I have ME, and when my husband left me, I then found what I thought was a skin tag in the perianal area. This felt so humiliating, painful and I felt totally ashamed of myself. Over time they spread, enlarged and were very painful. Eventually the GP visited and referred me to a surgeon. After waiting for a couple of months I was seen and he advised surgical removal. This was performed. The biopsy of growths showed that the genital wards had developed into cancer. After a scan; which showed no abnormalities, I was /am followed up by consultant every 5 years. I was told that it was unusual for the warts to turn cancerous, but I found the whole thing humiliating. I was treated very well by all the staff, the embarrassment is due to the nature, and intimate area of body. I am shocked by the number of younger women who have HPV1. Hopefully with the vaccination program that is now underway, others won’t have to go through that. Thank you for producing this program. It is important for people to be aware of what can happen…even if it’s extremely rare.

Thank you for commenting - I have a “rash” in that area that my ObGyn saw, and took a biopsy, which she sent to my dermatologist. These bumps turned out to be negative for all the things they tested for, but I find the rash seems/feels to be spreading. I’m waiting to get in to see my dermatologist to see if there’s anything that can be done. It is very embarrassing, and I have no idea why this would start this late in life (I’m in my 70’s).

Dear MsMaid, thank you so much for posting this comment.
It is very brave of you especially as you say you have found it a very humilating, painful and shameful experience 😞 Your comment here could easily encourage other young ladies to see their GP over being emarrassed !
You really do have NOTHING to feel humiliated or shamed about and I know it is so much easier for me to say this than for you to deal with.
You have done nothing to feel like this, you have not caused this condition on yourself. You are one of the unlucky people this has happened too. Thank gooness you were proactive and were seen and treated quickly and are monitered from now onwards.
One of my friends had cervical cancer and I am sure it was caused by the same virus. She was treated very well and has been clear for many years now 🙂
Like you say now that the vaccination program is in place this will stop so many people from suffering as you have AND things are improving year on at agood pace.
I am sorry you also suffer from ME. Do you ever think the two could be linked in some way ? I think chronic illness's like ME dampen down our immune system so virus impact are more severley than someone whom is not chronically poorly.
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, CFS and psoratic arthritis around 9 years ago (after being in a 2 month long coma) - apparently fibro can be caused by a traumatic event such as a car accident etc..and I know my immune system is now very weak 😞
I hope your days are the best they can be and that you have friends and family around/near to you 🙂
Take Care and Best Wishes x

Among the many, many things I appreciate about you Dr Emma is that you continue to help normalize problems in the genitalia for both men and women. Although problems are more common than is usually discussed they are much more common than many people realize.
The sense of embarrassment and therefore lack of effective care is something that patients and sometimes practitioners can shy away from. After all, feelings around “down there” are usually extraordinarily complicated.
In earlier videos several people have been willing to show problems in their genital areas I’m quite sure that their willingness to share their problems came about both because of the doctor’s empathy and the patient’s desire to help others, to give people hope.
I’m not here to disparage Dr Pimple Popper at all. She is a generous and empathetic soul. Perhaps it’s cultural but it’s always been striking to me how these two amazing and knowledgeable women present.
I’ll continue to enjoy watching both channels and respecting what they have to offer.

When I get cold sores on my lips, also known as Herpes simplex I, it often reoccur every 3-4 mos. After a few years of this, my doctor finally subscribed an antiviral pills to be taken when a first sign crops up. After a couple of doses, it all stopped. I haven’t got one eruption since. AFAIK herpes cannot be “cured.” The virus lies dormant until triggered. During an outbreak I was prescribed a combination package of two large tablets and a small tube of topical cream. I haven’t had an outbreak since but I don’t consider it cured, only dormant for whatever reason which is a great blessing! (I saw my regular GP for this.)

Genital warts are terrible. I knew someone years ago who had three separate strains of them. He had been most promiscuous in his early 20s, not careful about partners or using condoms and a visitor of sex workers. He did not tell new girlfriends. Which I thought abhorrent- he thought he should only say when he had “a flare up”. Goodness knows how many women he gave them to. So irresponsible 😢

I got severe genetic herpes at 18 and had frequent recurrences for most of the years of my marriage. I got it from my first boyfriend, before AIDS, so we were not taught to use a condom except to prevent pregnancy. Maybe that was growing up in Ohio in the early 70’s. I was taking almost continuous valcyclovir and using a tube of acyclovir a day. Incredibly painful, bad for our sex life. Finally got through a prolonged menopause and a divorce ( much less stress life living alone), and I almost never have problems now. I have not told my sons, ( I’ve never told anyone but my husband) but I sure taught them to ALWAYS use a condom.

I really hope that when she has relations with her husband that he wears a condom because she still has the virus in her body and he will get it also and what a terrible devastation
for him to contract this virus as well just because they think she is cured! I Unfortunately, this kind lady didn’t get genital warts from Lupus , that illness just brought out the condition and had it flare up. Her warts are from either HPV or Herpes which are sexually transmitted to the genitalia area .
Dr. Emma was so kind and patient and professional to help her and give her the dignity so she would not not feel bad and also helped her tremendously in that condition because it was a bad situation and bad flare up 😮. Must have been very difficult and painful.
Please 🙏 everyone wear protection when you are going to have sex !!!

There is NO kind of protection against HPV except vaccination BEFORE being exposed -
aka having ANY type of sex - including petting.
HPV (the virus that creates those warts) is not delivered via semen or body fluid - it is transfer from wart to skin.
And as you heard… they are not only inside the vagina or in/on the penis.

Activate your Adaptive Immune System. The warts drop off within a week once your Adaptive Immune System recognises the papilloma virus The virus releases signals to prevent your Adaptive Immune System seeing it.
You have another Immune System The Inmate Immune System. Whenever you get a break on your skin the Innate Immune System activates. So make a smsll lesion on the wart, wart freeze spray is good, but do not temove the wart as you want the Innate Immune system to respond and cause an inflammation.
Keep causing ithe small lesion and eventually your Adaptive Immune System will within a week or so detect the wart virus. You have now activated both of your Immune systems and soon be virus free.

This is a great programme and very informative.., however much I like Dr Emma, I think she should stop watching American programmes...In one episode she was talking to a woman about the skin under her breast "area". If it's under the breast then that's it. NO AREA. Think about it! its nonsense, and just another base Americanism. Americans are NOT English and as such should learn the correct way to speak, and stop annihilating our language and for English people to stop picking up the base Americanism's. What next===of of of's, gottens, and putting isms and ology at the end of words and one of the daftest--- "definitely think", This rubbish talk is ruining our programmes, NO AREAS please...Otherwise a great programme and my heart goes out to all those who have problems with their skin, it must be an hourly fight for normality.

    • @erinkinsella91
      @erinkinsella91 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

What the hell are you on about? The " under her breast area" makes complete sense, theres a whole area of skin under the breast.....like if you have big boobs then you have a way bigger area under the breast. Thats not an American thing you're just finding things to be annoyed about.
