I agree, I had an amazing theater experience watching Catching Fire and it inspired me to read the books (which inspired me to never watch the last movies until YEARS later 💀)
He had such power on scene and alway delivered perfection, I hope all the young actors that got to work with him took in all the knowledge he had to offer
@pine5926 they’re not together. I’ve watched the movies many times and read the books several times as well. Just because a girl and guy kiss doesn’t mean they’re together. They’re in the middle of a war, they’re trying to navigate their feelings in a crazy situation. But they aren’t together. Gale always assumed Katniss and him would be one day, and he has a kind of possessiveness over her, but they’re not together. They’re long term friends who probably would have started dating eventually if she hadn’t went into the hunger games, but they hadn’t gotten to that point yet, even if they were both somewhat aware that that’s where they were likely headed with their relationship. So no they were not together, not YET. And they never do get together in the series. What would have eventually culminated in a romantic relationship between them, gets interrupted and messed up by the games and their political situation. Which is why their relationship feels so weird. They’re not together, but they probably would be eventually if it weren’t for their situation. And you’re being awfully rude for someone whose media literacy is so bad you thought they were dating, when their entire arc is based on the fact that she’s not actually with either him or peeta, and is trying to navigate the feelings she feels for both, while having to maintain a facade and deal with their political situation. Them not actually being together is an important part of their arc. This series is about war and the toll it takes on people, even when the war is needed and justified for people’s liberation. Part of that is losing the potential future she had with Gale, the one that had been hinted at, but that hadn’t actually started happening yet. The war radicalizes Gale to the point where he is no longer what Katniss needs, and she loses that potential future with him. Instead, she has Peeta, who is more what she needs in a post-war era. However if the war, her sister being picked, etc. had never happened, she probably would have eventually started dating Gale, wouldve settled down with him, and his fire wouldve helped keep their family going in the awful conditions of district 12. Katniss not only loses her sister to the war, she loses the life she could’ve had with Gale, the life that wouldve taken time to evolve in while they struggled to survive in district 12. You can literally google “are katniss and gale together in the beginning of the series” and tons of sources will come up telling you they were not. There was love there, but they had not actually started dating and had not even kissed yet. Katniss was to preoccupied with keeping her family alive, to worry about dating anyone at the point.
@annabelledrake2027 nice comment, very well articulated, quite rare on youtube! I've never read the books so can only offer my perspective from a few viewings of the movies. It's quite heavily implied that the two have a bit of thing for each. There does not need to be a kiss or an official announcement of a relationship - the spending of time together, talk of the future is enough to indicate that they are a bit of an item, or at least working towards that as you say.
@@aidanorawe4248it’s not really heavily implied to me, even before reading the books. Gale is into her yes, but to me Katniss seen Gale as a friend. As she said, she can’t even think about stuff like that right now. That’s not even in her mind, she’s saying that to Gale because he’s getting angry at the wrong thing when her focus is escaping for safety. Gale kisses her with the ‘I had to do that, just once’ and Katniss looks confused. Reading the books make it clear when Katniss really clarifies that there’s nothing romantic between them, and that girls are all over him but she doesn’t care. She just needs him as a hunting partner, and when Gale kisses her she’s basically confused. Her reaction being like ‘well that came out of nowhere’
Katniss and Gale never dated. They’re just childhood friends but Gale does have a crush on her. She never really thought of Gale in that way because all she thinks about is keeping herself and her family alive.
I love when new Hunger Games reactions pop up on my feed, and it's always the best when it's people whose other reactions I've already watched and enjoyed! Can't wait for the rest of the series!

Great reaction! I guess what people forget about Haymitch, is that he won one game out of 73 which means that after he won and became mentor he saw every kid pass by him, and then die…that is super traumatizing
OMG YESSS this is everything!!! I can't wait to watch you guys react to this in full because it's my favorite dystopian franchise, aside from The Maze Runner. They were both a huge part of my adolescent years lol anyway, I love you guys so much, and I hope you enjoyed the book series, Shoshana, because the movies are just as great imo, if not even better because I just love seeing things come to life and having a proper visual to enhance my reading experience, but it's super nice to see Vince give this story a chance because it might not be for everyone, but I feel like it's a must-read and must-see! 😭❤
I've said this in the past, but it's always true: Donald Sutherland (RIP, good sir) makes a really good villain as President Snow. It's kind of the same paradox with Imelda Staunton/Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter: a delightful actor playing such a vile, despicable character. Also....RIP Rue. She did not deserve the fate she was given.
Plus, the whole 2 members from the same district can win wasn't even a thing yet(Plus it was BS). If Gale would have volunteered, either they both would have died, or they both would have made it to the end and one of them had to kill the other.
