Mike is super cool, one of my biggest influences and why I picked bass to learn. Funny, at first ages ago I thought 'WATT' was his stage name, as in 300 Watt SVT Amp or like Klaus Flouride, lol ! I told him this at a gig once, he got a laugh out of it ! Great guy and incredible bass lines. His new music too this year, always original sounding, unique, and interesting.

How Watt talks about playing Jack Bruce’s Bass is exactly how I felt Sitting in Mikes Pad Playing that Thunderbird Bluey and his iconic 56 Precision bass Thunderbroom! I’d spent my teenage years listening to and watching Mike play those 2 basses . My mind was absolutely blown sat there holding them and playing them . The Bluey feels amazing with the flats on it and the Single coil is in the perfect position for the bounce . Watt has been my bass hero and guru for all of my life since age 11 and having met and got to know him he’s more inspirational and supportive than anyone you could ever wish to meet . So humble and generous with his time and knowledge.
The greatest hero anyone could have !

The day I went to buy my Zon Sonus Special in Bass Northwest (Seattle) one of the owners said "Hey, Mike Watt just walked in here". He played the night before and blew out his Eden amp so he was bringing it in to be repaired. I was playing the Zon unplugged sitting on the stairs inside the store and I saw Mike milling around. So when I was at the counter he walked up next to me and Chad (owner) said "Hey Mike, this is Ron. Ron saw you in NYC opening for Primus several years ago." Mike and I had a small exchange and then Chad left to go get the gig bag for my new bass looks at me and says "Are you buying this bass?" and jokingly I said "Yes, but now I have to learn how to play it." and he kindly replied with "Nah, I heard you when your were sitting on the stairs playing it, you know what you're doing.". That's one of two of my Mike Watt stories, cheers!

Noice, I play bass and I like Mike Watt a lot. The Reactionaries, the Minutemen, Firehose, Iggy and the Stooges, Flipper, the Missingmen and etc are great bands. Mr. Watt is cool.
