Also forgot to include Andor in the recording! But included some footage of it at the end.
Pinned this as a comment before I posted the video so not sure why it wasn't showing up.
Trying something new with longer videos on the clips channel. Let me know if you enjoyed this!
I hope you do more longer videos like this in the future. I always enjoyed most of your content but my problem was always that I wished they were longer.
We need to take it seriously for Tales of The Jedi, The Bad Batch, Obi Wan Kenobi and Andor seasons 2-3

i think you were wrong when you said the clone pilot who gets shot down in ep 3, he's CGI. i remember somewhere it saying that, and if you look closely i think you can tell he's CGI. same with his unnamed copilot behind him.
CGI clones in the prequels just look amazing, so beautifully done
In episode 3 maybe, in episode 2 they look too clean.
@@harryshuman9637 Episode 2's climax looks like a video game. People literally deluding themselves now for the prequels. The CGI was acceptable in the 3rd film, but horrid in the prior 2.
@@harryshuman9637 Its also their first time on the "front lines" of the clone wars, makes sense that theyre all shiny and new imo
@@Korijenkins1414 Yeah, people forget that there was a reason why prequels were hated and Lucas wanted to sell the franchise. He really messed them up, and Disney made it much, much worse.
@@chriscrowe11 Of course that would mean they didn't do actual fighting in the boot camp. If you ever did a basic army training, you would know your equipment is anything but clean.
The CGI was and still is incredible. Looks 1000x better than any modern Marvel movie
That's ILM for you
Ironic how people bashed the Prequel trilogy for the overuse of CGI, but now they are now praising it. How the tables have turned; perhaps they weren't ready to see that they were always good.
@@StoogesFan yeah especially the part where Organa was confronted by Appo, the rendering was too good for that time.
@@antpalm9615 been cutting edge since the 1970's/OT
@@StoogesFanthe overuse of cgi especially for the clones is laughable. Like it says a lot that it took as long as it did for us to see a clone trooper that’s an actual guy.
Beyond that the only reason they don’t look horrible is because everything else in almost all the shots they are in are also fake so it isn’t as awful as when it’s a floating head like with Commander Cody
I'm probably in the minority but i prefer the CGI versions more, the colouring looks better to me and the armour looks like it fits better/ less bulky
I agree
I really hate CGI, but everything was done with CGI in Lucas area is much better than any live action thing (like clones) that the disney has done.. The Ahsoka show is the first which almost crosses the line and almost looks as good as the CGI clones, but it is still not perfect.. But in disney area Ahsoka is the first that has believable lightsaber fights and movement at least (and it does not look like a fanmade all the time)
edit: please leave it at 66 like :D
@@marco002the phase 2 clones in ahsoka look really good, otherwise it’s really not that great. The phase one troopers are an awkward blend between animation and live action, Rex has his bicep armor pieces on backwards, his pauldron is way too small and arguably the wrong kind of pauldron anyway. But I’m still happy to see him in live action
Yeah, CGI for me all the way. I like all clones don't get me wrong but they have to be uniform and the live action ones look weird in some shots. Some have backwards armor, on one guy the helmet looks too small, etc.
Fully agree
The Cgi clones are so impressive! If no one told me they were cgi I would've never realised it 👏
that's because the cgi in ROTS is just that good, I never knew the clones were CGI because honestly, they don't look CGI its that good.
Its still noticeable but its good
They are blatantly CGI, you just have terrible perception
@@nazberg445 They're praising CGI, don't be rude.
@@nazberg445 do you like disney star wars?
The fact that none of the clones in the prequels were real and were all cgi still amazes me.
I don't know why but I think cgi works a lot better for the clones, the same way it works better for characters like Master Chief. Live action just comes with so many imperfections that can come across as looking sort of fan-made or plastic that cgi doesn't.
I mean the fact that every clone movement is individually mocapped helps a lot. It's very easy because all of their movements are real, they're not animated by someone, they're all motion captured and then they just rig the models. Even when you see the clones loading into the cruisers, they could have easily just repeated the same animation for most of the clones but if you look, they've been rigorous with their mocapping and lots of the animations are unique to each clone.
It's one of the things that I dislike about like Rebels for example, because most of the movements are so artificial-looking that I just can't really get into it.
Real clone troopers are better on account of reality. You are better immersed in the world and not put off by the almost video-game-cutscene look of the clones. The cgi troopers just looks rather cheap and tacky
I like the fact that they are clean, because they are supposed to be "perfect"
I've always loved the look of the CGI clones. They look so much better and more intimidating
When I was a child, I loved the 501st for some reason. I was a simple man trying to make my way through the "Star Wars" universe at the time. (We also got clones in the Republic Commando game but it doesn't count)
We were all just kids finding our way in the galaxy. Some are still searching for their way
who says republic commando doesnt count? you?