Or Gale's I believe 4 to 6 siblings and his mother, his father was also kelled YTrulles in the mine. Katniss had vowed to never marry or have children; she did not want her children to go through the same hardships.
This is my first time watching this channel and I’m glad he caught and addressed the salute for Rue that Katniss did 44:43 . Coz her actions right after Rue died, turned her into something she didn’t asked for but what Panem needed. I’m tuning in for the next movies.
I LOVE Cato development in this movie. In the book he’s just an antagonist to beat. But here you see him develop from a silent killer, to a cocky jock, to a kid having fun with his friends killing people (yeah it’s messed up but it’s all he knows). But then as the games go on, and his friends die and he suffers, he’s broken down to the point where we see him on the cornucopia. That speech is just incredible and so tragic. Killing is all he knows. Bringing pride to his district is all he knows. And he finally realizes how pointless it all is
@ that’s one of the reasons the movie is better then the book. The book is told from katniss perspective so she of course has to face the imminent danger: the careers. She understands the capital is the enemy only at the end. With the movie they could jump around and show scenes with Snow and the game makers. Remind us who the real enemy is
Katniss would never have forgiven gale if he volunteered. She needed him to take care of her mom and sister. "Whatever you do dont let them starve" When their dad died they all almost died from starvation, peeta saved them with the bread. She was on the brink of death when he burnt it on purpose so he could give it to her.
Only 1 survivor That is why Gale didn't volunteer. Katniss and Peta only both survived cause Katniss cheated the system which based on the capitals reaction, almost never happens.
Yeah if Gale volunteered there would be only one winner. Gale would be good in the games, but it’s Peeta knowing how to play the crowd that made the rule change happen in the first place to play off of
Allegedly The Hunger Games at least the things that happen in this movie is supposed to be 300 years into the future. So based on the release date of 2008, then this happens in 2308
Lawrence's breakthrough role came in Debra Granik's independent drama Winter's Bone (2010), based on the novel of the same name by Daniel Woodrell. I don’t know if anyone’s done a timeline but I remember this book (mostly the movie, though) inspired the Minecraft Hunger Games mod back in like 2013-ish which went on to inspire stuff like PUBG and Fortnite, and most modern battle royale games. Also, it feels like a future dystopian gladiatorial game. I guess if you were a slave gladiator in real life you might consider that a dystopia, too. Great reaction!
I couldn't count how many times I've watched reactors and this series. Something about the way Jennifer portrays trauma throughout this series incredible
Just started the video and I can’t lie, i’m excited to see Vince’s reaction to these. The Hunger Games books and movies are by far one of my favorites. And this is coming from someone who hates to read. Much love from NC, hope yall are doing well!
This is an amazing reaction, and I love your thoughts on it! The Hunger Games (movies & books) have always held a special place in my heart, so seeing the love & praise you have for it already brings me a lot of joy!💜🦋 I'm really looking forward to your Catching Fire reaction; I'm sure it'll be amazing! Stay safe, stay hydrated, and take care!💞
One of my fav series ever , both written and movie form. There’s so much more backstory in the books and explanation. Also Gale and her are not in a relationship. They’re just friends. Peeta s feelings are always sincere for her, everything he does is to protect and help her, including joining and leading the careers away from her. He was never leading them toward her.
@ Actually I’m 23 so shows what you know. Why do I have to be under a certain age just because I don’t know about a certain celebrity. Could be because I just don’t care. I didn’t even know he was Zoe Kravits dad. They asked where he was from so I looked him up and that’s when I found out.
@@dariusporter358I don’t want to be rude but it actually does. Anyone over the age of 30 who didn’t grow up under a rock knows who Lenny Kravitz is. I guarantee your parents know who he is.
42:35 funnyly enough you chose the correct description/explanation in wording it as "Battle Royale." this concept, in itself took inspiration of a Japanese totalitarianism dark gritty and gorey! Super gorey! Film that put children, even close to under the age of 6 to be involved in their twisted sick little games of survival. Its deffo not for the fait hearted. Vince! If you and Shoshanna(hope i didnt butcher her name spelt)🤫 should ever get the chance to visit it innthe near future, it could make for a crazy Halloween watch🤔🙈👀 just remember "Battle Royale year:(2000) and i advise you to have a bucket near by yall😈
Crazy that Vince has never seen/read the Hunger Games before! Ty for uploading videos so consistently, they're always fun to turn off my brain and relax for a bit:)
@@theperfectmixx Oh also, I didn't mention this because I commented before watching the video and maybe you'd have noticed, but it turns out you didn't: Oi oi oi, the guy that killed Rue is our one and only Hughie from The Boys :p
Vince brought up a good point about Gale not volunteering himself for the boy spot, but I'm not sure if Gale was already "aged out" to participate; he looks like he was 19 or older at the time.
