Just don't hoard them & it won't look as awful. Even if nobody will buy your old drones you can't have them rotting in the corner of your storage, give them away or crash them.
always like your videos Russ - since I have the Avata, Avata 2, Mini 3P and Neo, I see no need for this at all. If I was just getting into this industry, I would get it.
Been watching your vids for a while, and just wanted to say, I grew up in Minot, parents and a few friends still live there, and it's kind of cool seeing someone doing one of my hobbies (and doing reasonably well on YT it seems doing it) and seeing my home town from the air in a way I never got to when I lived there.
Oh, I actually love it. I am going to get that drone ASAP. They have really done a good job that looks so cool. I agree with the DJI flip and thank you for this video. I wish I had about $800 right now. I’ve got to get mine.
I have been looking everywhere to try and find the drone by itself to buy and I cannot find it sold separately. I only find it with an RCn3 controller or the rc2 😞
I'm in the UK and have bought the Fly More bundle for £659. Based on anticipated resale prices I'll sell the RC-2 remote, 2 batteries, hub and case and hope to get the drone down to a cost of £210-230.
Thanks for the video. When the drone is in follow mode you mentioned the algorithm that makes it capture from the waist up. However, if you wanted it to capture your full body in the shot is it possible to reposition the frame? Many thanks.
You need an external remote ID module to use this drone for part 107 operations. Remote ID is required for all drones that are required to be registered, which only excludes drones under 250 grams that are flown under the exception for recreational operations. It looks cool, but I would really only consider buying this if it had remote ID, because a cat 1 drone would make OOP much simpler.
Good morning. Nice drone video. Gonna give it a try when it warms up here in Virginia. Keep on flying my friend an warm weather will be before you can flip a drone. God bless
Thanks Russ. Very much enjoyed the video. SOOO..how do you replace the props if needed ? Do you have to replace the whole prop assembly ? Willing to bet someone will be selling 'clip on' 3D printed feet for the rear props very soon.
Great review Russ. My understanding is the sensor is actually a TOF infrared sensor and it has obstacle braking but not avoidance. Basically, it cant maneuver around obstacles, it just stops. Is this correct or what has your experience been?
I was saving up for a dji neo to get back into the hobby after I crashed my mini 2, but I think I should wait and buy this flip instead !! it looks so Awesome !
Thanx for the great video Russ, I'm impressed with the wind capabilities, I have a Mini 2 and I'm always soooooooo impressed with how the videos never really are affected by wind my Mini 2 has been tilted way over in the wind, but my video is rock solid and level, kudos DJI😊
Thanks a lot, now I want another drone! Wife thinks I’m nuts already!! LOLOL. Love the content you put out. I’ll be watching for your updates on this drone
I was checking out the specs on that drone and I have to admit that it sounds good on paper. We all know that isn't the case for all drones but it definitely sounds good on paper. Especially when it comes to the camera system. It's very impressive for sure. Thanks for sharing Russ as always. 👍👍👍
Enjoyed the review but really interested in a Versus mini 4 pro comparison? You said it was a new standard for "mini lineup" but I don't see it. Maybe they should classify it differently.
I know these newer drones are for hobby flyers, but it would be nice to have RID, goggles/motion controller, 360 sensors, and a drone-only option to purchase. I guess I'll stick to my Mni 4 Pro with prop guards and Avata 2 for Part 107 real estate shoots. I would love a drone that would follow a realtor through a house for a video, but I still need RID. The only thing the NEO and Flip have going for them is the easier DJI mic setup and self-launch. But for a hobby/first drone, it would be awesome. I do like how you're honest about your reviews. Just a pro's perspective.
If i'd be a new first drone buyer, what would be the reason to buy this one, as opposed to the mini series? (IRL i am flying mini 3 pro recreationally, mostly shooting stills, so for me there is definitely no point switching, but still curious)
Any trouble flying over water? I am planning to buy this or the Mini 4k soon but wanted to make sure I can use it while on a yacht. I heard that you can not fly it over water with out the remote but I most certainty will be getting any drone with the RC remote, just wanted to know if you could fly over water and not have any issues controlling it to fly back to the yacht if so.
Thanks! this is the best video you have done. I appreciate you not being a Schill! You are definitely a consumer's best friend. I ordered this drone a few days ago after seeing other similar videos. I was having buyer's remorse, until I saw your video. Should get mine in the mail soon Q: what about Panoramic shots? I really want it to have similar features to the Air 3S or the Pocket 3.
Considering the current import ban (I’ve been trying to buy an air 2s for several months now), just curious how you are able to take delivery of this drone? what’s the status of the ban?
Great overview and demo of the Flip! Seems this is more targeted to recreational flyers, but I can see some use for commercial, in which case it would need to be FAA registered and Remote ID. Night flying I presume, the strobe light will put it over the 250gram limit? Maybe you can touch on some of these topics in upcoming Flip videos. Nice job!
I have to agree, that does look like a awesome little drone. I'm looking forward to your further reviews. Now to go check the price and see if I'm ready to pull the trigger.
I'm here in NZ. I have the RC2 controller with my Mavic Mini 4 pro. We cannot buy the flip by itself here. The cheapest option is with the RC-N3 controller. Why could they not sell just the drone (like the Neo). I won't be buying it for this very reason. I would have purchased it as an alternative drone as it would be cost effective buying it just by itself. Why DJI does this perplexes me. I do not need a new controller to fly this. I am not sure if in other countries you can buy it by itself, but definitely not here.
Thanks Russ. They seem to be putting out new drones before we can even get used to the previous ones. They put out a new drone, and then in just a few months later, BAM, they send out an upgrade to it. I'm sure DJI is throwing out everything they can in fear of the ban going on. (Which I hope goes away soon) But anyway, thanks for the info and review of the Flip. Prayers continuing for your wife and family. God bless you all!
Hello 1st thank you for your videos & time , does the flip have the same camera as the mini 4 pro ? And how is the flight time ? I would like to use it for videos & pictures and tracking our sxs in the off roading environment.. In your opinion would you get the flip or mini 4 pro ?
Is it pretty simple to replace parts if something breaks? I think I gotta have this drone to go with my other 50 builds and prebuilts. Thanks for the share!
As always Russ, Great Video! I wish there was a drone-only purchase option for those of us who already have an RC. They could easily get $350 for this drone.
Nice cool feature that it can turn on when you unfold it but I can see a lot of people forgetting to take the gimbal cover off and overloading the gimbal motors.
Seriously. And... with an add-on module, is it still sub-250? Seems like a complete miss since TH-cam is basically all p107. Perhaps in a software update?
The gimbal on that drone should be getting overtime pay for doing such a fine job in those conditions. I love my Mini 4 Pro, but I have to say, I like what they've done here. The ease of use and speed of deployment is something that might be very useful for a motovlogger like myself.
One of the benefits of the prop guards is to be able to fly in tight spaces with the goggles. I know they could add it later but it kept me from buying. I tough the goggles 3 for the Neo and thought this could give me many benefits of the Neo but a better camera. But no RID so not able to go over people, and no goggle support, killed it for me. It also seems to not get as nice and compact as the M4Pro
Just change the props on the Neo to 5 blade Gemfan with M1.2 6mm screws, much improved sound! And cool colours to choose from. The Flip also does not seem to be very efficient as the Mini 3 Pro. And the Flip battery has 20% more capacity than the Mini 3 pro standard battery!
Well done Sir!; great overview and heads up on this rather different DJI offering; just one question; there are a number of reviews on the Flip and the major negative is still the noise (even compared to the Neo) your thoughts?
So at@ 2:00 min you say you can fly it over people without obtaining faa waiver and then right after that @ 2:45 you say you do have to get faa waiver which is it? I'm going to say you have to get faa waiver but for those not familiar with the rules and only heard you first say you can fly over ppl without one could cause some issues!
Amazing! I wonder how good it could be as a light weight regulation-free solution for photogrammetry. Can I let it fly at least 1,000 waypoints? Is there an API? (lack of that prevented me from buying the Mini 4 Pro)
My NEO did just the same thing last week flying over an icy pond. Banked right, then flew backwards at high speed into trees, before dropping upside down on the thin ice.
Hey Russ. Its a fast "bag to air" drone, no doubt about it. Neo is faster though. No unfolding, and youu can press/press and hold the power button as you pull it from the bag. Wait! There IS NO BAG! That's 3 seconds right there! 😂 Also: Flip sounds better than Neo? Thats a low bar to set! Ill fly a Mini 4 Pro when stealth is the goal, thanks. P.S. looks like the Fly More Combos REALLY FLEW OUT THE DOOR! Had to build my own kit. DJI is charging Tax in North Carolina now 😢
Image quality looks good
It is!
Dang DJI is coming out with such cool drones faster than the money in my wallet refills. I may have a drone alcoholic problem.

