Yes! I'm a Filipino but I learned this whole Philippines' participation in the Korean War from YT video "March of the Valiant" too and to know that Pinas helped the jewish refugees too! My heart swells with so much Pinoy pride!
I already knew that Filipino soldiers also came to Korea and fought for our freedom. I sincerely respect and appreciate their sacrifice. Without that help, we, as Koreans can not survive and enjoy freedom. Again, from the bottom of my heart, I want to say thank you. ❤❤❤
My daughter used to watch not only Korean miniseries. She was a huge fan of anything Korean. We've even travelled to Korea just to see d places where those TV dramas were shot. But now she's stopped. When I asked her why, she said she can no longer take the bullying, d way South Korean fans look down on us Filipinos. We're not asking for anything in return for d gallantry/sacrifices made by our soldiers. Respect is not demanded. It is earned. We earned it.If not for d entire Filipino nation,.for the descendants of the Filipino soldiers who gave their lives for the Korean nation.
Not all Philippines were colonized by Spain. There are tribes who defended their freedom and culture for over 3 centuries that the country was under the Spanish rule. One of them are the Igorot tribes from the cordilleran region. Our culture was still preserved to this day. But it was when the Americans came that they were subjugated as well and you can see traces of American influences to the Igorot people particularly to their love of Country music, donning cowboy and hats. Baguio city is also the coldest city here in PH offering a refreshing escape from the tropical heat. It's a testament to the enduring spirit of our people and the diverse tapestry of cultures that make the Philippines truly remarkable. 🙂
I believe you need to watch battle of yultong to understand why its was instrumental turning the tide in favor with allies. Not only in battle of yultong but there are also instances in korean war that filipino strategist made allies forces in advantage and won the war.

The only son and the son-in-law of the president of the Philippines are also belongs among this soldier that fought in battle of yultong in south Korea
I've been there a Korean museum where the bravery of the Filipinos in the battle of Yultong was exhibited. Only almost 1000 Filipino soldiers defeated 40 thousand Chinese and North koreans. Remember Douglas MacArthur an American general in World War 2 said : "Give me 10,000 Filipino soldiers and I will conquer the world. " He was best known of his promise to the Filipinos " I shall return"
Thanks guys for this video, I didn't know that there were Filipino soldiers who gave their lives for Koreans. All I know is, countless American soldiers sacrificed their lives for the Philippines in WW2. That's why we consider Gen. Douglas MacArthur and Pres. Theodore Roosevelt as our HERO. American by blood and Filipino by heart. We salute you guys.
1521 Portuguese Ferdinand Magellan discovered the Philippines for Spain when their ship landed in Mactan island, Cebu. He was killed in the Battle of Mactan. Spain sent more expeditions after that and in 1565 conquered the Philippines thru Miguel Lopez de Legaspi & colonized the country until 1898, so we're under the Spanish rule for 333 years before the Americans " freed" us😁
Actually, Magellan was sent by King Philip II of Spain to an expedition to search for the Spice island where ancient traders got their spices, but Magellan mistook Mactan for Spice island and accidentally rediscovering it( 'coz Philippines had long been trading with Chinese and i think Arabs also at the time)🙂
Comfort women were women and girls forced into sexual slavery by the Imperial Japanese Armed Forces in occupied countries and territories before and during World War II. The term "comfort women" is a translation of the Japanese ianfu (慰安婦),[6] which literally means "comforting, consoling woman".[7] During World War II, Japanese troops forced hundreds of thousands of women from Australia, Burma, China, Netherlands, Philippines, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, and other countries into sexual enslavement for Japanese troops; however, the majority of the women were from Korea.[8] Many women died or committed suicide due to brutal mistreatment and sustained physical and emotional distress. (wikipedia)
Some women were shot and/or burned alive. In the Philippines, my grandmother, together with other young women in their small town, hid in the forested mountains where her maternal side of the family lived. I always hear the story how my grandparent's courtship went❤. My frail grandfather was forced to be a soldier, saved by a friend and then eventually survived the Japanese brutality. He had about 2 bullet scars at his back.

