      Can you please suggest when buying DAYTRIPPER EASEL which mixing area should we get Natural gray Plexiglass or Natural Gray glass and which size Upright mount should we get?
      Thanks

      Thank you! Search for "Prolific Painter, Daytripper Easel" online and it should come up. I don't use it quite as much now that I have my PochadePalette, but it is still a great option. Hey Cody! Didn't realize you had a youtube! I was just searching around trying to decide if the daytripper was a legit set up or not. Seems pretty legit. I've been wanting something lighter than my french easel. That card reader is a genius idea as well!

    • @fountatelier
      @fountatelier  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks man! I’ve really enjoyed my day tripper. Kind of pricey for what it is but it’s held up well. If you are handy you could probably make something similar. I’d recommend it! Way more portable than a French easel, that’s for sure. Let me know if you have any other questions about it!

      @@fountatelier Thats awesome! I just ordered one! What size backpack would you say you need to carry it around?

    • @fountatelier
      @fountatelier  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DannySabraArt I use a backpacking backpack that has a laptop sleeve and it works great. The palette is a little over 11" from back to front so it should fit in most laptop sleeves. I think most backpacks would work. FYI It might take you awhile to get it, so be forewarned. It took a few weeks for me to get my easel, maybe a month. It is a small operation so they only ship them out when they have a batch of orders ready. Let me know what you think when you get it!

    • @DannySabraArt
      @DannySabraArt 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fountatelier haha! Dang I should've talked to you before ordering! I was hoping to get this thing in the next couple weeks for an upcoming trip. This is a big upgrade for me. I wonder if i can alter the order. I appreciate the info on the backpack. Do you know of any comparable easels like this one? Mostly i wanted something lightweight and on facebook it seemed like a lot of folks recommended it.

    • @fountatelier
      @fountatelier  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Who knows it might get here, it just depends on their shipping schedule. I had a hard time getting ahold of anyone but if you can figure out how to call them they might be able to give you a better timeline. Yeah it fits the bill for a lightweight, portable option for sure. The ordering/communication was a little rocky, but once I finally got it I've loved it.
      The U.Go pochade box made by New Wave is a good alternate option. it is little different setup but very portable. I have their smallest version and I really like it. It goes on top of a tripod and fits in a laptop sleeve. Still not cheap... but really good quality. Let me know how it turns out!

    Great setup. What is the material the panel holder and palette are made of? Metal? Wood? And do you happen to know the weights? Couldn't find the specs on their website. Also, would you mind sharing the source of your light sources? Thanks!

    • @fountatelier
      @fountatelier  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, glad you found it helpful! The panel holder and panel are made of a lightweight, fairly thin wood. It feels a little too thin at first but it has proved to be very durable over the years. I am not sure on the weights; rough guess would be 2-3 lbs for the palette and maybe 1 lb for the panel holder. Don't forget you have to have a pretty heavy duty tripod as well. My lights were just simple grill lights from Amazon. They are battery powered. I've had them for a long time so I don't have the link for the exact ones, but something like this should work well: amzn.to/3mR2lyy they are rechargeable, clip to the easel and you can adjust the color temp. Let me know if you have any other questions!

    Not a comment on this particular guy but reviewers in general. 99% sharing their gear focus entirely on whatever fancy pieces of kit they have, and ok, that's the purpose of the video. However, I cannot think of one who considers the need to eat and particularly drink when out in the countryside which adds to the weight you need to carry. Also the back pack needs to be carefully chosen for fitting if you intend to hike any distance, an ill fitting pack can be a disaster and can cause back and shoulder injury which may be a problem for years. Your needs are important, not just the painting hardware and process.

    • @fountatelier
      @fountatelier  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very true considerations! If I am going out all day I will take snacks and extra water with me. I typically hike to my locations and spend some time there, so a decent hiking backpack helps. If someone is pulling into a parking lot and walking 15 yds to setup, obviously their gear choices will need to be different. I have different setups for different scenarios. Each individual needs to assemble their kit depending on their unique needs.

      Hi Ron - the backpack I use is made by Outdoor Master, I found it on Amazon. Despite being on the cheaper end it has held up well and I've had no issue the past few years. It is a 50L backpack which is plenty large to hold all my plein air stuff. Good luck, let me know how it goes!

      Hi Pamela! It is a custom upright-panel-holder that you can purchase w/ the Daytripper easel. This one is the 24" off-center mount. Here is more info on it: www.prolificpainter.com/shop/easel/ Hope that helps!

      I got that brush holder with my Prolific Painter setup; works well. I use a different setup now that is more compact, but that one got the job done. It is pretty simple/general, pretty sure you could find something similar on Amazon for $10-20