I didn't know there were people who didn't know Woody Harrelson guess not everyone is old enough to remember the show Cheers lol you probably know him from Venom plays Cletus/Carnage Lenny Kravitz the musician/actor plays Cinna
Although I'm a voracious reader, I never bothered reading these as they're just a rehash of the Shirley Jackson classic "The Lottery". Thus, I reluctantly watched the movies, and was quite surprised at how good they were. Gotta keep an open mind... I think the scariest thing about this kind of story is people who gasp at how shocking such a situation would be. Guess what folks: we all live in this situation right now.
Never heard of the book you mention. Stephen King's Running Man is the first I know of with a similar setup. It is not a "rehash" at all. A very offensive and undeserved comment about the author Suzanne Collins who was commissioned by Scholastic Books to write a story to teach students about politics and war. Her other series for younger students about the same topic is The Underland Chronicles.
This movie is so good. Rue's death breaks my heart and makes me cry every time I see it 😭 Last year I binged all the movies cause it had been a while since I watched them and they are all amazing. RIP Donald Sutherland 🕊❤ There's 4 more hunger games movies catching fire Mockingjay part 1 Mockingjay part 2 the ballad of songbirds & snakes
Haymitch telling her they're not happy cuz she showed them up is deeper than yall realized at the time, no spoiler but heymitch knows 1st hand what happens when u show them up, he is trying to warn her.
She blew up the supplies because is said in the book the few times the careers, which are kids that are trian for the games by their districts, lose is because they lose their hold of the supplies since they dont know how to go with out food and warmth they lose and being from a poor districts Katniss has gone hungry and cold, also she know how to hunt. Plus she has no time to figure out were those mines are.
After this series maybe not for the channel but you could Red Sparrow it's a spy movie set in like 60s Russia and the USSR it's a cold war type spy story. Francis Lawrence who directed theses directors that to. It's so good.
The time is never described from what I remember but Panem was discovered 300 years into the future (I’m guessing whenever the first book or movie was released, plus 300 years) so that would leave it at 2312?
Drinking a Celsius while sitting on a couch is blowing my mind 😅 one is at least 4 times my daily caffeine intake from coffee and I would not be able to sit on that couch
Who was the other? You couldn't possibly be referring to Hawkeye from the MCU. Firstly, he first showed up in 2011's Thor. And secondly, he easily beats Katniss. He quite literally never misses a shot...
@steved1135 sorry poor choice of words....Hawkeye was over shadowed by Katniss I agree, Hawkeye is the superior of the two, he just didn't get much recognition he deserved that year because of The Hunger Games
I read the books a few years before the movie. I would not be a reader today if not for these books. I've always felt that Winter's Bone and X-Men First Class were J-Law's breakout roles.
a lto of people think Hunger Games was Jennifer Lawrence's first big film...but that isn't necesarily true. she did at least three highly underrated films before this; The Burning Plain, Winter's Bone and The Poker House (i this one has another name in some countries). In the Poker House she is a teen in a brothel and there is very brilliant acting by her, especially in an attempted rape scene. Winter's Bone is about teen girl whose dad goes missing, creepy and sisister story. Burning Plain is kind of a complex one, there is a "in the past" and "in the present" thing to it.
