Lots of fun. Our teacher told us to read a book by George Amado, Os Pastores da Noite ... I traveled to Brasil and went to see the Pelourinho (mentioned in the book), stayed at the Hotel do Carmo, former convent, saw a Capoeira, bought an LP of Jair Rodriguez that had a song I loved so much ... had a great week there. Love to watch yr videos, you're a couple who traveled a lot, that's how you have an open mind - and that house is going to be fabulous 😃

How does that "water level" thingy with the tube actually work? And I'm amazed at the skills of these builders. It looks like they're "manana manana", but they actually work quite fast...they look so chill and relaxed! Awesome job again, Dan & Meraid!
The principal with the water level is that Water will always find its own level. If you place a mark on a wall where you need to measure everything to. Then, one person stays with the mark and the other goes to the next point to place another reference point. When the person at the first mark has the water level with the mark, they call it out and the other person makes a line which is equal to the first. It works in places you can’t easily use a lazer lever or a spirit level such as around corners and through walls. I’m not sure if this is a good explanation but my dad taught it to me when I was a child and I was delighted to see it being used here too. It’s been a while since I made this video and now I’m hoping that this question is not about the little siphon that I made to drain the water from under the veranda. If so let me know 😊

Like a time warp going back 50+ years the way they build. Almost no modern tools, no battery powered equipment, no lasers. Just lots of back-breaking labor. Poor buggers.
Who is the boss of your builders? Have they worked together for many years? Are they related or just good mates? Do they specialize in restoring old buildings? The “kid” should have a body builder’s muscles from all that heavy lifting.
That is one sturdy floor. Seems a bit overkill to put down the concrete blocks then pour over cement! Used to seeing the blocks forming a flat floor as time saving and easier.
i have an other ideia you would make a very nice act rice for making movie,,,,,, when you said would you imagine when this is all cover with wooden beams you have the know how ,,,know how to introduce the staff before it came lol weever I said. so

Great one. But as an old mason who s done that all of his life, I d have chosen a wooden construction made of these doka beams cause I do not like concrete anymore. Anyway looks perfect.

Well what an episode that was, loved and felt with you Meraid. Your emotions and happiness at the process of the building finally happening. And what a team of builders you have. Coen and I had our doubts at the beginning, but they are amazing and also a joy to watch. It was a pity that Dan wasn't with you for the big event, but the progress that he would have seen when he returned home would have certainly impressed him. Why do builders always build in the rainy season? It's dry 9 months of the year, but, no, they build in the 3 months it pours.n😂
That is one sturdy floor. Seems a bit overkill to put down the concrete blocks then pour over cement! Used to seeing the blocks forming a flat floor as time saving and easier.
