Watching this video today was a life changing event for me! I am a whole foods home cook and know a few things about nutrition. Today I threw away a unopened bottle AND a half used bottle of grapeseed oil, went to the website for real milk and found a close by source for raw milk - spoke directly to this person (on a Sunday), bought a herdshare and start getting raw milk in 3 days. I then purchased Sally's books Nourishing Traditions and Nourishing Broth. I cannot think of a more valuable/informative video that I have watched in a long time! Thank you for this video and I am looking forward to what the future holds in my ongoing endeavors to make the healthiest choices!
Congratulations. Those terrible oils are hidden in so much of our food. I've tried cutting out any snack crackers or chips and store bought bread or frozen potatoes because they normally have the bad oils.
I just made bone broth for the first time about a month ago from some bones from regenerativeivly raised cow. I cooked them in the crockpot for over 24 hours and it completely turned into that thick gelatinous nutrient dense broth. It totally blew my mind to see it even though I’ve been hearing you girls talk about it for a few years. Now I’m totally addicted to making bone broth!
The last time I made chicken bone broth, I forgot to put the feet in. So I simmered the feet separately…. Wow! It was the most gelatinous thing I’ve ever made. Just added the 2 together eventually. Great for our bodies!!
I homeschooled my girls with a curriculum that uses Nourishing Traditions for their high school health class. We are starting younger and using it to teach them how to cook from our garden and our cow in the freezer. My kids all had varying allergies to milk. I spent years struggling to keep up with the dairy free recipes. We found raw milk and they do not have the issues they had. Cooking the closest to Nourishing Traditions as we can has been amazing. I am determined to get it more consistent this summer.
I read nourishing traditions about 17 years ago, and it totally changed my life. I ended up having home births, getting a milk goat in my back yard and rendering my own tallow. People thought i was crazy, but I'm being vindicated now!
I'm this crazy world being called crazy is a compliment! I'm 100% tinfoil hat and I'm more aware and better to protect myself and my family because of it. Blessed be!

I am so happy to see this video with Sally. She & her husband are good people. I've been to her farm. She's wonderful. Also, you should see her chicken tractor. It's an actual coop you can walk in on wheels. Awesome.

All of this makes SO much sense! The conversation about the skim milk and using the butterfat for other ways to make money from one product is similar to the “dead” flour they sell in the stores where they use the healthy parts of the wheat berries to make money by selling it for animal feed or other products. I recently started buying wheat berries and milling my own flour and what a difference!!! I also make bone broth and use non seed oils, and a lot of what was discussed here. Unfortunately my state is one of the places where raw milk is not easily available because of the laws we have here against it. Great podcast, thank you
Well, what a relief to hear somebody back up my eight decades, plus plus of living and chasing raw milk. Of course at my age, we all grow up with raw milk, but when I left the home farm to try very hard to be a part of the bigger world, I just couldn’t get along without my raw milk so/and chased it. But I chased and chased and chased and always and always and always had my milk and butter and cream and whipped cream and buttermilk and LEAF LARD… I was actually able to get that over these decades by asking for leaf lard from a farmer. I did not need to use Crisco Now I have cancer of the breast from just rushing up and down the coast and being a semi traveler, and I have controlled it completely 484 years, but with my own exuding cancer port from my own body that I control my own self with the help of nurses, by continuing on my RAW steak tartar and bone broth and fat fat fat from the real stuff and no one can understand why I did not need chemo therapy or radiation. One thing recommended by Sally for babies first food is egg yolk.( Read about it in Nourishing Babies). My grandchildren all started on that. They need the fat and cholesterol for brain development. They are all very intelligent children!
My daughter did bone broth and grass fed beef, my grandson had issues with eggs until over 14 months. Goat milk/raw, homemade kefir, lamb. He's 2 now, no sugar, corn, rice, flour.
I realized with my milking cow & cheeses, that my kefir fermented with an apple peel & my frozen berries purried together, also took my health even better. Just like Sally's broth did for me.