@@umpxfajmzannanyone with half a brain

Not yet.
You skipped Andor
Even if they didn’t have the same height…
The way they marched WAS AWESOME!!!
There was a huge difference between the storm troopers from the same show, the clones really looked like soldiers
@@mewtwo.150 It's possible they where not all clone troopers, just the armor was still the same.
Empire stopped using clones
@@panthir6720okay?
@@Isaacisaperson4677meaning that might be the reason for the height inconsistency they might have already been phasing out the clones and giving the armor to the regular humans
Seeing Captain Rex in Episode 5 made me really excited for some reason. As well as seeing all those clones in the flashback scenes.
I really, *really* want to make my own piece of clone armor and be a Star Wars cosplayer.
I think everyone got excited when live action Captain Rex was seen!
I literally broke the sound barrier!
When I saw him in phase 1 armor in live action, I nutted. That was enough for me.
Same here, I'm exactly 6 ft tall and have the perfect height. I also have pretty long legs and a shorter torso but overall I'm way too skinny hahahh
Please tell me I'm not the only one who prefers the old CGI clones. The live-action ones are fine but the armor looks like literal plastic, especially when you can see it (kinda) falling off in some shots like it did in the new Ahsoka episode. The CGI at least makes it look real and like it fits the wearer, which makes sense since the clones are all literally a single body type.
I agree completely. Clone armor is supposed to be matte white with yellowish undertones not shiny plastic stark white like stormtroopers.
Do you not know about plasteel? Kind of SW fan r u ?
Same here man
100% agree. I think the clones are a bit more slender in the CGI models as well. The live action clones are all well and good but i think the clone troopers from episode 2 & 3 are so burned into our brains that anything that isnt that just seems like a knock off.
Agreef
I love Dee Bradley Baker's work in The Clone Wars and The Bad Batch but boy does it just hit so right to hear Temuera Morrison's voice coming from behind those helmets.
7:50 - While that was the likely technical reason, combat spacing is a real tactic to protect against explosive ordinances. It's actually better for it.
0:48 "WAS IT TOFU!!?"
Another day, another mem.
Something about how curious he is just kills me. Like whether or not it was tofu is something he absolutely must know, under life and death.
When I was a child, I never realized the Clone troopers in AOTC and ROTS were CGI. I thought always: "Where did they get so many men who are exactly 1,83 meters high?" 😂
When Cody says "Come on. when have I ever let you down?" my Phone was at 66 percent!
YOU SUPOSE TO DESTORY THEAM NOT JOIN THEAM
The troopers not standing together in Ahsoka makes sense in a tactical sense. Soldiers don't group up together, just makes you an easier target. The spacing between them in the scene would actually be incredibly close in real life.
what a load of BULLSHIT when compareing it to clone wars STFU
Now that i am re watching all these clips i can PHYSICALLY see the differences between old school CGI vs new school CGI.
i prefer the old school XD
I'm not gonna lie: I had no idea that anyone else other than Temura Morrison played the older clones in the sequels. The younger versions look so much like him that I'm honestly amazed.
Also: The CGI back then was so good that aside from the group shots on Kamino and the boarding of the troop ships during the end of aotc I didn't know they were CGI and the only times where I ever had a suspicion that something didn't look right was during Yodas command on Geonosis in the commanding station to shoot down the ships and with Yoda AGAIN in Episode 3 on Kashyyyk. Those 2 clones beside him just didn't seem right. But at the time I thought it was improper use of Greenscreen and CGI Yoda being the target for grounded visuals. I had no idea at the time, that all of them were CGI and honestly in SDR you can't tell.
There were actually scenes in the Prequels that looked better on well upscaled DVDs instead of BluRay because the upscaled image still looked more believable than the actual high res native image.
That being said I think most of the scenes the clones still hold up well. I never found them to draw me out of the movies and funnily enough I still meet many people that have no idea the clones weren't actual humans but CGI.
yeah and dont forget the movies came out 2002 and 2005. They where just ahead of the time. I believe strongly that george lucas made the right decision back then to use CGI for the clone army. The CGI of the clones could even be further enhanced if they would have sticked to it. Imagine how they would look today with the CGI of nowdays technology...
Live action Rex is definitely one of my favorite things. He deserves to show up more in live action, either as CGI or an actual actor
Andor! And you actually played a clip from Andor at the very end! 🤣
I was a critic of the obsession with only representing the clones as CGI, but after seeing them in Ahsoka, the Lucas era clones are clearly superior.. In Ahsoka we had overweight clones, short clones, taller clones, it was silly... especially early on in the clone wars they'd all be identical, not just whatever random extra was thoughtlessly put in clone armor waddling around in-shot. Disney just doesn't have the attention to detail, or willingness, to fill background characters properly.
most of those, Overweight clones, thats there actual armor that they themselves built. that's why it still fits but the proportions are off did you really think disney made actual clone armor for extras??? Hell No they went to the 501rst fandom group, and grabbed all the 501rst legion owners they could find.