Honey I don't know if anybody already told you this but this series it never directly tells you when it's set but it's definitely at least a couple hundred years in the future because panem is where the United States used to be it's a little smaller now because of the rising Waters and what not but the capital is in the Rocky mountains
Yall PLEASE WATCH CATCHING FIRE RIGHT NOW, I loved watching yall react to it but I need to see yall watch catching fire, personally I think catching fire is the best please please please watch it right now
I think y’all may be recognizing the actor that plays Haymitch, Woody Harrleson, because he was in the movie 2012. 1) People are quick to hate on Effie and District 1, but it's important to remember that they are victims too. Each district is tortured different ways. In district 1 they are expected/required to live in opulence and excess or be punished for being unappreciative. They know that most other districts are starving, but they are made to/expected to eat to the point of making themselves sick and pretending they are happy about it instead of having the district share with the others. When they don't fall in line they get turned into the capital and made into AVOXes (people that are tortured and then have their tongues cut out and forced into servitude) or worse...mutts. Think of Effie, woman that draws the tributes' names at the reaping. Her and the TV host, Caesar Flickerman, ...they have a job to do and that is to make these grotesque moments FEEL/LOOK like "entertainment"... or else. EVERYONE is scared, even the Presidents' own family members. The games are NOT "entertainment" to anyone. The citizens of Panem are ALL terrified of their government because they know the grotesque and twisted things it does to people. They watch the games because they wanna see their people and try to support them if/when they can. Being a sponsor demands a lot of money so the sponsor gifts are rare, but people try. You have to watch the games to see what will be needed. 2) Each victor has their own house. Peeta just spends a lot of time with Haymitch since they both live alone. Katniss has her mom & sister staying with her. 3) ALL the animals/“creatures” that you see that aren't flying are referred to as “MUTTS”, creatures created and engineered by the game makers from the remains and parts of past dead tributes. 4) Haymitch was one of District 12's winners. He's an alcoholic because he was a winner when he was 16 and since then has been required to be the mentor of countless tributes only to see them ALL die for nearly 24 years. He’d won his Games by using the force field against the Capitol. Though it was a Capitol creation, Haymitch was able to use it to his advantage and win the Games with it. The Victors receive income from the Capitol for life, are given a special status in their districts and are allowed to live in the wealthiest part of their district called the Victors' Village with their families. Their District is given supplies of food and other things to survive, while the lone victor (except of The 74th Hunger Games since there is 2 victors) is bathed in riches. Most of them become very popular all throughout all of Panem. The Capital, however, can summon victors whenever they want and make demands on them. This is clarified later and in more detail later.
They don’t really flesh it out, but haymitch is so uninvested at the start because since he won, he has mentored 2 tributes every year since and has watched all of them die. He’s numb and drunk
I think X-Men first class was Jennifer Lawrence's breakout role she did that movie the year before she did this one she was doing two trilogies around this time this one and the reboot of the X-Men trilogy
I can say from experience, the first time you pick up most weapons, there has to be at least a little adjustment for lack of familiarity. Bows can have so much variability and she aced her second shot after testing it once. It was foolish of them not to respect her for that; she should've shot an arrow right into one of those asses. 😆

Just started the video and I can’t lie, i’m excited to see Vince’s reaction to these. The Hunger Games books and movies are by far one of my favorites. And this is coming from someone who hates to read. Much love from NC, hope yall are doing well!
9.50 He's the singer Lenny Kravitz and father of actress Zoe Kravitz (Catwoman in The Batman [2022]).😊
This is an amazing reaction, and I love your thoughts on it! The Hunger Games (movies & books) have always held a special place in my heart, so seeing the love & praise you have for it already brings me a lot of joy!💜🦋
I'm really looking forward to your Catching Fire reaction; I'm sure it'll be amazing!
My boy has a Celsius, which I love! :) Honestly, Catching Fire is probably one of my top 50 favorite movies of all-time!
I’ve been waiting for you guys to do this for so long ❤😊!
I never thought about it till Vince brought it up, but he has a good point. Gale should have volunteered when you think about it
Yes Iam so exicted hope you wacth them all
9:41 He’s Zoe Kravits(Catwoman from The Batman) dad. Besides Hunger Games I don’t know of any big movies he was in. He also is a musician apparently.
Yes, a very famous musician with millions of albums sold. I think of “Fly away” as his most famous song but others may have different ones.
You gotta be under 18 for sure if you know Lenny kravitz as zoe’s dad
@ Actually I’m 23 so shows what you know. Why do I have to be under a certain age just because I don’t know about a certain celebrity. Could be because I just don’t care.
I didn’t even know he was Zoe Kravits dad. They asked where he was from so I looked him up and that’s when I found out.
@@dariusporter358 👍
Funny I just started reading it and my addicted 😅
Crazy that Vince has never seen/read the Hunger Games before! Ty for uploading videos so consistently, they're always fun to turn off my brain and relax for a bit:)
Thank you for watching❤
@@theperfectmixx Oh also, I didn't mention this because I commented before watching the video and maybe you'd have noticed, but it turns out you didn't:
Oi oi oi, the guy that killed Rue is our one and only Hughie from The Boys :p
I love watching Hunger Games with you guys this is my favorite
Just found your channel and omg I love y’all! Would love to see you guys watch the rest of the hunger games films
Cant wait for y’all to react to the rest of the series 🥳
The Perfect Mix Such A Awesome Video Today!!🔥🐐🐐💎
Vince brought up a good point about Gale not volunteering himself for the boy spot, but I'm not sure if Gale was already "aged out" to participate; he looks like he was 19 or older at the time.
Cinna is Lenny Kravitz u guys
6:44 come on man.. how fast everyone seems to forget the great sports movie White Men Can't Jump..
