Jealous American here. Half my peoples are from Scotland and I've never been there. First place I will come when my care taking days are over! Thank you for these videos.

Great Video, and very good history.
    Fun Facts:
John Carswell (Seon Carsuel) who built the castle was 7ft tall (around 2.5m).
Carnasserie was built during the Renaissance period and would have still been a fully functional inhabited building today if a wild battle didn't occur later on.
Carswell's 2nd residence was the Kilmartin Castle which is around 2 - 3 miles south of Carnasserie
Carnasserie Castle is 458 years old in the current year of 2023
the castle will turn 500 in 2065
and when the castle is 1,000 years old, that would be in the year 2565
Stonemasons from all over were employed to construct the castle
up to 50 people lived here
the ground floors consisted of cellars, bedrooms and bathrooms whilst the first floor consisted of a private room, a toilet, a great hall (public meeting place/ Dining room)

Hi, another wonderful job on a wonderful castle in a perfect setting. You always have the perfect blend of images and history! I saw this castle last summer. Thanks!

Your other videos included pictures of the signs that they put up to show the house and explain details, like at 5:42 and I get so much joy out of pausing the video and reading those. Its one of those things that makes you feel like you are there, but also has cool visuals and stuff!
Please include those as much as possible! You do an outstanding job narrating and showing video, but since I cant visit the site, this helps me "put myself in your shoes while you are there" as much as possible. So grateful that you do that though! Thank you!

This has been my favorite castle for some time, excellent! Supposedly this was more of a mansion, with secondary defensive characteristics, which is why it was burned/exploded so easily. This castle and the surrounding area Kilmartin is pretty interesting though.

"The Atholl Raid that followed the failure of the Rising devastated large parts of Argyllshire; despite recovering his estates in 1689, Duncan Campbell was financially ruined. In 1690, he petitioned Parliament claiming Maclean clansmen burnt Carnasserie Castle, stole 2,000 cattle and murdered his uncle Alexander Campbell of Strondour". "Alexander Campbell of Strondour" is listed as dying in 1685.....quite the long gap to go back and try to claim damages.
So was he ever compensated? I was lead to believe that he was, but the info isnt easy for me to find, I am ignorant on how to search I guess.

Hi, have you done Knock, Braikie, or Plunton castles? I will be in Scotland this June-July. Have you heard of any more castle openings, by some miracle? Thanks!

Too bad Scotland has gone to the damn dogs. I used to be proud of my Scottish heritage. Sturgeon ruined that.
