  • My Edge Pro Gear PaintBook Ultimate Package Review with Suzanne Barrett Justis
    In this video, I will review the Edge Pro Gear Paint Book Ultimate Package. I am not sponsored by anyone, so this is just my opinion through my experience with this product. This portable, light weight Pochade is a sweet little package. It breaks down and sets up quickly and is very user friendly. The Edge Pro Paintbook has come with me to paint demos in zoos, many workshops that I have taught, and out in the field for plein air. Please check them out at edgeprogear.com and let them fix you up.

    This was a great review, thank you! I echo the tablet holder issue but it is a great idea. The paintbrush holder and especially the magnetic turp jars are among my favorite features. I had forgotten about using under the palette for storage! Thanks for the reminder. Now it will be easier to find some smaller things that get lost in the bottom of my backpack :) Looking forward to your next video!

      I love my paintbook. It travels so well. It’s been with me all over the world doing workshops and demos in zoos....sometimes..I just use it in my studio because it’s so handy and adjustable. It’s an investment but totally worth it.

    A word of caution - be carefull your glass palette does'nt pop out when you have it tilted like that. It used to happen a lot in animation studios where I worked. The glass disc would sometimes pop out from the desk and smash on the floor.

      Ha. Funny you should say that. I HAVE broken my glass palette before so I often use the plexi one instead. Thanks for the tidbit ….hopefully, Another viewer will also take heed. Thanks
      For watching Paul.

    Thanks for the insight. I really the idea of the light attachment. Could come in handy painting nocturnes.
    I wonder if there’s portable lights like the one you have here that can attach to other pochade set ups?
    Guess the attachment is custom built into the edge pro.
    Curious what do you use to carry the wet paintings? Thanks

    • @SuzanneBarrettJustisArtist
      @SuzanneBarrettJustisArtist  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well hello and thanks for watching my video. Yes, I have used the light attachment mainly for painting demos in low light but I have not painted nocturnes….I bet it would be wonderful for that. As for how I carry may wet paintings out …well….I wish I had a good answer there. I mainly just handle them from underneath. Ha ha It’s not pretty. I know there are a lot smarter artists out there who can advise you better on this. I know a lot of folks who use pizza boxes or slotted carriers to do such. Again, thanks for watching and I hope you consider subscribing to my channel. Happy painting to YOU!!!

    I am looking to purchase a easel and tonight I came across the website for this and thought it seemed really nice,,, I’m checking out reviews now.... but I am painting with acrylics though and use a wet palette,,, I wonder how I can do that with this? Have you heard of anyone doing that like changing it up somehow for a wet palette? 🙃

    • @SuzanneBarrettJustisArtist
      @SuzanneBarrettJustisArtist  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wendy Love23 wow. That’s a great question. I am sure it is done Wendy, but I don’t know anyone that does. I bet if you go on their site www.edgeprogear.com/paintbookstore you might be able to find something out. Also, call them. They have a great customer service group that might be able to direct you. I know the glass pallet pops out easily and I imagine you can pop a wet pallet in ....it’s just making sure you get the right size. Hmmmmmm. Now you got me thinking. If you find out something good Wendy....would you please let me know??! I would love to pass on any info to others that might have the same question. Another good plein air pallet is the En Plein Air Pro ....it’s pallet might be more conducive for acrylics. enpleinairpro.com/. You might want to check them out. My student just got this set and it’s great.

    What size is the Edge pro paint book you are utilizing in this YTV?

    • @SuzanneBarrettJustisArtist
      @SuzanneBarrettJustisArtist  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the larger paint Book….it’s the size of a lap top. They also have the sketch book….the smaller version that easier to travel

  • @shellyenglandart

    • @SuzanneBarrettJustisArtist
      @SuzanneBarrettJustisArtist  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This one is the large paint book. My student/friend also has this as well as the small sketchbook size. She loves it for en plein air as it’s way more portable sand easier to pack to be on a plane, etc. i might consider getting the sketchbook for smaller pieces

      Yes and yes. If you saw one of my more recent videos on painting the white egret, I was using my edge pro paintbook then….it was a snow day at my house!! I love it.

    Way over priced

    • @SuzanneBarrettJustisArtist
      @SuzanneBarrettJustisArtist  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is pricey for sure but I love mine and it has gone with me all over the world. It travels great and sets up so easily. A less expensive one that I like that several of my students have gotten is the en plein air pro ….it’s a great alternative

      Got to agree, the price of boxes today has got to the point of being ridiculous. You could literally buy materials a router and table saw, make your own and still have change from what it costs to buy one of these pimped up boxes.