The Spanish was accidentally find the Philippines looking all kind of authentic spices. Then they find out that Philippines have so much potential for farming and so much resources that is why started the colonization.
What I've read about PH history was that pre colonial PH was already in trade with other Asian countries like the Chinese, Arabs, Indians etc. Since the country is an archipelago there was no united governance and instead have divided kingdoms. Precolonial natives were actually progressive culturally. Higher rate of literacy compared to Spain. Even some of the lowest classes of people can read and write the baybayin- written language back then (which by the way imo looks beautiful , it imitates the movement of the waves). Women can hold high positions in the society such as village chiefs, shamans(babaylan) which are highly respected, warriors, rights to divorce, etc. There was no prejudice against homosexuals who dresses as girls since they were treated as women in the community. Spain's 1st to 3rd expedition to the country actually failed because of the warriors that defeated their soldiers. It wasn't until the 4th expedition of Spaniards based in Mexico that Spain took advantage of the warring divided kingdoms and also used Religion that the colonization started. One thing I'm thankful of that the colonizers did not completely destroyed in the PH culture is the respect for women. Their patriarchal society did not flourish much since up til now the PH still holds the most gender equal country in Asia.

History is actually always part of our subjects from elementary even to college. Government gives really a big importance to history, and many students are all complaining about memorizing dates and name of dead people. Clearly, its very important to know our origins. Many students are just still ignorant about this hopefully, they will appreciate our country more by knowing our past .
Just some information, I’m an older Indigenous Native American lady…my father-in-law was “drafted” and fought in the Korean War. He was wounded and was shot in his hip defending S. KOREA. Yes, I just recently found out about the DRAFT. 🤔🤷🏻♀️

The SPANISH conquered PHILIPPINES because we are RICH in NATURAL RESOURCES LIKE GOLD that until now we SUPPLY GOLD INTERNATIONAL and of COURSE our LAND is very FERTILE and you can GROW all Kinds of PLANTS.
Comfort women in the Philippines are those who were forcefully captured by the Japanese during their occupation and imperialism in our country. From teenage girls to even married women are in no exemption. All husbands were killed right in front of their kids and wives. Women were held hostaged in dungeons, and were constantly raped by high ranking Japanese officers day and night. My greatgrandmother was one of the comfort women during those times. Her husband, my greatgrandfather was tasked to serve in one of the Japanese officer's headquarter to just stand by beside that officer and wipe his boots. He was killed later on not by a gunshot, but by slashing his throat using a Samurai. Some of the comfort women who lost their sanity and no longer useful to the Japanese officers were shot point blank and some were poisoned. Some survived, and my greatgrandmother was one of them. That's where the word "Comfort women" came from. When the hostaged women were forcefully told to give sexual services to Japanese officers for instant gratification and comfort.
@@TripTipsPodcast Thanks. She was a great woman. She never allowed her past to define her true self. She She never married again, and decided to dedicate her life taking care of her only son who were just 4 years old when the war started. Spanish explored the Philippines for spices. That would be my immediate knowledge. There could be other reasons than that I guess. Need to research more definitely.
Magellan who was a Portuguese who wanted to find an alternate route to India and the spices it had. He found sponsors in the Spanish crown. Along with the promise of an alternate route to the Spice lands, the Spanish crown also wanted to bring Christ to those who do not know Him. When Magellan arrived at a land he thought was India so he called the natives Indio but he had not reached India but an island in the Philippine archipelago, Cebu.

