I’m loling when you share that you’re using your iPad until you get your phone back (but so sorry about the delay on that!). Only because my husband has used his iPad mini for 7 years to replace a cellphone, and uses a Google voice number & iCloud to use it as “cell phone”. He loves it since it is also his work device and uses it for management notes and docs on the go.
Me, on the other hand, I prefer my pocket sized device. He’s trying to convert me over through 😂

Dear Jess, you have no what difference you make in the lives you touch at this very moment. I get ready with you, watch old videos during my planning periods, wind down with you in the evening, listen while taking a relaxing bath, etc. You are like family! You have helped me rediscover who I am. I laugh when you laugh. Cry when you cry. But what you buy! 🤣🤷‍♀️ But more importantly, I listen and internalize things you have said and have finally started to like who I am. It’s been 52 years in the making and a daily struggle with low self esteem. I want to be you when I grow up! ❤️🤣 Never stop being who you are, for you mean so much to so many. Hugs and love! Jessica! I get sad around Christmas because my Daddy passed at a young age of colon cancer after New Years, and it was devastating to me. I mean I was crushed, unraveled, thought I couldn't go on. BUT NOW; I go on because I know that he's up there cheering me on, and that he wants me to be happy. But some days are melancholy and others, I just fight thru it, to celebrate the birth of Jesus!

Yes, books! I love to read, but I would much prefer to hear from you talking about books in a coffee chat format, where it's like a friend recommending them, rather than hearing from someone who only talks about books and it's difficult to tell if their recommendations would even apply.

I'm 46yrs old and I had a wonderful childhood. My mom made Christmas so magical! But, as a little girl on Christmas Day night, I would lie on the floor in front of the Christmas tree looking at all of my toys and cry. The reason why is that I was sad it was over. The build up to Christmas is so exciting and I got extremely sad when it was over.

@jazlynmcneal when I was old enough to know about Santa, about two weeks before Christmas she would leave some candy and a note from one of Santa's elves in front of the Christmastree. The letter said that Santa sends his elves out to check and see if the kids are being good. She also took poly fil quilt batting and tore it into small pieces and placed it on my bedroom floor. It was supposed to be fur that had fallen off Santa's suit. Then their was always a letter from Santa next to the empty plate of cookies I left for him. I'm sure there are more things, but that's what is popping into my head right now. Thank you for asking. She passed away almost 2yrs ago and it's been nice reminiscing.

I don’t remember where but a quote or idea I heard once was “on days you only have 30% and you gave 30%. You still gave a 100% of what you could give”. That has really helped me realize I can only do my best and that looks different everyday.

Just a little tip from a Disney cast member (for everyone, not just Jess): if you lose something valuable and don’t find it by retracing your steps, always check guest relations. Check multiple times. Check before you leave at the end of the day. Call them or go back later if possible. When we have lost and found items that aren’t claimed, we send them to the lost and found at GR. If it’s something important like a phone, wallet, credit card, medical device/medication, etc. it’ll get sent up there within the hour, but even if it’s not, it will be sent there by the end of the day. So, totally worth it to check and then check again later. I have to say, reuniting people with their lost items feels like an art form for us at disney. So glad they found your phone, Jess!

Your parenting advice for giving as much as you can offer at the moment is so spot on. I’m a SAHM and sub once a week and when my husband gets home from work, I’m like S.O.S. sometimes and other times I’m like “I got it. Take a nap. Go for a run, the sauna. Whatever you need to do.” But if we try to set too many roles, it doesn’t work in the long run.

Any sadness I feel during the holidays comes from missing loved ones who have passed. My dad died in 2011, father-in-law in 2013 and my precious mother-in-law just this past May. We still have my mom and I spend a lot of time with her, so that helps. She is 83 so I'm trying to create lots of memories with her. Using Story worth that you turned me onto 2 years ago.

OK Jessica, let’s get this straight. You can speak about crap covered in chocolate with colored sprinkles on your channel and I will watch the whole video. I love watching you and your family. Yes I will be interested in book reads as well. Enjoy your weather here in Florida, we’re still in the 80s. And yes I also go through those sad holiday blues. Interesting because never really paid attention to them or realized it happens. I thinks it’s the calm after the storm when we try to rush into all the holiday celebrations and purchases and dividing ourselves between families and celebrations. I think this is why January for me not only marks a new year with goals but it’s a refresh and restart button. And last…… please please don’t ever stop TH-cam, I’ve been watching your videos since the beginning of your channel when Tyler and you looked like babies in the Q&A. I have many Geometry dish towels because of your recommendation many videos ago. I like them a lot. I just got 4 Christmas ones. Two of which went to my adult daughter. She likes them too. Sometimes when my fingertips are a little dry, they stick to the fabric kind of like microfiber. That "sets my teeth on edge". But it doesn't keep me from using then.

