This is one of my favorite calibers to shoot and reload for. Another time or 2 at the range with it before the whitetail season is what I'm hoping for. I'll tweak the scope again on my next range trip and have it dialed in for sub MOA at 100yds ... thanks for stopping by and watching, Brother 🤞😉👊🇺🇸
Yes, it does have a bit more punch than 6.5 Creedmoor 😉 ... 6.5 Swede is the grandfather of the caliber, and I really love this rifle ... thanks for stopping by and watching, Brother 😁👊🇺🇸
I believe the recoil shown is due to the composite stock. I have one, built on a Boyd's "At-1" stock has zero recoil, with full house loads. My other build, 7mm Rem Mag on Boyd's At-1 stock shoots like a 243, almost no recoil.
I have a sporterized swede with a synthetic stock as well. I believe it was one of the Kimber imports, but not certain. It has some serious issues. Not only did I miss a nice northern Michigan buck after discovering a problem with the scope mount, it still doesnt shoot the tightest groups, compared to my othe M96 and M38. I plan on doing a full strip down and re-fit as well. Id like to see another video to see how your grouoing comes along. It looks like it's just getting seated after those forst couple groups with some nice overlapping in there. If yours has the reprofiled military barrel like mine, the lathework may have hindered its harmonics some. The mausers were stepped in soecific locations for harmonics and I believe they also relied in some pressure from the muzzle cap. One thing I plan to try with rebedding the stock, is adding an adjustable set screw incorprated with the sling mount or a bipod mount. Then Ill exoeriment with adding a little tension up the barrel. Itll be an interesting little project and if it doesnt pan out, the screw hole could be used for a laser or other accessory. Worse case, I have an unissued M94 barrel to replace the skinny barrel.
Thanks for stopping by and watching, Brother 😉 ... more videos to come at some point🤞. Just started a new job on the 1st of this year and been working crazy hours and 7 days a week. Haven't had any time to dedicate to my channel. Enjoy your mauser project 😉👊🇺🇸
I have a Gustav 1912 M96 sporterized that I've been shooting for about 24 years. I purchased it at a Houston gunshow in 2000. Whoever the smith was that did the work on this rifle was an outstanding craftsman. One of the prettiest tiger striped walnut stocks you will ever see on it. Of course the barrel cut/crown is perfect. Bolt remake in the syle of a Model 70 Win. I mean it is a gorgeous rifle to behold and a dream to shoot even now. 3/4" groups are the norm (3 shot) and it's favorite ammo is the Federal Power Shok and the Nosler Trophy Grade Accubonds (both 140gr). I shoot only commercial ammo at 2650fps listed velocity. Drops deer and hogs in their tracks. What velocity are your handloads? I have shot Hornady's Superformance ammo at about 2750 and the groups spread to about 1 1/4". You might try some Federal just to see if slower is better.
My hand loads are pushing 2550 fps. I have shot the Hornady Superformance and getting 2790 fps group size was 1.00 - 1.25. I will give the Federal ammo a try and see what happens. Thanks for stopping by and watching, Brother 👍👊🇺🇸

I had and hunted ine of these for many years. The 120g Sierra Pro Hunter was AWESOME!! ❤❤❤
Right on! Thanks for stopping by CW😉👊🇺🇸
I love 6.5x55. It was one of my dads favorite deer calibers. He used a Winchester model 70 feather weight chambered in 6.5x55. Great video.
Thanks, jw, for stopping by and watching. This is by far one of my favorite deer calibers👍... your dad was a wise man😉👊🇺🇸
Great to see you finally got it out on the range!
Excellent range trip JerrBear! I've always been a fan of 6.5 x 55 Swedish. Mausers too! That'll knock down big game all day long as it is. Mike.
I'm hoping to get in the whitetail woods with it this season 🤞 ... thanks again for stopping by and watching, Mike👊🇺🇸
Excellent vid, Jerr. My OCD would have clicked that windage once to the left. Lol. Once she's broke in she'll be a tack driver.

That has a little more recoil than I expected. I'm used to how soft my 6.5 CM shoots

Not a bad rifle 👍🏻 . Mauser always made great rifles
We should chat sometime.
It's not original, but it's well worth having in my collection. I inherited this from my brother, and it means a hell of a lot to me 😉👊🇺🇸