Originally Magellan and his men were searching for a way to the Spice Islands which are in present-day Indonesia so they pretty much missed. Spices brought in a lot of money then but the Portuguese defended their deals with the local rulers there to Spain backed off. Eventually Spain found a mountain of silver in Bolivia and decided at some point to enter into the galleon trade which was silver shipped from Acapulco in Baja California in exchange for Chinese goods in Manila which were shipped back to Mexico. That trade lasted till the early 1800s. After Mexican independence, the Philippines went more into the plantation business - sugar, tobacco and abaca which was used to make shipping rope before synthetic fibers existed. The main business partner of the Philippines for abaca even in Spanish times were the USA. After the Spanish-American war and the USA spreading into Samoa and Hawaii, the USA bought Puerto Rico, Guam and the Philippines from Spain. In addition to buying Filipino sugar, the USA started off huge pineapple plantations in Mindanao - Dole and Del Monte. The USA went heavier on mining than the Spanish who only had very basic equipment and just mined for gold in one place in Camarines Norte. With heavy vehicles etc. they mined the North of Luzon for gold and other places for copper. And had military presence in Asia. I have school friends who lived not too far from the US Clark Air Force base near Angeles. One remembers vividly the B-52s that started on their way across the sea to Vietnam. The Japanese BTW wiped out Clark Air Force Base just a few days after attacking Pearl Harbor in 1942.
Spanish conquered Philippines for our resources and to spread Christianity by sword. Killing people who opposed them.. but the Islamic Region and Datu's (Royal Blood) fought back. Lapu Lapu of Cebu city is the real hero of the Philippines. Rizal is what they teach in school run by the government, but he's not been recognized by historian as National Hero. For many years it's still under discussions.
We are not Strong Country when it comes in Military Power but if theres Country who needs help for Democracy., Philippines are willing to help without hesitation.,

Most famous Koreans forgot how the Filipino soldiers did for the liberation of south Korea form the invasion of communist China, Soviet Union and North Korea with those mockery they talked about the Filipinos hurting my heart and souls which made me feel hated to their ungratefulness.
@@TripTipsPodcast most of the time it's okay to forget as long as respect is still there but Koreans are so high-headed and hypocrite tend to mock and belittling Filipinos not knowing and thinking that Filipinos are more resident and flexible then those who did mock us. For example; Koreans spend more years to create and produce a talent/k-pop but in the Philippines no need to train only to foolish their talents. Now, the world is evolving for the Filipinos Korean talent company is scouting talents to be K-Pop in the Philippines; SB19, Hori7on and more talents are producing Filipinos to be part of K-pop not only that Filipino can speak Koreans in bit of time meaning Filipinos are adaptable to anything. Hypocrite people underestimated Filipinos because of our economic status without thinking the world is evolving everything is possible now Korea is rich country before it's poor now the Philippines is regaining it's former glory. There's a verse in the bible "whoever lift himself/herself on high God will put them down; whoever put himself/herself down God will lift them high. Time will come that the Philippines will become rich with good leadership, resilient Filipinos and with God's help the Philippines will definitely reach its goal economically.
Better to watch the history of Battle of Yultong the story how 1000 Filipino soldiers defeated how many thousands of Chinese soldiers. It was an amazing story
We only 900 soldier from Philippines while 40,000 the enemy at end we win in a battle so no wonder Douglas Mc. Arthur army from USA wants 20,000 soldiers from us to concord the World
"comfort women" - the general term used to describe women from countries occupied by the japan to use as sex slaves for its soldiers. they were not nurses. there were forcibly taken against their will and subjected to sex slavery. some are paid with goods (rice, rations, security pass, etc.), most were not. this happened until the end of the war. japan never recognized the use of other country's women as "comfort women" and never apologized for it.
The philippines was controlled by the spaniards for over 300 yrs.. then the Americans.. then the Japanese and then the Americans came back led by McArthur and liberated us from japanese occupation.. afterwards came korean war where the filipino soldiers helped them be liberated too.. We were colonize by Spain for 333 years thats why most of our name is Latin, then colonize briefly by the British, and American and the Japanese ... so if you come here in the Philippines you will see the diversity in Feature, Languages, Food, Culture ... not all Filipinos are brown haha, we can't even speak in our language fluently, there is always a spanish and english in most of our sentence.
The Philippines are the richest with all the naturals resources that's why rich countries come to conquer it.. we may be a small country but we're richer that other 1st world countries when it comes to natural resources
(Comfort woman)Some women were killed on sight and others were raped, beaten, and forced to become sex slaves. Much of the book showcases the words of the people who lived through this period..
Thank you for recognizing the sacrifices of the Filipino soldiers (under the UN SEATO) in defending Korea against the invading China and North Korea. When the command was given to the UN forces to retreat, only the Filipinos stood their ground to defended the peninsula that they are protecting. Lots of Chinese and north Korean were defeated in that war. When the commanding general arrived in the area he was surprised to see that there were Filipino soldiers in the area. Just look it up what Gen. Mac Arthur said during that battle.
That is what im saying about Duterte not letting the US to intervene with the Philippines policy , he does not want war … He want to stand strong and change Philippines but his term as President was not enough unless the next successor will continue the advocacy 😇❤️peace to all , Pls dont bash me its just my own opinion and understanding 🙏
Spanish is looking for Moluccas, spice island which is actually in Indonesia ….This is the same time the Europe is sailing the world trying to find an ocean path to cut the increasing cost of Asian products (spices, tea, etc.)…same time America was discovered. Magellan was killed ASAP in PH and his crew went back to Spain, making it the 1st voyage that travel around the world. PH is good alternative to Moluccas. Country rich in spices, gold, different rocks, pearl and many more.

