Funny. When the cops got one of the bad guys who’s a serial home rubber here in LA and they asked him how are you getting the detailed info on those houses, and he said he used the google maps 😂 but at the end like you said it’s a security threat and it’s not funny at all 😢
Russ, fantastic video! I don't know what you do for a living, but if you are half as good at that as you are at advocacy, it's no wonder you are a success. I think this is probably the most important video you have ever made. We are lucky to have you. Thank you!
I live in Alabama so we go to Florida like goin to the grocery store and I promise u they still use dji there. Who's gonna make them stop? Nobody. Just yt they recent drone work they've been doin with dji at the police stations. They hire individuals like me to do it
Hey Russ, Great video and thank you but sharing this information in such a clear and concise manner. I've email Senator Hoven, shared your video with them and the articles sited. I hope they will listen.
🙂Thank You Russ Watching from Canada. Whatever happens in the United States could happen here in Canada. 🙂💙👍DJI Drones Loved and Used by Millions all over the World👍
Russ, I don't live in N.D. but your commentary "hit the nail on the head". That was so well-put because it can awake up not only the N.D. folks but all the other states, that may consider such a ridiculous and expensive boondoggle. Thanks for getting the word out.
Absolutely outstanding video Russ. Very professionally executed and very well said. If any one of those lawmakers watches this and still passes that bill then it’s obvious that it was done for the wrong reasons.
Thank you for keeping us updated on the latest. I don't believe the government cares whether it is a national security risk as much as they want to force us to buy an American-made drone. This is supposed to be a free country where we can spend our money on things we choose too.
Good video, you are 6 months behind Florida. FL State agencies sold all of their drones and currently have an issues with filling the void with emergency services.
Well said Russ. Your points and references are well founded. However, it seems that most of our legislatures these days on both the state and federal levels and at both ends of the political field find that it is much easier to dive into conspiracy theories and rumors than ask questions, research the subject and practice do diligence before reaching conclusions. The proposed DJI bans are only one example, however, it is a prime example of misinformation and ulterior motives and the cost and harm ill informed legislation can lead to.
I’m with you. I have been using DJI drones since I started 5 years ago. I can’t start over to claw my way back to where I started. Thanks for your take on a raw deal!
I am a fan of DJI drones but I got to say this new move on the geo fencing removal has me wondering why? What information do you have on this and what is your take on it?
Geofencing was removed in Europe last year, and it demonstrated no increase in events. DJI found that the geofence system was interfering with commercial drone operations, as it was not consistent with LAANC. They made the decision to remove it so that people could do their jobs, and put the responsibility on the pilot.
Last I checked, States don't own the airspace. Therefore they can't enforce flying. I suppose they could prohibit taking off and landing from terra ferma, but maybe not hand-launch and hand landing??
I still don't think it's about the drone, the registration and app required for all of them if I am not mistaken, is the security risk. The controller has the app. Can you point me towards the specific app audit you allude to, it's not legible in the video..
I bet the 50k/drone would drop a lot if every penny and person involved is on a detailed audit... P.S. Stay warm my friend! Always fun when C and F get close to being the same thing with that wind chill! I mean, it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the wind ;)
It's truly disheartening to see how politics and economic interests could hinder the growth of the drone industry in the United States, especially when so many other countries are embracing this technology more and more. In Canada, regulations are being modernized to align with advancements in drone technology, paving the way for innovative uses like BVLOS operations. I hope the challenges you're facing can lead to thoughtful, balanced solutions that support both security and the industry’s potential.
I can say what you just said about anything... :( the usa is just so behind, theres so many blatant displays of corruption and they are focused on all the wrong things
This is truly frightening. I can understand Americas security concerns but not after audit after audit where no security concerns have been reported on. Remember Huawei. No evidence was found. If this passes there’s nothing to say it won’t continue over here to Europe.
I couldn't agree more especially about if our government wants to replace dji then our government should put some of it's focus towards creating an American drone lineup that can compete with dji that would make sense and it wouldn't bother me if some of my taxes went towards making that happen
Good informational video. Is there anywhere that the ND government is taking in DJI drones. I have an old Magic Pro that I’d take $1,000 for so it can be part of the $15,000,000, lol
Very clear, informative and well said; it's hard to belive what some so-called wayward polititicians are saying these days to act, tough, as they put on a facade of strength or aggression to appear as good Americans, when in fact they are acting shamefully and against the First Amendment and other American Principles. - { Keep up the good .....................