@@erika_itsumi5141 🤤 the argument being of course, that CGI clone troopers mean uniformity of form, which Clone Troopers would have, being clones, and being clones mere months or even years after their formation.
Forgot to mention the clones in Andor! So I included some footage of them at the end.
Also trying something new with longer videos on the clips channel. Let me know if you enjoyed this! 🕶️
i love Clone Troopers they are so so so cool
4:15 before order 66: standard trooper voice
after order 66: sadistic mandalorian mercenary voice
I liked the CGI clones more than the live action actors. They move and look so much clunkier. the movements are more believable of what a clone trooper moves like in CGI
I think that becomes very apparent in the Ahsoka Series ahhah
When CGI becomes the practical effect
I actually love these Bombastic Clips not so short clips videos, just you talking with footage keep it up!
Clones in Ahsoka could have been hiding the fact that doubles aren't the same height, but also.. Soldiers never travel close together. That's how you get killed.
Episode 3 Clones had some pretty impressive texture work.
They actually have different wear on their paint jobs so they aren’t just complete copy and pasted of one another
7:55 the one absolute legend on the left doing the BF2 sprint.
Fans we got a big issue when we think that CGI is always bad and real props are always better. A good CGI can be also very very cool as seen in Attack of the Clones.
The live action clones have looked very good so far, especially in Ahsoka
I have so many thoughts on this. I love the consistency they have with the clones with live action vs animation. All animated clones and even Boba and Jango Fett on some occasions are Dee Bradley Baker. Danial Logan played kid Boba in live action and Clone Wars. I think he was even adult Boba in Lego Star Wars. Dee was even the clones for Battlefront 2 2017, which was awesome to hear. But all future appearances of the clones and Boba in live action (and a few games) was Temuera Morrison. I love that. It separates them, but not at all too much. It’s a great consistency with media. And with Battlefront 2, new and old, he’s Boba Fett. Connects to the movies and shows, AND separates Boba just enough in game to not just feel like another clone, but truly one of his own, but still connected. Best move they could’ve done to connect all the media together. My thoughts feel scattered with this comment, but you get the idea.
I just love the gag in the Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, where the Emperor says "Execute order 67." and the clones starts to dance. XD
The clones in the prequels are perfection. Phase 2 is amazing
I never knew they were CGI but I also never gave thought to how they would do it without CGI. They made the clones look good!!
Supposedly the old man in Return Of The Jedi was Rex
No. That was Nik Sant.
Ngl - they really did an amazing job casting Bodie - his voice sounds literally like a younger Jango. Too bad he didn’t have a chance to speak as a young clone
The CG clones in the battle of Utapau are beyond perfection in every single way, and are 1000x better than any live action clone will ever be
I will say, the CGI clones were totally fine honestly. It allows for them to truly be clones, all the same size and perfectly copied.
The old CGI armor definitely looks way better, looks like real plastoid and feels very lived in. The later iterations just look too much like plastic and are too shiny imho, like Disney forgot that the clones' armor is supposed to look worn out with a lot of the paint scratched off.
I will allways prefer the old CGI, it looked so fricking good.
They'd better show us longer more intricate scenes with clones in live action at some point. Like full dialogue scenes, putting helmets on and taking them off, Temuera Morrison playing them, and Rex being there along with maybe Cody and some other popular ones
Bro said tommorow Morrison💀
Also the reason why the clones are so spread out is because you dont wanna be grouped up and get a whole team or squad taken out by artillery or explosives
i personally love the look of the CGI clones and prefer them over the live action ones
The cgi looks so much better. The live action armour looks so cheap . Which amazes me since the original live action stormtroopers looked amazing so
I can understand people's complaints about things like Cody's head being weirdly attached, but apart from that the CGI of the clones to me really sells the fact they are clones. Even though those differences between the live action clones are subtle, there's no doubt they are there and easily noticeable.
Honestly hard for me to say if I prefer the CGI or the actual armour because it all looks phenomenal.
fun fact they never did a real clone trooper armor until kenobi's series show up, they used fans 1:1 realistics armor to recreate in the series
Great video, thank you
Clones are so fckin cool
I must say I kinda prefer the CGI clone troopers. I got used to them through the Prequels. ⚪ ⚪ ⚪
The parts in attack of the clones look like something out of the clone wars
man that was a quick ass 8 min, i was just so engrossed in learning more about clone troopers lol
When rex siad: GO GO GO he sounded 55😂😂
I’m not even mad that most of the prequels were cgi because the cgi was REALLY GOOD
Rex was in return of the Jedi at the battle of Endor. First live action appearance of him technically back in 1983, although retroactively canonized.
