bro’s got v-sync on 🤦‍♂️

    You'll never get above your monitor hz (60 in your case) when using vsync. You have to deactivate vsync to get above 60 fps.

      I'm going to replay a mission and see what I can get without vsync. I'll post a quick video showing the results.