@ you are correct. I know Russ was referring to agency bans, but I was referring more to consumer bans. Orders from DJI are getting rejected from the east coast ports by customs so it’s probably just a matter of time.
I live in Minot, ND and while this law is concerning you should look into HB 1429. It is a bill requiring permission for drones to fly over private property and secure farmlands and other stuff. It’s silly and isn’t legal to do since the FAA rules the sky. But it’s still concerning they are trying to do it.
With that amount of money per drone, I’d hope that all of it can be traced to where it actually ends up. We have enough of this nonsense here in Canada… the money is never tracked, and some people’s bank accounts are growing. Just a heads up.
The entire nation will be impacted because our Northern Plains Test Site, which is the primary location for incorporating drones into the national airspace system would not be able to use the best drones available to conduct their operations. This would set us back, I believe.
I think we should build our own drones but we should never ban any Drones. I can see them banning it from the government but they should never ban them from the public. And allow the public to work with local and state officials if they need a drone for anything.
Well if any ones interested I got a Lazer printer that can completly put a new logo over the dji logo on your drone that way if u ever get questioned if it's a dji front your flying you can say nope it's a. ( what ever brand u make up ) lol
Russ, clearly you just don't understand, $15,000,000 is not the value or the cost of the existing DJI drones, it's the bonus to be given to someone's uncle or cousin or wife or husband or ....
I want to know why other Chinese companies are given approval to continue business such as tik tok, which poses a greater threat because it can be used anywhere your phone goes including the White House as evident by trumps admission he in fact uses it. I’m sure many others in sensitive areas use the app as well. If they’re going to ban Chinese products do it across the board not just the ones you choose. Problem is the government is unjust in its practices and gives in to the highest bidder.
Hi Russ. WHAT ARE THEY DOING? You just have to wonder what is really going on. Millions of dollars? Folks in your state should be outraged. Even if you hate drones, fly them or never have and never will-- just the obscene misuse of that much money. Where will this money actually go?? Go get em Russ. Save normal folks from this.
You know they are just going to sit on their butts and not assign an agency to check the security of these Chinese made drones. This is because its what they want in the first place. I hate to say that, but I believe that is what they want and see that as a way to get just that. I also think other TH-camrs should also do the same whether they are seeing a state level affect or not. The federal level affect is just as scary to think about because if one or the other passes, bad times for us that use those drones.
Hi Russ, I think your video should be listen to and considered by our law makers but it feels like we keep begging a bunch of leaders who don't seem to care but to advance there agenda whatever it is to consider the any of the information that is provided to them by you and other drone advocates. I don't think they want to listen or cooperate with the drone community. I hope I am wrong. Thanks and keep up the great work with your videos.
That's like saying you can only utilize American maid microchips, guess what? America stops running but with the laws they're passing, what says they can't do something so radical as that
People have to take the autonomy about laws regulations and decisions back. Politics have failed in everything they touch. So it's not going change through politics. If the failed government and politics is never held accountable they will continue to fail. Corruption is a power thing. Call them out and audit your government and politics.
While I applaud the effort, facts and logical arguments do not have a good track record these days. The financial argument - why spend 15 million of state funds, when federal funds are on the horizon- was clever, but at the same time you undermined the security argument by pointing to the NDAA language where the security audits already conducted were all but ignored by federal lawmakers.
For our government to say drones from China serve as a Security threat is beyond funny coming from a government who allowed a spy balloon to fly from the starting line to the finish line and then be shot down 😂. Dji fly on! 💙☮️
I hope several people will send a link to ALL North Dakota politicians with this video. And include some of the information listed here too. The more people aware, the less chance nonsense legislation like this will continue.
@51Drones I'm js in general when the commies take away the regular dudes dji. I really wished america would make anything competitive towards Asian products. China and Japan knows how to build stuff. Cars, video game consoles, tvs, u name it they r superior
If you record to an SD card and are not connected to cellular or Wi-Fi, the data stays on your computer when you transfer the footage. Cell coverage is not 100% across the US, and you can look at a spectrum analyzer to see if it's communicating and then "powered off."
Citizens should not be able to buy binoculars or use the Internet due to security risks! Every bill that requires more funding needs to be approved by the voters (taxpayers)!
Google maps is more of a “national security threat” than my mini 4.
Funny. When the cops got one of the bad guys who’s a serial home rubber here in LA and they asked him how are you getting the detailed info on those houses, and he said he used the google maps 😂 but at the end like you said it’s a security threat and it’s not funny at all 😢