Most Koreans don't know about this part of their history. And it's sad when they look down to Filipinos these days.
It's so sad😢.Actually, from their last survey Phil.is including in their most hated country.
True. That is why I don't like Koreans. I already forgave Japanese because they become the most friendliest to filipinos

That’s amazing

Thanks guys for this video, I didn't know that there were Filipino soldiers who gave their lives for Koreans. All I know is, countless American soldiers sacrificed their lives for the Philippines in WW2. That's why we consider Gen. Douglas MacArthur and Pres. Theodore Roosevelt as our HERO. American by blood and Filipino by heart. We salute you guys.
1521 Portuguese Ferdinand Magellan discovered the Philippines for Spain when their ship landed in Mactan island, Cebu. He was killed in the Battle of Mactan. Spain sent more expeditions after that and in 1565 conquered the Philippines thru Miguel Lopez de Legaspi & colonized the country until 1898, so we're under the Spanish rule for 333 years before the Americans " freed" us😁
Actually, Magellan was sent by King Philip II of Spain to an expedition to search for the Spice island where ancient traders got their spices, but Magellan mistook Mactan for Spice island and accidentally rediscovering it( 'coz Philippines had long been trading with Chinese and i think Arabs also at the time)🙂
Thanks for the info. 😊

We’re loving the history lessons in the comments 👍👍

This is so horrific and heartbreaking 😞
That’s horrible. 😢💔 I feel so terrible for people who have to live through things like that. God bless her ❤️

Magellan who was a Portuguese who wanted to find an alternate route to India and the spices it had. He found sponsors in the Spanish crown. Along with the promise of an alternate route to the Spice lands, the Spanish crown also wanted to bring Christ to those who do not know Him.

People forget who helped them all the time
@@TripTipsPodcast most of the time it's okay to forget as long as respect is still there but Koreans are so high-headed and hypocrite tend to mock and belittling Filipinos not knowing and thinking that Filipinos are more resident and flexible then those who did mock us. Comfort woman or pleasure woman
So sad 😞

Thanks for the info
The Philippines are the richest with all the naturals resources that's why rich countries come to conquer it.. we may be a small country but we're richer that other 1st world countries when it comes to natural resources
Please react to the battle of Yultong,Korea war❤🙏
👍❤️
(Comfort woman)Some women were killed on sight and others were raped, beaten, and forced to become sex slaves. Much of the book showcases the words of the people who lived through this period..
So sad 😞
Search the history if balingaga bells. Its about the american / Philippines war?
👍❤️
