I was about to say this like its a fact then realised that it isn't and just because no one has ever corrected me I assumed I was right 😭 But my understanding is that, no, Katniss did not want another Hunger Games. We see that she felt bad for the innocent capital children during the rebellion (the girl in the yellow jacket) as well as having genuine friends from the capitol. The reason she voted yes was to make sure that Coin thought that she was truly on her side in order to have no suspicion around her to then assassinate Coin instead of Snow. That said, Suzanne Collins is VERY smart and I don't think I'll ever know everything that she was implying in the Hunger Games.
Big team Katniss did nothing wrong! Hate Gale. I can’t believe Catching Fire was boring for you! My favorite absolutely lol. I agree mockingjay is a mess tho from a storytelling perspective, but yeah Katniss definitely was tricking the lady in order to kill her… it was that moment that she realized district 13s leadership was no different from the capitol. Definitely no capitol hunger games 😂
I think the movies were better than the books. The story just works better on the screen and because it shows us more than just Katniss's POV 🤷♀️ And I'm pretty sure Katniss only said yes to the Capitol Hunger Games to not make Coin suspicious of her- therefore allowing Katniss an opportunity to take her out and that's why Haymitch agrees. It was a video by The Geek Apprentice called "Why Katniss Agreed to a 'Symbolic' Hunger Games" that shed light on it for me because I was like WHAT! too when I initially read that scene but it gives me a new appreciation for her.... well, there are my two cents.
i COMPLETELY disagree in regards to the books in the movies. while the movies are good adaptations they lose so much of the nuance that the books contain. katniss’ complex personality of being an extremely paranoid and closed off person while still loving and caring so deeply for everyone around her is not shown nearly as well in the movies due to how introspective she is. katniss always has intense thought in her mind while expressing very little of those thoughts and feelings, and that concept just can’t be shown on a screen. not to mention the movies lose SO much of the VITAL moments of the books. madge’s entire character is cut, which completely removes the fact that the revolution symbol was started by solidarity between two classes (the seam vs the merchant class), the loss of focus on the avox’s removes from the true cruelty of the capitol, peeta’s character is quite frankly destroyed with all of his personality aside from loving katniss being removed, and the pacing of the final two movies remove so much tension from the overall story. not to mention their most egregious crime of choosing to change the beginning of the 10th hunger games to a blood bath when the WHOLE POINT of the beginning of those games in the books was that no one went to attack each other. it entirely misses the point that these games are in their early stages and that these tributes are in no way prepared to kill each other. the first kill in the book is literally one of mercy, and replacing that with a bloodbath for the purpose of audience entertainment is literally an embodiment of the capital.
@@s.a.3746 Yeah, I get that and I don't disagree about those things-movies will never be able to do what a book does-but not being a die hard fan of the books, it didn't bother me quite as much, if at all (sorry! I know how hard of an opinion that is to hear about books you love, fellow reader; and to clarify I only mean I liked the movies better, I DON'T mean to say they are better-not at all). (I know how hard that is when movies change so much from your favorite books-I can't even watch Harry Potter because of all the changes.) But with The Hunger Games I just had a hard time with the books because we were in her head so much and knew so little of what was going on, which I get is realistic because we're getting the story through her eyes and all that (and getting her emotions a little too well for my heart to handle) but as a reader I just wanted to know, and that's why I like the movies better. That deviation of seeing the things happening outside of her POV is what made the story more interesting and alive for me. And it made the whole let's deceive the districts about our relationship a lot easier to swallow because I have no interest in the fake relationship trope at all (I don't know why)...anyway. What are your thoughts on Sunrise on the Reaping?
Unrelated comment- I recently visited Dussmann Kulturkaufhaus in Berlin and was blown away by their quantity & variety of English books! I think it’s the biggest English bookstore in all of non-Anglophone Europe! And the best thing is it’s open until 12 am 🥹 do visit if you are in Berlin next time!
@@Vivslittlelibrary yeah you’ll love it for sure! There’s a complete English bookstore of Thalia in the Mall of Berlin too! You will get some great contents for your youtube channel as well 😉 Cause I am sure there are many searching for great English bookstores in Germany.
wait SAME 💀 but I'm 28 so... yeah, I haven't read any of the hunger games even though it was so hyped when I was younger. I watched the first movie... ish. Because I watched it on YT when it still has clips 😂 I think for the longest time, they weren't confirmed that it was the US until pretty recently 👀 You read so freaking fast though!! The fact that you can basically film the whole thing in one day. I felt like these books won't have a huge as an impact as reading it when it was during its peak 😭because we know most of the major spoilers (eg. peter's kidnapping/ptsd, rue dying, prim etc)
Yeah… I feel like I would have enjoyed them a lot more a few years ago… but I am glad I wasn’t the only one who watched random clips on TH-cam😂😂 And yeah… I sometimes wish I could read slower… but nope…😩

Yeah that does make a lot more sense…😂

Ok… thank you for confirming that… I was so confused… I am really bad at reading between the lines…😩☺️

Yeah that makes sense… when I read it it was just so confusing… like it was so out of character for her…😩
