I appreciate you for being one of the few channels that includes both Japanese AND Western RPGs.
I honestly appreciate this guy for just playing absolutely everything. AND enjoying everything. Usually people who play everything (reviewers mostly) become cynical and jaded. Jonathan loves everything!
lol I try EVERYTHING
I hope you channel grows quickly. Looking forward to watching many of these videos. Keep up the good work.
Just sat down for lunch and saw bro put out a 30min video. It’s a good day 🔥
Went back and did another playthrough of Cyberpunk after the game got revamped. The game wasn’t too buggy for me when I first played it so I still
enjoyed it but holllllyyy shit was it amazing on my new playthrough. Did all the side quests and really explored the builds and it became one of my favorite games. Genuinely believe the next Cyberpunk will be one of the best games of all time if its like this one but better.
Sadly, it doesn't work that way anymore. These days, developers put out a half completed title, charge full price, and then you get the rest of the game slowly added via updates and dlc 🤷♂️
@@LynxStarAuto dont blame devs dude its the company in productions when a game is rushed its the company the company rushed a cyberpunk game while they were still in like alpha
Hell yeah bro, when I see the totally tubular notification I just know it's going to be some good times !
Nioh's combat is funner than Dark Souls combat, but Dark Souls is overall better cuz it has the best exploration, bosses, enemy variety, and I just like the way Dark Souls looks more. Dark Souls combat is kinda basic, but it kinda works.
Basic? That's like pro gamer basic. Casual and non gamer people would find it complex. Something with basic combat would look like sonic that has auto combos or Streets of Rage
funner aint a word
@@MaxRamos8 that's honestly a great way to looks at it. you are just dodging and hitting, no extra attacks or powers, but the focus of timing and strategy give it some depth.
@@MaxRamos8 It's still basic, we are talking about Action RPG's not simply games. In the same way a quarterstaff is a basic melee weapon. By your logic a quarterstaff is a complex weapon to the average person. The average person can't properly utilize a quarterstaff as a weapon. However, it's still a basic weapon. It in and of itself is simple. Just because it might be easy to use for a "pro" that doesn't make the weapon any less basic when you compare it Nunchucks or even a Mace. You mentioning sonic is like bringing an AK into a conversation about melee weapons. For an *Action* game Dark Souls combat is basic. It might not be easy to beat the game but that doesn't make the core gameplay any less simple. When you compare it to Nioh it's like comparing a stick to a twinblade. Nioh's combat has way more than Dark Souls(that doesn't make it any better or worse). If a casual/non gamer finds DS combat complex then Nioh's combat would be well above convoluted. In reality DS is basic, LoP or BB is complex and Nioh is convoluted.
@@educampsrocksit is now 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Fallout 4 was easily my favorite fallout game. Combat is sooo addicting and I love how they made looting so much easier... To the point that I can't go back to fallout 3 or NV.
Great video!
Couldn't agree more on the top 2!
concrete. also, I'd switch Nioh 2 with Lies of P. I'd put KH3 higher because of how great ReMIND is.
Xenoblade chronicles trilogy are my absolutely one of the best story ever told. Many people already said these games are shit because it is anime. Man it is sad they miss these gems, i really love these stories even more than RDR2 and TLOU.
By the way i don't think you'll love Xenoblade 2 DLC because the game force you to do a ton of side quest in order to get to final dungeon. But Xenoblade 3 DLC fixes this issue and the ending explained what is really happened on the Base game's ending. They are worth a try if you want a complete experience.
I definitely recommend Ys 8 and 9. They're my third and fourth favorite Ys games, respectively, after The Oath in Felghana and Origin. I'm not sure if it counts since it's a remaster of a PS2 game, but Odin Sphere Leifthrasir is another spectacular Action JRPG that I can't recommend enough.
Fallout 4 is actually on sale on steam at the moment, I picked it up with all the DLC
I love RPGs I just don’t have time to play more than one or two a year and it’s been all turn based lately. I really want to try the xenoblade chronicles games. I’ll try to make a concrete plan to play them
I'd argue Monster Hunter is better as a single player game for the same reasons soloing bosses in Souls games feels better than summoning people or NPCs. It's a dance between you and the monster. No weird unpredictable aggro, no getting hit by a tail because the monster attacked someone else. You can predict what the monster will do and you get a lot better as a player.
Concrete. Very surprised Kingdom Come: Deliverance didn't make the list. Out of all the other games, it feels like the most RPG of all the RPGs!
Even though it is a remastered collection of older games Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is worth a top 10 slot IMHO.
Also, play Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice if you like FromSoftware’s action role-playing games. I know it is just an action game, but it kind of share the same philosophy and DNA from Dark Souls trilogy and Bloodborne.
ever thought of ranking the battlefield games?
