I'm personally a bigger fan of the way the Phase one XF looks. To me the Hasselblad x2d I more inline with phase ones styling than Hasselblads, I guess that's a good thing for me though.
Wow. I have watched all of your videos and this is probably the most stunning one so far. Something with the music and how it syncs with the b roll, as well as the new CRT screens etc. awesome!
I think is a pendulum swing response to the death of the DSLR. I think there'll a "surprising resurgence" in consumer-level (think powershot cheap) pocket-able cameras in about 5 or so years
I have owned and still own many exceptional cameras from Leica, Nikon, Canon, Fujifilm, Pentax, Mamiya but I have never owned a camera that inspires me to pick it up and use it like the Hasselblad X2D. The image quality and color science in that camera is above and beyond more superior than any camera I have ever used.
False. The best camera in the world is none other than the Canon T3i.. absolute beast of a camera and way ahead of it’s time. Puts the Hasselblad to shame
Love it as always, Casey! I enjoyed my time with the X1D II, although it _did_ cause me to slow down a bit more than I wanted. Hopefully I can try the X2D and GFX 100 II sometime this year too!
Thanks Joe!! I haven’t had a chance to use that one but I imagine the AF is faster on this. Definitely a bit on the slower side but again it doesn’t really affect me too much. I might bring it to Japan in Feb so I can show you ;)
I have waited all my life for this camera and I started with a Baby Brownie in '48. This camera is wonderful in IQ and color. It does so much so well. And, yes, it is an industrial design gem, it is fun to hold and easy to use. Expensive as hell but worth every penny.
Wow, your videos are literally art and are getting even better--- great review of this camera and your examples of the image quality of this camera are perfect--- Thank you
GxAce, I wanted to let you know that your influence played a significant role in sparking my passion for photography. My journey began in 2016 during my financially challenging college days. I managed to save enough to purchase a Canon 7DMKII, with an APSC sensor and a whopping 20.2 megapixels, with a usable ISO of 6400. Since then, my camera collection has grown and now my go-to camera today is the Sony A7RV, equipped with the 16-35 GM lens, version 1. I've purchased all your Lightroom presets and I love their distinctive look and feel. Your videos are a continual source of inspiration for me. Each new upload is an event in our household as my wife and I watch them together. I'm grateful for your work and the impact it has had on my photographic journey. -Ian
You are truly making some of the best content on TH-cam, especially when it comes to camera "reviews" (it feels like an insult to call your videos that). Everyone of your videos feels like a film in itself, a glimpse into that sci-fi world you are creating.
I think whatever camera you use , you make it a hasselblad or whatever you want. Your videos are insanely good and I am totally mesmerized how good are you.
I love your videos. So creative! Great review on the X2D camera. Maybe we'll see some lens more Hasselblad reviews in the future??? The X2D is a bit outta my price range so I might grab the X1D-II which is still a great camera!

Damn It GxAce! Why did you have to do this! Just when I thought I had my GAS under controll you have to drop a video like this. I love the colors coming out of the X2D!
HAPPY NEW (CREATIVE) YEAR, DEAR CASEY :) Vid is really great. I love the "jackpot" effect, lol. And also your music and sounds, of course. :) Greetings from Belgium.
Your video is very creative. I almost bought the predecessor of this camera new in December of 2016. I was in LA at Samy’s and ended up buying a Leica S007. At the time, the Hassy was new and had serious software issues in that we couldn’t even get it to boot up. One thing I can attest to is the quality of HC glass with Leica making an S to H adaptor. Some of my favorite shots have been made with Hasselblad lenses. Since 2016, I’ve crossed paths with several versions of this camera, but I was never convinced that I should make the plunge as Leica always seemed to have the edge. As I watch your video, I am swayed somewhat by your images, but 100mp is a bit much in my opinion. Maybe I will make a change at some point; however, I’m getting a lot of mileage out of 24mp full-frame cameras including my Sigma fp and my Leica SL2-S. And if I want to get the best look, I’ll shoot my H2F or 7ii. I also have a 6x6 Ikonta from 1954 that is very capable. As for the X2D, I will say that the build quality and in-hand feel is stunning. If you can live with the res, it’s a beautiful camera.
That rolling shutter, though... I use the Fuji GFX100S and previously the GFX50R and the rolling shutter is a legit issue to contend with when shooting electronic shutter... It's not something I would want to have to do all the time for certain.
Awesome work as always. You nailed it. I’m fortunate to have this in my kit. I have never shot a camera that delivers more accurate, natural colors than the X2D. It’s pure joy to shoot with.
i wish the MF feature at 4:31 was on every camera i remember some adapters for MF lenses to Canon EF used to have focus confirm which was similar and it sucks that there isn’t this kind of “MF focus confirm” for all cameras
Nikon has a similar function all of the cameras I've ever used from them, d2x D7000 D800 Z6ii and Z9 plus the Z9 has in viewfinder focus peaking if you like that, (I do like that). In the bottom left corner of the viewfinder below the image section next to the metering mode indicator.
GX Ace's aesthetic is so cohesive that it really looks like someone from another world is somehow receiving camera gear from earth and testing in his distopian reality
Hasselblad now is nothing like they were even a few years ago after getting bought out by DJI. They don't even make parts for their old legendary H6 cameras anymore that many pro photographers are using so that's left a bad tase in a lot of people's mouths. Hasselblad seems in much better shape now than for decades I’d say. It’s funny on the internet some people thinks ownership equals management. That’s not the case. Hasselblad was sold to external owners in the 1970’s. Hasselblads are designed and manufactured in Sweden same as always.