@ the NTSB would like a word with you sir
I just bought one here in Chongqing China. Cant wait to try it out. Thanks for the video.
Noise comparisment 3:30 only in the with the Neo? Mini 4 would be more fair in my honest opinion ❤

Apparently the obstacle detection is not Lidar, but is Infrared range detection (according to reports - I have not seen the specs yet).

Easy. It's in the user manual, just download it and see ❤

AWesome video. Would you recommend this as an upgrade from mini3 pro? or should i hang on to mini3 pro.
Mini 3 pro is better
Does it shoot vertical?
Does it track from the side and dolly?
Does it record automatically upon take off?
always good to get it quickly
Does it do stills? Over time, I've found my 180-degree Arial shots are some of my favorite images taken on my broken-down air 2s.

Does it support H.264 in 4k ? or has it the same problem as the Air 3s
a mini 4 pro would have crashed if a pidgeon flew into it like the clip you showed. very appealing to know the flip can survive a brief bird attack.
Russell, did you start the Mavic 4 Pro review yet? Or still testing?
Anybody see where you can purchase the drone (quad) alone? No neeed for a controler.

So im hearing DJI removed geofencing so youve got to do a video on that bud👌🏽
Way points? Does this drone have the ability to set way points for automatic flying patterns?
Waypoints usually requires full 360 obstacle avoidance. This appears to only have forward and downward sensors.
Nope. It has Quickshots, Mastershots and Cruise control. Also Hyperlapse, but not with waypoints it seems (perused the manual just now).
@olabergvall3154 thank you