5:24 this 1 of hella reason we love vince🐐
I didn't know there were people who didn't know Woody Harrelson guess not everyone is old enough to remember the show Cheers lol you probably know him from Venom plays Cletus/Carnage Lenny Kravitz the musician/actor plays Cinna
My friend, Cheers has been off the air for over 31 years 😄
And I'm 42 I was born the year it started and my dad loved it lol
Still can’t believe Huey killed Rue
I thought that was him. I barely recognized him.
Was wondering if anyone would mention Jack Quaid being in this :)
He also voices Superman
@@oz8724 From what film/series?
@@dwnkaomwn3953 My Adventures With Superman on Max
6:50 he is in Zombiland ❤
Yes
Gale is not her boyfriend.
@@gailseatonhumbert9199 I'm sorry you're not sufficiently aware of classic literature.
You have a new subscriber; I really enjoy your reactions and your screen display. Thanks!
This movie is so good. Rue's death breaks my heart and makes me cry every time I see it 😭 Last year I binged all the movies cause it had been a while since I watched them and they are all amazing. RIP Donald Sutherland 🕊❤
There's 4 more hunger games movies
catching fire
Mockingjay part 1
Mockingjay part 2
the ballad of songbirds & snakes
Haymitch telling her they're not happy cuz she showed them up is deeper than yall realized at the time, no spoiler but heymitch knows 1st hand what happens when u show them up, he is trying to warn her.
Cenna is played by Leni Kravitz he does an amazing job
Such a great series!!
I forgot petite Hughie was in Hunger Games!
Yes this is awesome!!! RIP Donald Sutherland. Can't wait until they see all of them
There's four more movies. Catching fire, mockingjay 1&2, and the prequel A Ballad of Songbirds
11:17 it's supprised me when I found out that it's swet place in 24th century
Lenny kravitz is the wardrobe designer
my favorite movie series in history 😂😂
We got 2 amazing archers in the same year but Katniss came out on top
Who was the other? You couldn't possibly be referring to Hawkeye from the MCU. Firstly, he first showed up in 2011's Thor. And secondly, he easily beats Katniss. He quite literally never misses a shot...
@steved1135 sorry poor choice of words....Hawkeye was over shadowed by Katniss
I agree, Hawkeye is the superior of the two, he just didn't get much recognition he deserved that year because of The Hunger Games
@@Thedude8450 Complete agreed on that...
39:57 But they did make it up lol
i read this before i got there and then loled when i did 🤣
suzanne collins can lolol
I read the books a few years before the movie. I would not be a reader today if not for these books. I've always felt that Winter's Bone and X-Men First Class were J-Law's breakout roles.
U guys r awesome to watch the hunger games ❤🏹
Hey I saw u guys started with war movies so lemme recommend u the best war movie called "ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT"
Alright alright I keep putting off watching these for the first time, I've been meaning to for months now. I'm watching them this weekend dang it! 💜
a lto of people think Hunger Games was Jennifer Lawrence's first big film...but that isn't necesarily true. she did at least three highly underrated films before this; The Burning Plain, Winter's Bone and The Poker House (i this one has another name in some countries).
PLEASE START WATCHING OUTER BANKSSSS WOULD BE AN AWESOME SERIES TO WATCH
White Men Can't Jump, Money Train, and the first season of True Detective are some of the films/series Woody Harrelson been in over the years.
And don't forget his best role: Natural Born Killers.
Yall PLEASE WATCH CATCHING FIRE RIGHT NOW, I loved watching yall react to it but I need to see yall watch catching fire, personally I think catching fire is the best please please please watch it right now
Vince rocking those afros yeah 😊
6:43 Woody Harrelson
you are the first people ive seen who've actually read the books
You guys have to got to watch the Smile movie!
i really do love this movie alot
Just subscribed to ya’ll ! Shoshana lowkey reminds me of Aloy from Horizon
I think X-Men first class was Jennifer Lawrence's breakout role she did that movie the year before she did this one she was doing two trilogies around this time this one and the reboot of the X-Men trilogy
finally yall are gonna love hunger games
Y’all need to check out the beekeeper
Josh Hutcherson's aka Peeta first villain role.
i always watch after work, love seeing you guys react to some of the greats!
❤❤
😅 not going to lie I was never into the whole hunger games until I found out Jennifer Lawrence was in it 😁. She's one of my celebrity crushes 💯.
I can say from experience, the first time you pick up most weapons, there has to be at least a little adjustment for lack of familiarity. Bows can have so much variability and she aced her second shot after testing it once. It was foolish of them not to respect her for that; she should've shot an arrow right into one of those asses. 😆
Hunger Games is supposed to be set about 300 years in the future
