That cottage is gorgeous, loved to see the different colours, wow! Drone shots are beautiful. Really fascinated with Carnasserie castle, incredible location for a stronghold, love to see it. Really moving actually and emotive, so much history and standing stones are awe inspiring I’d love to know the cottage you stayed in so I can try and visit these places myself, my Father comes from a line of Picts, known as the Pict Stones , I’m pleased I have found your channel, the Picts used to leave the way markers by carving into the stones. Thanks for the fascinating and close-up look at Kilmartin Glen. I have an upcoming trip to Scotland and Argyll is the first stop. Your video gave me some ideas on photographing the area including shooting Carnasserie Castle at night. Cheers

I grew up in this area and used to love visiting all the cairns and the castle. Did you get a chance to go up Dunadd fort? It looks like you were staying in the holiday cottage at the bottom. Cheers for sharing another great video
😂 I know, she's some woman. I didn't get to Dunadd but I am arranging to head back up sometime and visit more of the area, especially the ring marked rocks and slabs. We stayed on the Auchinellan estate just east of the castle. Was it Kilmartin you grew up in?
@@AScotsmanOutdoors it was Kilmichael that I grew up in (next to the horseshoe inn) it's about half way between Lochgilphead and Kilmartin. Definitely put Dunadd fort on your list it's iron age so very little remaining but a great wee walk up the hill with lovely views.
That was fascinating. I’ve been through the area twice on cycle tours and never really looked at the archaeology so I’ll have to go back. I’ve just done some googling and found that the original bits and pieces date back to about 4000BC whereas Dunadd is around 600AD so Kilmartin has been an important site for humans for a very long time. And then there’s the Crinan Canal. You might like Caithness. Before Covid, the Camster Grey Cairns were open so perhaps we’ll be able to go inside again one day soon. Also, there’s an old stone coffin like the one you filmed where Ava of Achavanich was found. It’s yielded a lot of information about the Beaker people. I disagree with your heckler on the day. That was a video which caught my attention and kept it. But, then again, I am a nerd!
Okay, I'm finally getting around to replying to your good self, apologies for the wait. You can't beat a wee cycle trip so another excuse to head up is welcome I'm sure. I too done some research afterwards and apparently the area was almost like the epicentre of Scottish culture with Dunadd being the stronghold all those millennia ago. I've not visited the Crinan Canal but it was very much promoted in the areas of Lochgilphead and is somewhere I'll go back to. I done some googling of Ava of Achavanich and now had yet somewhere else that I want to visit in Scotland, there will not be enough time in this life to see it all at this rate. I find sites like that and say Pompeii absolutely fascinating. Anything that is a tangible link to the past astounds me, probably because I'm a nerd too. Haha! The heckler is the boss so usually what she says sticks but not with this, she's wrong, standing stones are interesting I say. I'm glad that you liked this and thanks for your comment. Carnasserie is a stunning castle, there was a sword in the hall when i was there, i hope it wasnt knicked.
It must have been moved, hopefully not knicked, because there wasn't any sword when we were there.