@15:15.... think of how many people crave "milk" chocolate, which is just flavored fat and sugar. Also, if your "normal" supermarket doesn't carry soup bones/chicken or pig feet, look to your local ethnic markets; I've seen sacks of nothing but chicken feet at one of my local Asian markets, for cheap!

Yeah, dairy isn’t for everyone. My daughter cannot tolerate it in any form except hard, aged cheeses. We use raw grass fed organic dairy and it still doesn’t work for her.
You can still live a happy healthy life. I've heard most people in the world can't tolerate dairy anyway. I'm not lactose intolerant I'm like allergic to some protein in dairy. I bit into a sandwich that had butter on the bun and didn't know it- the bite of food hit my stomach and I knew immediately- I spent the night very very sick. The best thing I ever did for myself is give up cheese forever. It's amazing- I didn't know it was possible to feel good all the time😂. You will be fine. Eat lots of veggies and fruits and what God gave us❤️
Sometimes you can find a "pet milk" supplier. There are also small local producers who sell unhomegenised jersey milk. Yes it's pasteurised but at least there's real cream on top & it tastes really good
The list of ingredients on almond milk is Way longer and more chemical than regular milk which has 2 ingredients on the label milk and vitamin D. Maybe we can enhance our milk to make it better?
You can freeze dry broth. It would be best to cool the broth over night in the fridge, then skim the fat off before adding it to the freeze dry trays to remove as much fat as possible before freeze drying.
What if I can only get raw milk from a conventional dairy farmer and not from “organic, grass fed”? Is that still better than pasteurized? And not dangerous?
Look into Robert F Kennedy Jr for US president 2024. He is talking about these issues and as president he will clean this up and support the small farmer growing healthy food for their communities.
I have been unable to find heavy cream that is not ultra pasturized. It tastes awful. We bought raw milk direct from the dairy when we lived in NE in the 70s. We also had a dairy goat and of course we drank raw. Giving skim to children is a terrible idea. The developing brain needs FAT.
We are currently drinking whole milk from the store and want to go the natural route. Is it ok to just switch directly over to raw milk, quitting store bought cold turkey? Or should we mix it with what we're used to and work over to raw milk over some period of time?
@@MyPeacefulPlace24 thanks,I love Azure,It’s a great company but I work on those drop off days. But I will see if I can order and have it delivered through the mail 🤷♀️🙏thanks 👍

I can eat homemade butter and a little in my coffee I’m not to bad. I really want to change
A naturopath can help you clear the mucous in your intestines so the villi are uncovered and can work properly. 15 years lactose intolerance and terrible runs to enjoying raw milk for the last 8 years and I can even handle pasteurized cheese. Hope this helps. I know how you feel.
If it's from a big box store, it's likely a blend of other oils like canola (a highly processed, and often rancid, flavored oil product). Knowing the source is best.
I've heard that those who are lactose intolerant can drink goat milk. If that is still too reactive, sheep's milk and cheese could be an even better option for you. Also, pasteurized milk denatures the milk and it's proteins creating worse problems for those who are lactose intolerant.
Organic yogurt is better than not, if it has the probiotic active cultures. The difference is between the ideal product, and a processed lower quality product. As evidenced by the recent national cream cheese recall, there are risks with processed foods which simply don't exist in a normal household and fresh milk from a dairy or your own cow.
What is raw cheese? When I make cheese it's always warmed up. So with that considered pasteurized. Even when I make bread it calls for scald milk in some recipes. What about recipes you cook like pudding and custards?
Raw cheese is made from raw milk. Because cheese requires cooking the curds. The cheese making process is dramatically enhanced by starting with raw milk due to it containing all the essential nutrients, enzymes and good bacteria that develops it. You can make cheese with pasteurized milk, too. But that requires adding calcium chloride. Raw milk has it all
Raw cheese is made with raw milk. Milk for cheese making does not get heated to pasteurized temperature. The only time that is done is when you want to be certain only added cultures will be present.

