    I read a long time ago, sailors going on a voyage could get unwashed eggs and they would last for weeks unrefrigerated. This might be a great tip for off grid folks who don't have much power for refrigeration.

    My son makes fun of me for saying warshing. I couldn't figure out where it comes from because I'm not from the south, I live in Indiana. Born and raised. However in my town we have tons of southerners. A lot of them migrated for jobs a long time ago so I think there's a little southern influence. I love southerners so I take it as a compliment. Love it!

  • @rootsrocksfeathers1975
    @rootsrocksfeathers1975 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I guess mine are pretty clean because we don't allow ours out if it's really rainy/snowy. Our girls are mostly ancient, as in 10-13 years old, and arthritic (so are some of the roosters) so they can't go out in inclement weather. Of course, poopy eggs would be washed, but if they look clean, I just plop then in a carton. Right now, only three are laying so there ain't much to put *in* a carton right now!

    Here in north Tx. We’ve had 9 kinds of heck! My chickens are fairing better than the cattle it seems.🐔
    They’ve stayed in their coop inside the cattle barns kept laying thru it all! I even switched them to a feeder full of corn even. I was surprised every chicken has layed every day👍🏻❤️
    The cattle tanks froze over so bad I couldn’t crack edges with a axe though. 8 days now.. in my lifetime I’ve never seen our thermometers at 0* or below. Ever.. now I have
    I do have to get to my eggs before they freeze though😳🐔. A few have busted though then when next chicken gets on nest they muck everything up. Some nasty looking eggs thru this all. I’m heating buckets of water to give them thawed water though. I keep a 50 gallon drum with spigget in my garage with heating & moving blankets on it... it worked😳😳
    We’ve had many power outages here for up to 2-3 days. Keep a large propane heater in house for backup to central heat. (We built in a propane line from a large tank outside.)
    Prayers I was just wondering what it’s like up in Tenn...?

    I love coconut oil (my favorite is Tropical Traditions Gold Label) and unsalted butter in my coffee. For those put off by the oily texture to your coffee if you blend it up with a blender it will foam up and incorporate better. I'm used to drinking oily sinigang (Filipino sour soup and my most favorite food) or Filipino adobo (meat braised in vinegar, soy sauce, water, onion, garlic, ginger, and peppercorns or ground pepper) so I don't mind the oily texture.

    Thanks for the egg info. That was helpful. Butter in your coffee?! I've never seen that, but I guess it's like putting cream in it. I might have to try it! All my country cousins said "warshin". They also called our favorite play spot, an off-shoot of the nearby creek, "the brainch." I was grown before I realized that was a country mispronunciation of branch.

      I'm a hair dresser i am familiar with the dip nails..I was assuming they were gel...but yup that dip will last through all that hard work you do, stronger than gel!! Always look great!!! The dip is basically acrylic but on your natural nails. They paint a base coat and you dip your nail in a powdered color you choose...so no painting...no chipping!! Then top it off to seal on that color...defiant lasts! Hope that info helps!!