Comparison is the thief of joy, and I feel like there is a lot of comparison around the holidays. Decorations, financial wellbeing, gifts, family dynamics, time off from work, climate, celebrations, etc. People literally compare everything, and it’s intensified this time of year. I’m guilty of it, but I’m really really trying to change that. Plus, the build up, and the emotions that come along with it, only to have it end quickly. So many emotions after Halloween!

And they really do wash extremely well, and I love how well they absorb. The ones I originally bought still look great, and they have been put through the wringer! I’ve always had that sadness around the holidays. And I could never pinpoint to where the feeling stems from.
I’ve celebrated only with family, only with friends, both, and yet there was always this sadness.
I’ve come to realize that my sadness came from
    1) unrealistic expectations. At the end of the day, NYE and Christmas are just days. They are supposed to be fun, but in reality they can turn out awful, just like any other day. I’d love to experience this Disney-like magic on the nye, but that’s unrealistic
    2) I was putting too much work and stress on myself. I tried to give everyone the perfect gift, not to forget anyone while congratulating, have the best food on the table, etc etc etc. and boy did it stress me out! Kinda hard to experience joy and magic when you running around like a hamster in a wheel through all December so when the holidays come, you are already exhausted.
So this year I’m letting it all go! All the expectations of myself and from others. I’m passively trying to make plans but I’m not set on anything. I’ve let go of trying to find the perfect gifts and will just settle on something cute but not perfect. I’m asking for friends to bring one of their fav dishes on the day so I’m not the only one cooking. I probably won’t even decorate, aside from a couple wreaths here and there.
And let me tell you, I’m so calm. And for the first time ever I don’t feel this sadness!
I’m excited about the holidays and I’m looking forward to see everyone! It’s so nice!
So my question to whoever feels this pre-holiday sadness, are you putting to much in yourself? Do you feel the need to do everything “perfect” but deep down know that it’s impossible? Well, be like me, let it all go! (Well maybe not all, but you know, in a normal amount) you’ll feel lighter and brighter, I promise. Take care of yourself first this year, and see if it has any effect on this sadness. It’s worth to try, isn’t it?

I do! I always get sad when christmas is over, n i see people taking their decorations down christmas night and the day after. I remember crying when i was little because my mom took out tree down. I just love the season of all the fun, and I just dont understand y people are in such a hurry to get rid of it. I always have my tree up until mid to end of January. I love the atmosphere of it all.

The Disney story girl I FELT that in my soul. FELT it and definitely have those moments myself. As a SAHM and have been a WFHM it’s hard hard either way. Parenting is tough and I often feel myself slide into a negative mindset and am TERRIBLE at asking for help. And having to ask even. So totally get it

The fact that you're a public figure and a social media influencer doesn't cancel the fact that you're a human being. We ALL have our moments, and especially as a mom of 2 myself, I could imagine the situation you were in down to every detail and to how you must've been feeling. Please don't worry about people judging you. The fact that you're a "real" person and super down to earth, is actually the reason why I watch you and enjoy every single one of your videos.
Thank you for what you do and what you share. You always make me feel I'm not alone in my feelings and thoughts. And that's a huge thing you might be doing for others without even realizing.

You are spot on about the holiday blues. My mother also remarks that I always get sick at the holidays and have since a child, because I was so excited to the weeks building up to it that I wore myself down. Now I get sad thinking back to Christmas of the past and those we used to spend it with. Even things as far as smells of Christmas dinners at my grandparents, Santa making a special appearance, the Christmas program we used to have before opening gifts all make me long for the past. How I wish my children could have experienced those special times with so much family who are no longer here. How I’d love to send your family a Christmas gift if you can include your PO Box. You would LOVE what we are giving our girls. Tickets to see Sweeney Todd on Broadway for Josh Grobans final shows. A dear friend of mine from growing up does makeup on Broadway and is going to go with them! He used to do Neil Patrick Harris’ makeup and wigs for Hedwig and the Angry Inch. If you only lived closer!!!! Miss seeing your precious girls. Feel like they are my own nieces. Your family has become part of mine. Love you all!! Susan in Maryland

For Christmas stress: ask your kids to help you out (and let go of any hopes for perfection)! My kids love baking and cooking, they can set the table, decorate, clean things, put away laundry… kids sure can make mess but they can help to tidy it up too. I have 10 kids, ages 18 months to 13 years. It’s a lot, but they want to have fun and they love you so they want to help you have fun too 😊 have a happy Advent and a Merry Christmas!