Butter or coconut oil
Avocado Oil works really well 1-1
My daughters call store milk white water 🤣
Know what they mean.
Is olive oil ok? Avacado oil?
Sale of raw milk is illegal here in Australia, and sadly most of us can't have a cow. Is there any way around it?
Can it be sold for “pet consumption?”
Sometimes you can find a "pet milk" supplier. There are also small local producers who sell unhomegenised jersey milk. Yes it's pasteurised but at least there's real cream on top & it tastes really good
What about Made by cow - I purchase that or bio-dynamic organic milk.
Goats
The list of ingredients on almond milk is Way longer and more chemical than regular milk which has 2 ingredients on the label milk and vitamin D.
Maybe we can enhance our milk to make it better?
Is it ok to pressure can the bone broth? Does it change anything?
Yes. More on it here: homesteadingfamily.com/how-to-can-broth/
Can you freeze dry broth?? Does the fat cause it to go rancid??
You can freeze dry broth. It would be best to cool the broth over night in the fridge, then skim the fat off before adding it to the freeze dry trays to remove as much fat as possible before freeze drying.
@@HomesteadingFamilythank you !! I really appreciate the response.
What if I can only get raw milk from a conventional dairy farmer and not from “organic, grass fed”? Is that still better than pasteurized? And not dangerous?
i would say to comptely get rid of seed oils
Look into Robert F Kennedy Jr for US president 2024. He is talking about these issues and as president he will clean this up and support the small farmer growing healthy food for their communities.
❤ I was prone to voting for trump until I started hearing RFK. I feel like he really might be the only good candidate.
We did it cold turkey with no bad effects. I don’t think I’ve heard of anyone needing to do it slowly.
Selling raw milk for human consumption is illegal in Australia :(
Sally do you have a website to buy your raw cheese.?I can’t get any raw milk or cheese here 😢
@@MyPeacefulPlace24 thanks,I love Azure,It’s a great company but I work on those drop off days. But I will see if I can order and have it delivered through the mail 🤷♀️🙏thanks 👍
Do you have any Amish or Mennonite stores or farms in your area? You may be able to get raw cheeses there.
You may still try to contact your azure coordinator…. some are willing to hold onto your foods until you can pick it up.
@@Melshed great idea👍
I was raised with pasteurized milk I tried to switch over and I had the runs constantly running to the washroom is there a way I can get use to the raw milk I’ve tried pasturizing in the instant pot and still have an issue any suggestions to help me get use to raw milk, my husband is fine but was raised on it.
Is Sally ruling out good olive oil?
No, it comes from the fruit, not the seed
If it's from a big box store, it's likely a blend of other oils like canola (a highly processed, and often rancid, flavored oil product). Knowing the source is best.
we stopped heating olive oil, just for cold salads is best
You could freeze-dry your milk and sell it!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I am lactose intolerant and I am using Almond Breeze
I've heard that those who are lactose intolerant can drink goat milk. If that is still too reactive, sheep's milk and cheese could be an even better option for you. Also, pasteurized milk denatures the milk and it's proteins creating worse problems for those who are lactose intolerant.
I wonder how you would do with local raw A2A2 milk?
Pouring filtered water over almonds and leaving overnight gives you the same thing, without other things in there.
If you love almond milk, try to find Elmhurst brand or Califia farms ORGANIC almond milk. Both of those only have two ingredient - almonds and water.
I love organic yogurt and feta cheese from the store - I am guessing this is bad?
Organic yogurt is better than not, if it has the probiotic active cultures. The difference is between the ideal product, and a processed lower quality product. As evidenced by the recent national cream cheese recall, there are risks with processed foods which simply don't exist in a normal household and fresh milk from a dairy or your own cow.
Please don't blame the accountants. We report the results of the operations. It's marketers and greedy CEOs making the decisions.
Whole foods and no processed food and no vaccines is the path to good health.
And that’s why sooo many are so sick nowadays. The latter!!!
Your age + 100 over 90...never heard of that! So BP is suppose to get a little higher as we age I guess 🤷♀️