I love the CGI clones honestly they could have kept using them in several episodes even in flashbacks I didn't really like the fact that used actual cast wearing clone armor cuz they made the Moodle chubbier and different
7:41 The Watsonian explanation would be they're out in the open with no cover and are spreading out to avoid Separtist artillery
I love ❤️ clone troopers
Speaking of soldiers doing clones, former US special forces operators were heavily involved in the making of Republic Commando
Order 66 flashback to balyon gonna happen tomorrow clone trooper
Yeah lol
Temuera was the biggest character of star wars the biggest One Man Army of jango and the entire clone army and man of many faces
4:06 I dunno, they sound pretty much the same. In Episode 2 and 3 hey spoke respectfully to the Jedi because they were high ranking commanders and Cody seemed to genuinely like Obi Wan. But when they were giving out orders and stuff they were always pretty harsh.
The clone scenes in Andor were intense
cgi clones > real acted clones
I got so excited when I saw captain Rex in Ashoka I freaked out and was screaming yes it is great that they finally brought him to life

Tis was TOFU!
The clones killed their god‘s son 💀💀💀
Batlle of geanosis loved it second one in SWTCW
I’m sorry but the cgi clones looks so much better
In the Ahsoka series flashback of Siege of Mandalore....she is slashing the Mandalorians but in The Clone Wars, she only disarms them by either removing their weapons or cutting them in half
The Clone in Obi Wan recognized him. He wasn't calling to anyone else but to Obi Wan. Remember, the 212th and the 501st regularly worked together on missions.
Ahoska was the first live action appearance of Rex. Return of the Jedi was.
I’ll say it. I like the prequel clones better than the new practical ones
does everyone just not notice Vaughn is in the Ahsoka Flashback?
Where?
0:42 dude on the left looks like Neymar LMAO
What about Andor?
0:44 i swear the guy sitting next to him looks like Neymar Jr
Ngl cgi looks wayyy better for the clones than the live action suits. The live action suits look cheap and crappy. The cgi had a superiority feel to the armor design that made them look more elite than stormtroopers.
i had figured for a vast majority of scenes that the clones would be cgi in attack of the clones and revenge of the sith but there were few instances where i was fooled like when the 501st had stopped bail organa from entering the temple and finding out what was going on the close up sure fooled me
When i was kid back then i never realised it was cgi. Meaning that the cgi back then works
I wonder why don’t they use one actor as a clone trooper and then just film him from several angles in several different ways for several different situations and scenes. And just copy him into those scenes. Like they did with the young clone actor in episode 2.
skipped andor
I much prefer the way live action looks. the CG is very cartoony, which i don't mind, but it still looks weird next to live actors (same issue with cg yoda). Some of the clones looking different would never have bothered me really, as long as they looked enough alike that it was clear they started from the same template. Even identical twins don't share every feature into their adulthood. Just look at Cole and Dylan sprouse and how one is taller than the other, and their hair isn't even the same color anymore
Nice
i just realized rexs shoulder ranking armor thing (forgot name) is on the wrong side and wrong kind
One of the biggest missteps of the prequels is the aggressive over-reliance on CGI. There is no reason Cody couldn’t have had practical armor when talking to Obi-Wan in the hangar.
It looked fake at the time and has aged incredibly poorly. CGI can be used to make clones do things they couldn’t do in reality or to fill in background armies, but should never replace things practical effects can do in such high-budget films. George Lucas was impressed by the restrained CGI in Jurassic Park and decided to try out this new toy for himself. He’s an incompetent filmmaker with zero restraint. The only reason the original trilogy was as good as it was is because he was a nobody surrounded by people with more talent than him who were willing to shoot down his worst ideas. He was effectively a god when making the prequels and it shows in the sloppy dialogue, ugly effects, and boring story. He’s a good ideas man and that’s all.
So at andor... the clones were digitally generated? I have noticed that the 212th's Clone Trooper after destroying the crab droid dissapears his back pouches and detonator.
I think it’s wise to say it’s better to have CGI Clones than random actors wearing plastic around their body
i can't believe they made real clones for the new stuff
As for me, cgi clones looks better than life version, the armor, moves, all better and looks more professional I think than cosplay live action...
I don’t think we’ve ever seen the clone army in its entirety at all
you know what i noticed in the grogu flashback? some of the clones are left handed, which wouldn't make sense seeing that there an exact clone of one another which means they shouldn't be left handed, although a possibility is that when being trained they were trained by someone left handed, so that would make sense
