I let my mechanic do the job on Prius 2010. I brought him 2 gallons of antifreeze and he only used one. He did the job within an hour. On my way to work I saw the temperature light came on. When I get to work, I opened the hood. There was barely nothing on the reservoir. On my way home The temperature light came on twice and went out. I figured it was low on coolant. at home, I started my car in maintenance mode. Turn the heater on, but there was no heat and the car started overheating. I could’ve done a better job myself just don’t have the time now. I think my thermostat is probably clogged. Please does anybody have any suggestion what to do next? Awesome video by the way you’re helping a lot of people thank you.
I tried blue devil pour and go at first and didn’t take thermostat out. I folled directions and let it sit for 50 mins but little did I know my heater core was clogged up and that’s why I wasn’t getting any heat in the cabin. So since I wasn’t getting proper coolant circulation in my system I drained it and then the next day my gasket tester kit came in the mail so I done a head gasket chemical test on it and the liquid turned green from blue. The kit works like this… You pour the blue chemical in the flask and put it in your radiator opening. then you squeeze the bulb and if the blue liquid turns yellow then you have a blown head gasket. Since my liquid turned green that told me that I have a small leak in the head gasket even after The 1st batch of pour and go blue devil. So I replaced my heater core and got my heat working and coolant flowing good then I bought the non pour and go bottle and took my thermostat out and followed the instructions carefully. Let it cool down and drained the blue devil and refilled with coolant and the used my gasket tester kit again to see if it turned green again and was very impressed with blue devil! My tester liquid was as blue as it was when it came out of the bottle!! So very impressed and as far as I can tell there is no damage to my car system and boy does it feel good to have my heat back at the start of this winter!!

I've used Blue devil in the past and never removed a thermostat first. But he could be right. Do you think this will work on a leaking freeze plug as well?
I think it would depend on how bad the plug is leaking.
Best detailed video on this thank you so much
Hello! What if my heater system doesn’t work? I won’t be able to turn it on. It’s a 87 c10. Will it still be ok to use this product? What do you suggest. Thanks in advance
What's wrong with your heating system? It will still work though.
@@OnlineAutoRepairVideos I brought the truck a while back and the whole AC / Heating system doesn’t work, I guess is not connected? Thanks for the advice
Can i use it if i don't have any heads gasket
No, the headgasket is what melts the liquid and hardens around the bad part of the gasket.
Where do I put the blue devil liquid in an 01 GMC Yukon I don't have a radiator cap.
It has a coolant reservoir. That's where you add it.
Don’t do that you have to use the top radiator hose
It’s okay to runs the engine for 50 minutes with just water and blue devil?
Ya u can use any liquid as coolant lol
I used the smaller bottle white label. My thermostat got clogged and I followed the instructions to a T. What went wrong?
Hey Tim I need your help with a ford focus
Sidebar question: Do you still add water even if the coolant you purchased was a 50/50 mix?
You can. You can run straight water if there is no danger of freezing. You can dilute a 50/50 mix in half or more and it still won't freeze even if it's badass cold where you live.
Why add water just add coolant water will risk overheating
@@alexanderpapii4866engines cool fine on water, despite the slight extra viscosity. It's freezing and corrosion protection that water lacks. Also, if in a warmer climate or just for the summer it doesn't hurt to run a little more water than 50/50.
Should you change the "milkshake oil" before or after this process?
Even though the directions don't mention anything about that, I would. Change it with some cheap oil.
@@OnlineAutoRepairVideos its a BMW 745 i bought for $400...and as a v8, I wasn't sure if I should use good oil or not for this procedure (definitely good oil AFTER if it works).
Thanks
@@sonofaleph2140 Definitely!
I used the stuff it worked pretty good until I used the stop smoke and leak then my car started smoking ironically
Why did you use water instead of coolant?
The blue devil will flow better with the water; it will not reach everywhere you want it to with coolant.
Directions say to
Just did this process 5/9/24 10:30 am 50min run time I’ll get back
It definitely reduced the white smoke. It Started to over heat after about 20 min of city driving.
@professorsmith5337 did it work? I just did my truck Toyota tundra 03 v8 4.7L
@@professorsmith5337 I think you need to let it cool down for a good day
@@damahom92 I appreciate that
@@damahom92 I was able to drive it to the destination had to pull over a few times to let the engine cool down. I could see the smoke coming from the radiator and the thermostat rising. It made a significant difference however
My bottle doesn't give the capacity amounts, it just says to pour but not how much to pour.
Is that your coolant reservoir ?
Thank you
Without thermostat and its gasket won't coolant just leak out where housing bolts on?
Just be sure the gasket or seal is still there.
My seals are part of my thermostat the way it’s made.
So when I remove them, the water just leaks, even if I use sealant. Plus I have two thermostats on the housing not just one. This did not work for me at all.
@@ShotByStyles Simply remove the guts of the thermostat with tin snips and re-Install the rest. That way you keep your seal and no leaks.
@@dalepress1581 Thank you
I will make a video of how this goes soon.
Is hose water ok or strictly distilled
Yes, you can use hose water.
I use tap water for flushing but use distilled water when refilling with coolant.
What happen if your thermostat isn’t separable?🤷🏻♂️
I've used Blue devil in the past and never removed a thermostat first. But he could be right. It just seems like kind of goofy cuz if you're going to turn on the heat all the way and go drive the car right after you pour it in then it's going to open up the f****** thermostat and then the damn thing is going to f****** run fluid through all the whole motor everywhere in the coolant system and then the thing does its job. I don't see why you would want to take a thermostat on out and run your vehicle without a thermostat for any amount of time. Not to mention that afterwards you're going to have to turn around and drain all that coolant out again to put the thermostat back on or you're going to have a mess. Just like you said when he took the housing off in the first place zero out of 10. Do not listen
Why not just let it get up to operating temperature so the thermostat warms up and the flow gets triggered?
Once a thermostat opens, it will eventually close again. you need full flow all through the procedure.
After letting the car idle for 50 minutes, is it safe to flush again and add antifreeze ?
Yes, but make sure the car has time to cool down because the water will be very hot.
According to the bottle it works on
• blown head gasket
• warped / cracked heads
• leaking heater cores
• leaking freeze plugs
I cannot remove my t stat on my 2.0t it's part of my water pump...
So you didn't add water?
Definitely need to change the oil right after you do this the oil will undoubtedly be contaminated with silicon carbide
good job man
Why do you have to drain the water an the blue devil after you finish is it because you can’t mix the coolant an the blue devil
We do that because we do not want any left over blue devil to clog up the thermostat.
@@OnlineAutoRepairVideos Thanks I already did mine an it worked my oil cap was getting the brown slush an now it’s not doing that anymore
Because if you live where it's cold , water FREEZES...... lmao
Do I have to flush the radiator or just drain it?
@@christinescalera420 Drain the water an coolant if it has then put blue devil an wait like 50 minutes leave it idle
What if my car doesn’t stay start
Look I’m fixing to do this for a truck sitting for 5 years, it’s only got 32,000 miles on motor. I wish there was some instructions for cars sitting for a while, and what steps are necessary beforehand! I don’t have time to wait for a video but if you see this, let me know something please!
I feel like watching this without a blown head gasket is bad luck lol.
LOL!!!!
Nice"
A mechanic put stop devil leak in my 2005 Honda Accord and now i don't have proper heat with the heater on full blast. 😂
But it doesn’t say pull thermostat !! Just start pouring
