Short like the first game, but none the less very impactful in audio, visuals and themes it wants to tell and explore

This is such a beautiful game; besides visuals I loved how they did the audio and subtitles.

I can see how some people are disappointed with the lack of new mechanics and even less gameplay in comparison to the first one, but I enjoyed it almost as much. Visually it's even more stunning and I really liked the story. It was nice to see Senua being more confident, less affected by the voices.
The one thing missing from the original (at least for me) is the sense of novelty, the feeling I'm experiencing something I haven't seen before in a video game, but I guess it's only natural with a sequel.
That being said, if we ever get a Hellblade III, I hope we can finally meet some nice dads, because so far it's been pretty rough in that department...

I wonder how much of that is because it isn't novel anymore like the first one.
It is a fine product on its own.

There's nothing wrong with a linear game, but I think they could've done a better job disguising it. So much of this was literally walking down a path with occasional offshoots to pick up a collectable. That said, the ending was really powerful and it was great to see more of Senua. I was a little afraid at first that she would revert back to how she was in the original game; her father was still there and the other voices still doubt her sometimes. But Senua was so strong throughout. It was so nice seeing her get to interact with some real people too.
I really enjoyed it overall. Maybe just tell the Hiddenfolk to ease up on their trials a bit!

I very much enjoyed your playthrough; the cinematic combat (though the letterbox made the story less intimate for me), overall stunning visual presentation and the psychological storytelling being pros for me. Also it's worth mentioning the soundtrack deserves praise. Imo game music in general is often underappreciated. In this case it added a lot to the authentic atmosphere and emotional weight of certain scenes in the game.
As a viewer some of the exploration segments did drag on a bit. I thought Druth's stories were too obscure and mundane, and sadly, didn't grab my attention enough. I've heard people criticize Hellblade 2 for lacking engaging gameplay (more than the first game) and it being an "on the rails" experience. I understand that sentiment, especially with the game's tone, level design and player involvement, I reckon, not really catering to the general audience.
On another note, I'm pretty sure the image in the main menu; the tattooed hand covering Senua's face in the front, is Thórgestr's. Signifying from the start that he'd be one of the souls she takes with her, who gives her meaning but she didn't manage to save. I also interpreted Thórgestr's vision in the forest as him foreseeing he not only had to continue making Senua suffer (to defeat the last giant) but that he also had to die.

I really enjoyed this. I think this one has a bit more trouble with pacing than the first one, though. Great story and themes, and of course art and sound design... Overall a great ride.

"Intense" would be a weak word to describe the journey: save for calm puzzle sections, it's as real as a videogame can get - almost overwhelming. Enough of an entry rite to stand by the best witchers and fight the men worse than any monsters.
    Welonz, thank you.

What a ride. And the ending: very appropriate in light of today's politics. Thanks for playing this.

I thought this game was interesting but it didn't hit quite as hard as the first Hellblade. The combat was also very watered down compared to the first game. The added characters didn't really impact the story all that much imho. Regardless it was visually stunning and quite a ride. I'm really loving your content. I'm still trying to get through your 70 episode Hades play through. I'll get to the newer stuff soon enough. ^^

Great let's play as usual Welonz. I've only played the first Hellblade myself but this one felt more directionless to me. Whereas the first one had a set goal and it set out to achieve or portray a very close-ended story, it seemed like this one just stuck to the original ideas of confronting the darkness, never being able to escape the darkness, etc, with the menacing voice saying similar things as before. The plot line of the slavers never felt anywhere near as compelling as trying to avenge Dillion and save him from Hel. It never seemed transformative beyond the first one, and it seemed like the combat was a bit bland, with the constant walking as in the first one being a predominant part of the game. I appreciate how Hellblade portrays psychosis, I was just hoping it would offer something more daring than relying on similar formulas as the first one. The cinematic feel was nice and the soundtrack added to the game very nicely I think. Also the reversing of the title with Hellblade II being after Senua's Saga drives me insane lol, especially since the first one was Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice.
Edit: I will add that I appreciate the experience Hellblade gives, and if there's more of Senua's story to be told I hope it doesn't get cut short and Ninja Theory can create their visions for it to the fullest extent.