So much of Christmas can elicit periods of wistfulness or sadness. The music can be emotional, the commercials about family, togetherness, loneliness, coming home for the holidays, etc. can make you sad. Not to mention the experience of loss. All of these of course are adult things. Also, some of us wonder why we don't have the "christmas spirit" and wonder why. There are so many thoughts and emotions attached to Christmas.

I get that sadness around the holidays a lot too, and have for a long time, and I'm getting ready to turn 49. It could just be random or it could be seasonal depression or seasonal affective disorder otherwise known as SAD which I have officially been diagnosed with. What has really helped me is doing 30 minutes of light therapy in the mornings with a light therapy lamp. I've been doing that going on 3 years now, I believe, and it has made a huge difference. So that's something to consider if you go thru that a lot around this time of year.

I feel the let down feeling from the holidays, I just feel that I work so hard for all the gift buying for my family and his family and our children and now our grandchildren and usually his and mine, I plan the food, build the menu, buy the food, cook for days, and in just a few minutes it’s over. And I feel dejected. All that work, planning, wrapping, buying, and the open in 5 minutes and then go off to their rooms and stay there all day. My husband watches sports the whole time he’s off, I am so tired of sports at that time, I just go to bed. And sleep.,we don’t do any fun activities while we’re off from work. So I start my anti-depressive meds thru December, January, and February. Huge help.

A few thoughts on division of labor and parenting. Brutal honesty here.
My husband and I don’t have the goal of 50/50 in our house. I am home way more than he is, so it just feels impossible. I have also found that “keeping score” of who has done what amount of work puts me in a bad mood. My score always seems higher and I can wind up feeling resentful. I much prefer looking at my work as “how I chose to serve my family today.”This puts me in a more positive mindset (proud of my efforts) and helps me shift to giving attention to how I’m feeling and what needs to happen for me to “recharge.”
I also struggle with being a bit of a control freak. I usually want things done in a specific way (especially when it comes to cleaning and laundry). Basically, I’m having to learn to let go of some things and make room for my husband to help. I am a big work in progress. 😉
We focus a lot on communication. Making sure to say aloud when we are feeling low energy or burnt out and trouble-shoot the rest of our day and/or next day’s plan from there. This applies to housework and parenting.
One of my husband’s big parenting shticks is wanting our kids to know that he is just as capable of caring for them as I am. Not every problem needs to be laid at Mama’s feet and “we can make time for Mama to rest.”

I definitely don’t get sad. There is so much for me to be grateful and thankful for!! Seeing Christmas through my 6 year old and 14 year old daughters eyes is just magical! They are my reasons for decorating and doing all the Christmas stuff! It makes my heart feel so good. Also just donating to toy drives and little acts of kindness and smile for no reason to strangers I do extra these times of the year because my mom does get down and depressed and I can’t stand to be around her so miserable. I just couldn’t live life like that. I have went from being a drug addict about to loose my kids to living in a homeless shelter to now about to buy my first ever dream home. Dreams do come true❤ merry Christmas everyone

Yes I remember crying in my closet on Christmas as a child. To be honest, some was gift disappointment. We did not have a lot of money and there were 6 of us kids in my family. My mom often got me random things I wasn’t so interested in and I felt disappointed. Maybe that’s materialistic of me, but I was a kid! I know it was also the sadness of Christmas being over. As an adult I’ve felt sad during holidays because of missing people and old traditions that I can no longer be around/do because we moved across the country.

The moisturizing nights, I use a hyaluronic acid serum. On the exfoliating night, I use the Paula’s Choice BHA exfoliator. On the retinol night, I use my retinol product followed by my usual night moisturizer. The two nights between retinol and exfoliating has been great and I haven’t had any peeling or side effects.
