Sorry Justin nothing works on Japanese knotweed other than digging ALL bits as it will reshoot from any part left behind. In UK its illegal to cultivate it. People have had their soil sifted to a great depth to be sure to remove it. Never let it flower.

Japanese knotweed actually has medicinal properties that are helpful for Lyme patients. Phyllis Light and Appalachian herbalist says what you need will grow around your home. Maybe look into using the knotweed for your health issues that stem from Lyme disease.

The vinegar recipe for killing vegetation is 35-45% vinegar, salt, and Dawn dish washing liquid. My sister and I mixed up 1 gallon 35% vinegar, 2 cups salt and 1/2 cup Dawn into a 2 gallon sprayer then topped it off with hot water to make 2 gallons. It works fast.

I try not to get mad when people don't understand turkeys but I had to pause and walk away the first few minutes in. Baby turkeys aren't fragile, they just aren't as domesticated as other poultry. They haven't lost their need for a parent or teacher like chickens and ducks. They are quick to learn from birds around them and when given the tools to succeed, baby turkeys can really thrive. I would love to give a lecture on the finer points of where things can improve here but after doing it for years on various channels I'm just to tired today so I'll just leave it at, hope everyone is having a good and happy Father's day. Everyone deserves to have a great day, because even if they are not here or the person you thought of as dad was not your bio-father, you made someone a father (at least once in your life time) so you should have a nice day too.

So when you do that injection.. do it in the fall... when the knotweed starts dying back.. it pulls the solution back to the roots... and only under the first knot... they grow like grass as well.. if you pull it.. the rhizomes will shoot out and it will spread that way... its so hard to eliminate.. I dug up the entire root ball... still came back.. But... in the spring.. u can actually eat the shoots like asparagus just cut at below 6 inches.. People use it as a rhubarb type of thing.. but u can actually cook it. I tell u this because its so hard to eliminate... u might as well find a use for the problem that's never going away. Manage the best u can and harvest the rest in early spring..

Here in the uk knot weed has to be dig up by a professional landscaper and the roots dug up and then destroyed, if they are near a stream then be careful when removing them, as seeds can float down stream and cause problems down stream.

sheep are crazy for japanes knotweed. I used to work for a company that did knotweed control with sheep. Eat it down about 4-5times, slighty overstock 🙂 First year expansion should stop, after that, just keep on top of it, eventually it will disappear, but as it is just fodder...
Digging it out, expect to go up to 8m (24ft I think?) down. Glyfo is only slightly more effective than sheep btw. Spraying it once won't kill it! Spraying it 4-5times/year, keep it up for a few year (ow wait, that's even more intensive than sheep!)

The best way to use Horticultural vinegar on big weeds is to cut off & compost all the top growth, or rip it out if you can. Immediately spray the vinegar on any open stems & roots. The freshly cut stumps can be sprayed generously before the fresh cuts can begin to seal up.
Then, use tools to scrape away soil around the crown to expose roots coming out of the crown. Pry up roots to break them from the crown & spray any exposed roots & saturate the ground around the root ball.
Then, observe the effectiveness of the vinegar. Within a few days, you may see new growth emerge. Just cut any sprouts off at the base & spray on the newly cut surfaces.
Continue cutting back any new growth you don't want, & then spray fresh cut openings, even if it takes months.