I always appreciate some Xenoblade love. Easily the best trilogy of games I've played maybe ever. Although they are indeed connected to each other, just not in the typical way that you would expect. 3's DLC definitely answers a lot of questions
I wouldn't be able to rank and compare these games together. They're all so different. I don't mind comparing JRPG and Western, but in my personal logs, Action RPG has been that you're roleplaying a specific role/character with a linear path (Xenoblade, Nier, Spiderman, God of War, FF...) I keep them separate to open world RPGs (Witcher, Zelda, Fallout, Cyberpunk) and souls-like, well I don't consider them an RPG and I just keep them in their own category. So for me Nier would've been my top Action RPG (haven't played FF yet).
But hey, it's your list, your metrics.
Great list! What are your thoughts on Fallout New Vegas?
aint no way, nuh-year automata is my fav game of all time❤
It's a shame you haven't played Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch because that'd be on this list somewhere if you did.
You still need to play the xenoblade 3 dlc. Literally the greatest dlc ever n really ties the whole xenoblade trilogy, along with xenosaga n xenogears.
I bought fallout 4 many years ago and never really played it. Maybe 30 minutes. I'm pumped for the new next gen update. I will definitely be revisiting this game at the end of the month!
Skyrim you can play on anything??
i can't lie, i think the replicant remake is quite a bit better than automata. ending e in replicant is probably my favourite section of any game. it's incredible
Nier Autamata is one of the greatest games ever made
Play KH3: Re:Mind DLC!
Kh3 was such a huge disappointment and it was my most hyped game I ever wanted still to this day.
Same, I used to be a huge KH nut but KH3 just ruined my whole interest in the series
“Winnie the pooh guns” lmao
MH clears all these games. "Witcher 3" at 1 is crayz 😂
I love your videos man, but you spoil every position by putting every game of the list in the thumbnail. No suspance 😂 but great video anyway.
gv timestamps bro pls
Cmon man if not for Xenoblade I played every game here. Concrete, I would put Starfield tbh, not perfect but with the best shooting for Bethesda, great main missions, looting everything, good staff. Rise of the Ronin I played for 20 hours so far and I can say it's pretty great. Dragon's Dogma 2 was disappointing for me. How I would rank those in the list I guess.
1. Elden Ring (Best game of all time)
2. DS3 (Best Sours game)
3. Bloodborne (Hardest game I ever finished)
4. FF Rebirth (Currently playing, Incredible)
5. Nioh 2 (Spectacular game)
6. Witcher 3 (Never finished it but it's nice)
7. Fallout 4 (Would be 2 but so many bugs)
8. KH3 (Super fun, never finish)
9. Nier (Played a bit, never finish)
10. CP 2077 (Played it a lot, too bloated bro)
11. Monster Hunter (Played it a bit, not my thing)
Never played Xenoblade in my lifetime.
awesome list man! And maaaan Starfield is just eh idk not as good as fallout 4 tbh
@@TotallyTubularJonathan Yeah I agree it's just that Starfield is mostly functional as a game. If they port fallout 4 on PS5 that would be superb.
Ghost Of Tsushima?
Concrete.....
TImestamps anyone?
at wich year its called ''modern'' ??
maybe 2nd 3rd or 5th maybe 100th who the fuck cares 😅
Concrete! I would throw Zelda TOTK in there. Good list tho.
That is not an RPG in any way. There is no XP in TOTK, that's enough to show it is not an RPG
@@bearpoop720 Zelda BOTW and TOTK both have a hidden XP system. I would argue that Zelda is more of an RPG then Nioh is. Exp doesn't make a game an rpg. I don't consider Bayonetta and Assassins Creed an RPG but but by that logic. they are.
Zelda is just an action game, not an RPG. Most say it's an action-adventure, but I don't get what makes an adventure game an adventure game. All games seem like adventures.
@@A-Dubs398 Personally I don't think any game is really an RPG unless its turn base. But if you going to say for example monster hunter is an action rpg, then how can you not considered Zelda one? Action RPG is just a sub genre that pulls from both action and rpgs. Zelda TOTK falls in that.
@bearpoop720 if that is the case why is monster hunter on this list. There is no xp. Tears of the kingdom has a hidden xp, you upgrade your armor hearts and stamina. There is alot of rpg elements in the game.
Outer Worlds > Fallout 4
Where's Zelda!?!?
Has never been an RPG.
@@dennisdavidov782 But it has been, sure no skill tree but look at BoTW and ToTK and tell me they're not RPG's.
First
Opening the list with KH3 is not a good first impression. That game was a snoozefest.
Xenoblade isn’t turn-based, but isn’t action either
TW3 is a very mid game imo
What is bro yapping about
@@RDB0199118 it's yapping if you're okay with mediocre gameplay, loot/crafting/exploration system etc.
nioh2 combat is the best i ever played in any game