Please share with your Senator!
Russ well done! You are so transparent with your knowledge on Drones! Your voice needs to be heard! Blessings! Thank you!!!
Thanks!
Thank you for posting this. I'm here in Nodak and will pass it on.
🔥 you said this perfectly. I’ve been thinking about making a video for our senators as well.
I appreciate you keeping track of all this!
Thank you for the video.
My question would be towards the new geo fencing removal.
I haven't seen you cover that.
Thank you 🤙
They were banned in Florida for Government use and a whole lot of agencies were not happy with it.
I live in Alabama so we go to Florida like goin to the grocery store and I promise u they still use dji there. Who's gonna make them stop? Nobody. Just yt they recent drone work they've been doin with dji at the police stations. They hire individuals like me to do it
@w.e.s. Sir I live in Florida I own numerous DJI drones that work. Government agencies are not allowed to use DJI drones in the state of Florida.
No they aren't.
That was great Russ! You encapsulated the whole situation perfectly! Truly mind boggling if that bill isn't amended.
Hey Russ, Great video and thank you but sharing this information in such a clear and concise manner. I've email Senator Hoven, shared your video with them and the articles sited. I hope they will listen.

Thanks for the update !!

Very well spoken. 👍🙌
Thank you Russ. This is very enlightening, informative and powerful.
I’m thinking about buying an Avata 2 now before the tariffs but if the govermemt shuts down DJI for everyone then it’s a waste. Should I hold off?
Thanks Russ - moved to ND 2 years ago - message sent to my 2 STATE reps and Senator (fargo)>
You made a great video, you make excellent points. Especially how many Matrices you could get for 15 million
I’m with you. I have been using DJI drones since I started 5 years ago. I can’t start over to claw my way back to where I started. Thanks for your take on a raw deal!
Thanks for this I hope it helps!!!
Very interesting video! Hope the right people see it!!
Good video. I am watching from Europe.
Thanks for covering this!
Connecticut has the same type of bill on the table.
Just come to Best Dakota, its warmer here.

WA State dropped a bill too to ban foreign drones for state and local agencies including Police 😳

Hello neighbor. Hopefully Montana doesn’t follow suit. Great informative video hopefully it gets through to them
If this is true, then it will affect the whole hobby, not only in your country but in all of Europe, including my country, this must be stopped.

Time to buy the Specta drones we are seeing for sale now. They are DJI drones minus the DJI branding.
@@olewiseone1079 I don't think the government is going to buy Specta drones. That's not who is paying for their laws.

Sounds like politicians need a raise or bonus

I LIVE IN NEW JERSEY IT'S OVER THEY BANNED THEM 😢
You all need to prevent this. If you live in that state make lots of noise.
Wow that will mess you and others up🤨 I hope this doesn’t happen 😮
Wow. Does the others states will be impacted ?
Usa have to build theirs owns drones as good as DJI.
As of January 2025, four U.S. states-Arkansas, Florida, Mississippi, and Tennessee-have implemented bans on the use of DJI dronesby state agencies
The entire nation will be impacted because our Northern Plains Test Site, which is the primary location for incorporating drones into the national airspace system would not be able to use the best drones available to conduct their operations. This would set us back, I believe.

Sorry to hear about this. I hope you can get it reversed.
Interesting. It’s just a hobby for me. I find it more interesting that DJI removed geofencing and I’m happy they did.
No.
This is the Skydio enrichment bill.
It just shows you how thick some people can be. Are they going to ban all electronics made in China?
$50,000 a drone at 15 million for 300 drones.
