Boxcutter is an addon that is paid for. Its worth ever penny in my mind but it depends how much you intend on using Blender. It's typically bought with Hard Ops in a bundle and it's pretty much one of the main "go to" add ons for hard surface modelling. You can find the bundle here if you're interested: blendermarket.com/products/hard-ops--boxcutter-ultimate-bundle/?ref=834
@kelihhhhh3092 I mean only if you either: - You don't want to get the add on - You don't know how to complete simple boolean functions which can be done without the add on but just take a bit longer so using the add on makes it faster to show/demonstrate. If this is the case then yes this video may be useless to you but that seems like it is because you're not yet at the skill level to access it. Unfortunately I can't make every video suitable for every skill level; some have to be beginner, some need to be intermediate and some need to be advanced.
How do you make it so the object always has a bevelled look even when there isn't a modifier for it? and how is your default mesh always that cool looking red? The video is great feel like I learn a lot each time!!
question so simple it could go on any video: why not apply 'all transforms' instead of apply scale or rotation in object mode, whatever was done? it's a catch all and I've never saw an instance where someone would want to apply one but not the other.
Great question 👍🏻 I'll add it to the list for videos but the basic answer is that it can be helpful to maintain one, especially the rotation. It allows you to manipulate along the local axis not just the global one, which can be really vital for some shape changes you might want to make.
I had originally planned to do a the different parts each in their own video ("to avoid any imperial entanglements") but the first video on the hand remains one of my lowest viewed videos so it didn't seem like there was the interest for it. You can see the video here if you want to check that one out: th-cam.com/video/g-IPvEyS7qQ/w-d-xo.html
@@ArtisansofVaul oh I saw that video. Always wondered what was next. Well all your videos are VERY helpful. Hopefully we can get a helmet space marine tutorial soon Thanks for everything you do brotha 💪
@Spicy.032 No problem and thanks so much! People are about to be voting on the Patreon what they want to see more of so I'll see what they come up with.
No it's meant to be more intermediate in level. But I have videos that go through most of the elements more slowly. But most of the videos making complex objects need to be more intermediate or they would have to be a lot longer. I do have this playlist which is designed for beginners: th-cam.com/play/PLnqmLZKRm5CYlRZ6rjHT_eUKcJVC9FFhv.html&si=3pAuKaXP57qGYWBs
Thank you for showing and mentioning the key binds, as a beginner I like to go at specific points in the video to help my own projects.
No problem. Glad it's helpful with what you're working on!
This is fantastic knowledge to have, especially the geometry nodes info.
Thanks. I've been wondering of I should show how these integrate together and it seemed a good video to include it in.
Not enough like buttons for this vid. Awesome work!
😅 Thanks 👍🏻
This helmet is great, and so is the tutorial! Thanks Vaul 🤙🏻
No problem, glad the video is being enjoyed 😁👌
How did you make the cube red/brown by default?
I've got a video on the settings here and it should also say how to then make it the default: th-cam.com/video/orqt8Fw7q8o/w-d-xo.html
@@ArtisansofVaul Thanks! I'm amazed by the speed of your response, kudos!
Hi, I was wondering if you could do another video making the bascinet helmet? Thanks a lot
That could be fun. I've got quite a list at the moment but I'll add it to it for the future 👍🏻
How do you start with the red colored cube? How do I get there?
@@orvos1459 I've got a video covering that here 😁 th-cam.com/video/orqt8Fw7q8o/w-d-xo.html

hey is the box cutter a addon I have to enable? I cant access it and I cant find it in the preferences list

Its a few tweaks in the viewport settings. I've got a video on it here if you're interested: th-cam.com/video/GcNHZILKl3I/w-d-xo.html
i dont get how to curved the edges, im following the first part of your tutorial to a t but the edges wont curve no matter what
Do you mean the bevelling? You use the ctrl and b keys at the same time and move your mouse away from the object to enlarge the bevel.
when i cut it does not fill the empty spot 4: 36
@shodan2002 Sorry I'm not sure what you mean by "not-fill" could you find me on Instagram and send an image?

Great work! Relies on box cutter which is a paid addon?
It is a paid for addon. You could of course do all the boolean operations without using boxcutter.
Tbh this is giving me a few ideas on how to model some things I've been stumped on
That's great to hear 😁
is that a 30k dark angels helmet? it looks cool
I just watched the rest and its a medieval knight helmet ,still cool
I mean they are pretty interchangeable 😅
Wonder if you would do a lengthy tutorial on how to model a space marine 💪

@SirJad_ Haha. Yeah. Would have been a lot more clickbait though as it isn't really a space marine 😅
Deus Vult!!!
Thanks.
I'm assuming this isn't really for people new to blender because i have no idea how you do 90% of what's going on in the video
